Great beautiful lake. walked the trail that begins at the marina café. paved for 3 miles. lots of shade, 85% of the trail is shaded. dogs allowed on leash. wear masks within 6 feet of others. cell phone reception is spotty. this trail is easy, a slight incline in one area.walked near end of pavement and walked back. this trail goes all the way around the lake, but we didnt want to do that today. loved it here!! will return.

The breakfast burrito is awesome, if you can get it... This Cafe inexplicably closes AT lunchtime... Went in at 11:45am and was told the chef was off on lunch until 12:30. WTF. Watched them lose at least 10 customers come and go.Then the last time we came here, on a Sunday, the whole Cafe was closed for a private event... Ive just given up expect expecting to get food here when we come, will have to bring your own food in case the Cafe closes at peak Cafe hours...

Dont ever rent any boats. They waive every responsibility even if its totally their fault. This happened around half a year ago, and I just dont have time and energy to get back my money. My wife and I rent a 2-people Kayak and returned to deck after 1-hour boating. An employee pulled our kayak to help us get onto the deck, but the boat tilted and we fell into the water. This was OK compared to the things happened next. My phone sunk to bottom of the lake, and the employee promised us that he will get the iphone back to us in a short time. Since it was busy time for them, we agreed. In the next half (or one) hour, both of us soaked in water and shiverring, and no one gave us any blankets. We went out of patience. I went into water again, and they cant ignore us anymore. Their VP came out, gave us some hot chocolate, free lunch and a T-shirt. She promised us they will give us a promising result. We believed them again (well we were freezing and cant judge under that circumstance) and went home.We repeatedly called them in the next week. After 1 week, another guy (VP I assume) in the company contacted us. He offered to cover the cost of my iphone. I refused the offer at that time, because I wasnt satisfied with their altitude. I told them that I need to contact my lawyer and find my best solution. He told me that he will move this case to insurance company and lay off his hands on this issue. After talking with lawyer, I realized that I waived my rights by signing the contract. I tried to contact their VP again, but they already sent the case to insurance company. As you can expect, insurance company refused to cover our loss. The process took more than a month. We were to tired to continue, and it was too costly to sue them. End of story and we bore the loss by ourselves.Advice? Just DONT RENT A BOAT in the cafe. Bring your own kayak, its only around $200 for new kayaks. STOP DOING BUSINESS with them, just bring your own food. Thanks for reading.

There is a charge for parking. Many people park on the side of the road before entering the park. The park is a popular place with lots of people, many of whom go there for exercising - walking around the lake, paddling on the water, or hiking up into the hills and woods. Although the lake/park is close to dense population center, there is little/no cell phone signals which is an inconvenience.

Me and my dad rented some Kayaks here and the experience was really fun. The boats worked well and everything was nice. We had plenty of time to row out as far as our muscles would take us. Do not rent the open top Kayaks like we did. The water comes off the paddles and will soak your legs, which can be terrible. The lake also has great fishing resources, but the shop is pricey compared to a mainstream store.

Ive ridden my bike around this lake close to 100 times up on Redwood Rd/Skyline. It wasnt until years later that I finally took a trip down to see what the lake was all about. We rented a row boat and had a nice (albeit exhaustingly long) row around the lake, which made for a nice day. Make sure to have plenty of food and drink aboard.
