This boat club is fantastic! Every interaction we had was beyond pleasant, and every teammate was ridiculously helpful. I cannot count how many times we received a text while out on the water letting us know we can stay out a little longer if we wanted. They were very accommodating! The owner, David, is a pleasure to speak to and was very helpful. The boats were always insanely clean, very new, and fast! We were relocated and had no choice but to leave the club, otherwise, we would stick around forever. If were ever back, getting back in the club will be a no-brainer decision for us!

Signed up today for the club, excellent experience dealing with Andrew who took his time to answer all of our questions and offer us the best membership option that fits our needs and budget. Andrew was very honest and straight to the point. Looking forward to enjoying the lake, the care free membership, and the variety of new boats.

Dishonest, Deceitful, Inconsistent, Disrespectful, and ultimately not worth the hassle. When they call it carefree, that means that THEY are carefree... not you.Our experience was not all bad, we definitely had some good times... but what you had to put up with in order to get that, just simply wasn’t worth the hassle. They are carefree about what days of the week they will be open (close randomly without notice), what times they will be open, what they charge you for gas (or whose gas they will charge you for), what damages they decide to accuse you of with NO DISCUSSION whatsoever up to $2,500, or with how they treat you as a member. They do put on a good show, I’ll admit it, but once you find out the real deal, who the owner really is, how he conducts his business, how he treats members, and his “yes men” managers that worship his questionable business practices, it’s just not worth getting that kind of negativity in to your fabric, and they have a lot of it. . They have the contract you sign to back it up, they have full control, and even though they are a franchise that promotes and advertises unlimited use, boat when you want, thats NOT what they do here.THEY get to DECIDE what constitutes unlimited use based on what THEY think your average outings per year should look like, for example 25 outings per year constitutes unlimited use... which is one time per week for less than half the year you paid for. Do yourself a huge favor and save yourself the heartache, have an attorney take just 5 minutes to review the contract you sign, if you decide to go with these bozos, Im sure your attorney will tell you to run fast and far. There are plenty of other boat clubs around, check them out instead. Sure the carefree boats are nice and new, but that comes with a bunch of heartache and hassle, its just not worth it. They also have bank draft, which is used for control and manipulation. CHECK your bank account EVERY DAY.There are obviously a lot a great reviews on here, and I don’t discount those a bit, because in the beginning (or if you are a limited user as they prefer) you won’t immediately see the way things are really run. Participate enough, and you will see how it really works. What they really want is members who use the boats INFREQUENTLY. Again, despite the fact that the carefree website claims that you can boat whenever you like as often as you like, that’s just simply not the case. You will be quickly labeled an “excessive user” and they will find a way, one way or another, to push you out, start charging your account for made-up charges, or otherwise make your life miserable. When I brought this up to them, they were very angry and yelled at me that they know what the website says! There is additional fee if you use the boat 2 hours, or an entire day, same additional fee! That’s not what carefree is supposed to be about, but the Allatoona and Lanier locations run by the same owner are too busy trying to be too many other things besides what you the member are actually paying them to do, which is to be an effective and enjoyable boat club. They even refused to let a prospective member join because they said he would likely use the boats “too much”.If you get sucked in to their non-sense and stick around long enough, you will see their lies, deceit, and deception. You will start seeing overcharges for gas, damages you had nothing to do with charged directly to your bank draft.Sign their contract, they got you, and they will get you. It’s just a matter of time.I am the one responsible for my misfortune in trusting carefree to deliver what they promised. I’m the one that signed their stupid one-sided contract that they could in turn use against me. It’s my fault, DONT let it be your fault! Run away fast. There are other boat clubs on both Allatoona and Lanier, and although the boats may not be as shiny and new, in the end you will be much happier dealing with honest and respectable people elsewhere, instead of people that are carefree.

I’m about two months in to my membership, and love it. I’ve been around boats my whole life and I’ve tried t all. I’ve owned a boat and trailered it, had wet slip, dry stack, even owned a lake house with two boats hanging on a lift ready to go. Since joining the club, I’ve spent more time actually on the water with the kids than any other option. If you are looking for family lake time with minimal hassle, this is the only way to go.My big concerns going in were:1) boats. Would they be beat up ?Since this club is part of a dealership, the boats are new and very nice. They are well maintained and well equipped.2) pontoons ? Yes, they are the mini-van of the water. I had not been in a modern tri-toon in a long time. These things are nice ! And they move ! We can easily cruise the lake and pull the kids on a towable. The pontoon boat has really evolved in the last 10 years.3) availability. How hard would it be to get a boat ? So far we’ve been on the lake every weekend, and have never been unable to book a boat - including July 4th. Once you understand the system, it works very well.I love it. And I can’t say enough good things about the staff. Everything you want - friendly, helpful, available. The economics of the club are very easy if you have tried other ways to accomplish lake time. The value and stress reduction are well worth the cost in my mind.So yes, big, big, fan.
