I couldnt believe that we stumbled onto this little gem right in the heart of DFW! Adorable amusement park thats perfect for a family hangout day on the weekend or a date. Sometimes I just want to go to an old fashioned park that reminds me of my childhood--simple rides, carnival food, and a gorgeous Venetian carousel. My husband and I actually took our engagement photos here and it worked beautifully. Will continue to come back here for every open season! Eventually I know well want to come back on an anniversary and do even more photos.

I came here as part of a band participating in their annual music festival, and we can all guarantee that the experience was absolutely horrid. The place is under horrible maintenance. We found snakes by the river, and spiders and mold in the restrooms. All the rides apeal only to kids ages 5-8. The food was of an incredibly low quality and disgusting taste, not to mention expensive. Their staff was incredibly rude to our school. As the park was closing, various staff members yelled at our students and denied them to use the restroom or drink water, and proceeded to follow them in their cars and watch them until we left like criminals. Not to mention, they were completely unreasonable. Our director tried to communicate some of our problems with the staff and they were very rude, interrupted him and would not listen. If you want to avoid horrible service, avoid this park.

Not bad for a mid-range amusement park at all. It wasnt so busy as to be difficult, and theres plenty to do for small children. One needs to be aware that this place is CASH ONLY and all rides have their own fees charged in tickets (purchased inside the park). Overall, very reasonably priced.

Went for my company party. Had a good time. More fixed restrooms instead of porta-potties would be nicer. Some kind of air movement in the arcade would bring more people in. They need to tend to the softball field. We were supposed to have 4 games but couldnt even play because the field they advertise is nowhere near playing condition at all. Pools are nice. Rides are good. Its like a permanent county fair.

Sandy Lake Amusement Park was fantastic. The guy at the front gate was super friendly. You have to call ahead to reserve the pavilion tables, but there are plenty of free picnic tables under huge shady trees. Lots of rides for kids. The train ride was the best. The conductor was a funny guy and he will let your kiddos take pics in the train. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. Great place to bring the family for an afternoon of fun!

My husband and I decided to visit Sandy Lake for the first time since one of my elementary school field trips. I have to say it is one of our favorite little parks! There are fun rides for both kids and adults at fair prices. We went on a Saturday but still did not have to wait in hardly any lines for any ride. Concessions are good and employees were all very nice. Would definitely recommend!

Today we visited this place with family. Good place for kids to enjoy with rides and have a snack or ice cream to refresh :) Each ride costs about $1.5-$2.5. So, little expensive as kids will not stop with one ride. We spent $30 for rides for two kids. Kids are happy so we are :)Still, nice place to visit and spend couple of hours with family and kids.

I may not have had the opportunity to grow up with this park, but Im so glad I found Sandy Lake before they closed permanently (as of 10/18/2018).On my only trip there I unexpectedly showed up during a Native American Heritage festival so there were quite a few vendors and presentations to see.As far as the park itself, it seemed like something ripped out of classic campy movies from the 1970s.There was a giant pool, paddle boats, a haunted dark ride (The Pretzel - look up YouTube videos), a very wild miniature golf course, an outdoor-ish video arcade (with snack bar), some barnyard animals, rides youd find at a carnival, bumper cars, a really twisted tree (with a local tornado legend), pavilions/picnic areas, and a miniature train that would give you a tour of the entire park.Oh, speaking of the 1970s, I swear this place felt like it hadnt been changed since that decade (other than a fresh coat of paint here and there), but that isnt necessarily a bad thing since I thought it gave the place a lot of charm.I absolutely loved that insane miniature golf course that looked like someone just poured concrete over the entire (fairly steep) hill and shaped out the courses by hand. There was nothing professional looking about this course. It honestly looked like the bunch of people designing this thing got together and were saying things to each other like, Wouldnt it be cool if you could send a golf ball all the way down this hill?. It was amazing. Also, that miniature train that toured the entire park did the coolest thing Id ever seen. The train station was close to the center of the carnival ride area and when you rode the train it would take you down the pedestrian walking road?... walkway? And I dont mean around it or even beside it. I mean right down the middle of it and through the crowd with no fences or guard rails. Of course, they drove very slowly and it probably wasnt the safest thing in the world, but man it made the ride feel incredibly special.Anyhow, I hope the landscaping/plant company that purchased the property preserves some of the parts of this park for others to visit because it would be a shame if others missed out on this place. But Im so happy I got to see it before it went away.

The pool area was great for kids, LOTS of seating, huge beach balls to play with, shady areas to sit, showers, the deepest the pools go are 4ft and they have several lifeguards out as well. As for the rides; everything uses a ticket system. Which can be extremely high maintenance. Lots of places to have lunch and an arcade place for games that unfortunately do not use the tickets. Its a cash only place! But there is an ATM on site. There is no one there during the week so plan to go then!

I understand the appeal of a cheaper amusement park, but this carnival type attraction is horrid. The bathrooms were filthy, there were maggots in the bathroom, and the food was absolutely terrible. We got nachos with cheese and chili, and they obviously watered down both significantly in a bid to save money. The cheese was, no joke, cheese flavored water. After that disaster we bought some tickets, part of the appeal was that it was touted as a really cheap thing to do with the kids. That is patently false, most ever ride the kids wanted to get on cost 5 tickets each, $2.50 a person. That doesnt sound terrible, but one ride with 3 people cost us 15 tickets. The mini golf track was bad, everything was dirty, and it was just an awful experience.Save your money, just take the kids to a park.
