This a nice quiet area. Nice trails. The visitors center wasn’t open when I went.Lots of birds and squirrels, saw some deer and turkeys but no other animals that I could see. Lots of areas you couldn’t go down but looked like people trampled through anyways.

This was our first visit to the area (and certainly not our last). My daughters and I walked the trails around the nature center and walked over to the river. The trails are well maintained and easy to walk. Beautiful natural setting. We saw a few deer on our walk and we were met by quite a few wild turkeys as we were leaving. It was such a fun experience!

Absolutely loved this place. It is an excellent spot to take a walk and enjoy the scenery. There are multiple trails that lead all over the place and can be walked in a variety of loops. Early morning sunrises over the river here are magical and should absolutely be experienced. One this about this place is a lot of people seem to think of it as a playground. Please be respectful and ensure you and your children are staying on trail and not being destructive.

Effie Yeaw Nature Center is perfect for little ones to explore. The trails are long enough to spend a good 1-3 hours together, but they are also well maintained so little ones can walk alongside parents safely. The animals are all rescued, and from the area, as well as there are stuffed (taxadermed) animals to view in the center. There are a lot of hands on exhibits for curious little fingers to explore. The facility also has a water fountain and a water bottle filler at the entrance, so you can fill up before, and after you hike. There are a few wild animals wondering around the park as well. Your in their home, so please be respectful to them.

Would give this place 10 stars if I could. Went there with my kids in the 80s & 90s, now taking my grandkids. Such a wonderful place to teach children how to stop, take a breath, and listen, smell, see, feel the beauty all around us. The Nature Center is staffed by kind & caring people who are ready to share their knowledge of local flora & fauna, and there is always someone walking around with a snake or bird (all rescued and cared for lovingly) encouraging children to touch gently and learn. One of my all-time favorite places--a peaceful place to quietly learn more about the beauty of our local environs.

Effie Yeaw is an amazing place to walk. It has trails that walk you throughout nature. On your walks you will see deer, doe, fawns, turkey and many more. You will hear and see woodpeckers high in the trees. If you get tired, there are several benches to sit at. They have fantastic Maidu Indian replicas of a house outside. Bring a picnic and sit outdoors. There is a animal sanctuary inside; owl, lizards, and snakes. Inside you will also find a hands on self guided room with information about California wild life. Their docents are very friendly and will answer every questions your child has.

I absolutely love the nature center in Carmichael along the Sacramento River! The place has always had a fond place in my heart, its shared itself with former love interests making for enjoyable times. Its also seen me hiking solo through the preserve whenever I need to collect my thoughts and perhaps cool my jets by going all zen with mother nature! The grounds are well kept, clean, plenty of parking, helpful staff and plenty of drinking fountains for those hot summer days!

I really enjoy coming here. There are numerous trails with deer and turkeys all over the place. The trails will take you right to the rivers edge. It is fun to pack a picnic lunch with my almost 3 year old and head to the river so she can see the geese, ducks, and throw rocks in the river. The Nature Center is a great stop on our way out. The kiddo gets to see all kinds of birds and snakes up close. She lives seeing tiny Sophia. There is a recommended donation of $2 for adults and $1 for children. I bought an annual membership so it covers the parking too. I think that was $5 for the day. During the school year it can get busy with field trips and such, but with all the trails there is always something to see while you wait for the nature center to clear out. I definitely recommend.
