My mom, brother and I stopped by this morning, and we were impressed with the interpretative center. Upon arrival, staff members pointed out that their presentation film was about to begin, which when watched, was enjoyable and deeply humbling to listen to the troubles early settlers of the West had to endure. The exhibits were arranged quite well, providing a lot of information with good and proper context. Very important place to visit for families.

Absolutely superb! Excellently filled with facts, historical info and journal entries from folks living then. The place wasn’t on my list of things to do, but my husband wanted to go. Wow, I was SORRY I guessed it to be boring!! It was sooo interesting and full of hands on displays including a virtual ride in a ‘covered wagon crossing the Platte River’.A video presentation highlighting aspects of life on the trails helped me feel better what life on the trails was like.Staff was wonderfully helpful. One in the gift shop helped me find a book with many journal entries from women, and another staff helped me find one with mostly men’s journal entries.Great place for teaching kids and adults

This was a random stop in our journey west and we didnt realize how historic of an area we were in until we stopped here. Several early treks west went through this area. My mom lives in Casper, and when we were coming to visit from out of state. she said she wanted to bring us here. We absolutely loved this place!! And if youre a history buff like me, you definitely will to!! Its basically a museum that teaches you about what the settlers went through. While travelling, if I remember correctly, mostly from St Louis to California. Which was the reason that the city of Casper was founded. They have many interesting and entertaining exhibits, showing you not only the difficulties that they went through each day. but also the hostel attitudes that many native Americans had towards them.. I really liked how they showed things from both the settlers and the native Americans points of view! its definitely a great place to learn about the history of the area and the trails for both adults and kids alike!
