A total local theatre that doesnt break the bankbook. All matinee shows before 4pm costs $5.25 for all ages. Shows after 4pm costs $7.25 for seniors (55 and older), $7.25 for 3-12 and $9.25 for 13-54. They have a half price Tuesday. Any show before 4pm is only $2.75. Wow! What a steal!! All the snacks in Tuesdays are 1/2 price too!! You cant go wrong!! On Tuesday, shows after 4pm is cheaper too!! It costs $3.50 for ages 3-12 and 55+. Otherwise, it costs $4.50 for 13-54. Of course, this rate doesnt apply when they have special performances or shows. They recently installed a new flavored water machine and are selling t-shirt of the theatre for $25. Come and support the local theatre!!

We had a movie birthday party for our daughter who turned 5 this past weekend and the service from staff, as well as coordinating with the manager, Josh prior to the event was FANTASTIC!Josh was polite, helpful, responsive and efficient. He offered suggestions and made him accessible in the event that I had questions and/or needed assistance leading up the party the day of.The Sunday staff was FANTASTIC! They were nice, polite, patient and helpful which went a long way in our book.Working with little one’s early in the morning can often be taxing but everyone was so pleasant and gracious and I couldn’t have been more pleased with our decision to host the movie birthday party at your theater. They even wished her a Happy Birthday and put her name on the marquee which made the experience all that more special for her. She was overjoyed to be able to watch Frozen II with all of her friends for her birthday and hasn’t stopped talking about how much fun she had.Her parents and guests haven’t stopped raving about how great the theater and staff were during the visit. We highly recommend!

The Chabot. What a great community treasure. We have one of the last single screen theatres. So many memories of taking my kids the for a family movie and date night Tuesdays. Our oldest is 29 now and goes on his own date nights there. Super clean and upgraded concessions. I saw Star Wars there, get screen and sound, just needed more of my neighbors there to enjoy the experience with. Support the Chabot!

Its a single auditorium which means showings a very limited, but the place has plenty of seats. The seats are a little cramped with not much legroom and the cupholder-arms cannot be raised. The fountain drinks are delicious and made locally. The popcorn isnt bad and you have access to self-service butter. The other snack options are pretty standard.Closest parking is only along the street. Be sure to keep an eye out for the signs. Parking can get bad, even when theres premier showing. Though, you can find parking a mere walk away in various locations. The surrounding area is definitely safe.

First time back since the remodel, and we will definitely be returning! Cartoons instead of commercials, and the local record store, One Bad Apple, spotlighting a local artist singing a song & playing guitar~THAT’S ‘community’ ! Well done, Chabot & Smalltown Society... thank you

I really like the fact the city of Castro Valley has allowed the Chabot Theater to remain. Its like a little landmark of its own, it seems to be well known. The theater is really old skool, with only one screen but will often play two different movies at alternating times and its seating is really simple. Im not even sure it has cup holders. But its cute, quaint and affordable. My parents used to visit this theater because its really close for them, affordable, especially with the senior discount available. Im not really down for the really fancy theaters, where food can be ordered and delivered to the seats, I just want to see a good movie and be comfortable, but not have to spend gobs of money. For being an older theater, the seats are pretty comfortable and there is plenty of leg room. Its fun to have such a cute affordable older eclectic theater close by.However, the one main drawback about this theater is the parking. It is few and far between, and mostly street parking or parking in shopping centers across the street, which is technically not idealistic as it could produce a parking ticket.I would return to this theater and have on several occasions, its fun!! :)

Great theatre. So happy someone took over to keep this historic theatre in Castro Valley. The pricing is incredible! Half price on Tuesdays!!! We will be taking advantage. No outside food, so the movie treats are where they get you. Its nothing compared to most theatres in the area. Love the tiered seating. The cup holders could use replacing in a lot of the seats. Great atmosphere. Brings back so many memories! My hubby and I saw soooo many movies here throughout our dating years. Now taking our daughter with us to the movies truly has brought the Chabot Theatre into our family. #livingourlifelongmemoriesthroughthebigscreen

Parking always a chore, be prepared.

I love this darling vintage movie theater, its been a staple for most of my life. They have taken excellent care of the restoration and the moviegoing experience is just as good as any mega screen mall cinema. Plus its the local downtown thats always been there. The staff is always courteous and the snacks are great! You can also buy tickets online ahead of time. Its not so busy that you would necessarily need that but it makes for a great time-saving perk when youre seeing movies with kids and getting everyone ready and out of the house on time is a challenge!Being that it is an old building, it has some accessibility quirks, so please give yourself extra time and ping the management beforehand. There is ample seating space for wheelchairs however.
