Excellent crowd of welcoming customers and friendly staff. Runs the span of cheap drink specials to excellent craft beer. Chill vibes in the early evening to jamming shows at night. Perfect covered balcony.

This place is amazing. Cute little bar with a patio, second floor, and a stage..so far theyve had cool djs playing house, dubstep, edm music which keeps the vibe up and going. Definitely recommend going! The staff is really nice as well.

The ambiance of Hangar is great; very laid back and chill. I especially enjoyed, last spring, the Pink Floyd Tribute Band and a couple weeks ago when Wedding Banned performed. Definitely the first bar I will be going to once they reopen.

Its come a long way from the pole barn where I celebrated my 21st birthday. It still has the best music in town though. Good drink specials and friendly bat staff. This place is a staple whenever Im back in town.

The first bar I ever visited since moving to Southern IL, this place has it all - regular events, a welcoming family feeling, clean and safe atmosphere. Cheap drinks when they dont have Karaoke on Tuesdays. Awesome!

Karaoke nights are always alot of fun!

They have a great selection of beer, pool tables, and a venue for bands. They have some great live music here, too. The service has always been really good. The clientele is consistently odd. This is fine in moderation, but its almost like the folks who patronize this place go well out of their way to not conform. Again, Im fine with non-conformity, but there is a tipping point at which your strenuous efforts not to conform take more energy than just allowing yourself to be normal. To each his own, but to me, the crowd here is exhausting. Okay, we get it - You dont fit in and youre proud of it. No one cares. Or at least, I dont.

This is an excellent facility. Great place to see bands. Nice, spacious stage, nice dance area, places to sit down. They bring in great bands from around the region, St. Louis and Chicago, and they feature bands that do original material. Ive been coming here for 28 years, and I will keep coming back.

Not a bad place to go, especially on Tuesdays when they have karoake! I love going to the upper level, playing pool, and singing along to the wanna-be Queens. Service is good and alcohol content is usually good.

This is a pretty decent place. Seems like a place with a lot of music venues. The bartenders were very friendly. Can be a little especially as the evening progresses. Overall, not bad.

Loved the staff & the ambiance.... Experience was very good. Nice crowds & draws in a lot of people on trivia night & nights they have comedians and local djs. Much more mature crowds. Drinks are a little expensive though.

Went here earlier this year in May to drop off my homebrew for a competition. We came back that night because the place looked interesting because of the decorations and they had a very wide selection of beers on tap. Thats the only good part... when we returned at around 7 or 8 the place was packed, the band was incredibly too loud(mainly because the buildings acoustics are wrong for loud rock music, way too small of area). There were also bowls of condoms out everywhere! Havent seen that in a bar since I was underage trying to sneak into places, but that just shows its obviously geared more towards the young crowd. The last straw was the bathrooms, they were disgusting and the wall was covered in the most ridiculous ignorant writings from visitors Ive ever seen. Everywhere I looked it was just obscene cursing all over! It was awful and time to go once we saw that, thank God a disgusting place like that doesnt serve food.

We went here for my friends 21st birthday and it was supposed to be a bar crawl but it was so fun here that we just stayed for the rest of the night. The music was really good. And our waitress (Paige) was very nice and brought our drinks in a timely manner.

No food to order or eat, geared to a very young crowd.

It was okay. I liked the decorations and that there were a lot of places to sit down. They had a dance floor but only really obnoxious music playing so it wasnt any fun to try to dance. There was an upper floor that appeared open that I did not go up in. Went out on Halloween weekend and stay for about an hour. I was not charged a cover charge but some people I went with were. I did not order any drinks while I was there. Review lost a star for truly horrendous music and for charging some people to walk in.

Awesome bar! Great music, great people, and excellent staff. The live bands are always a good time and the mostly liberal/hippie crowd that frequents are my kind of people. Prices can be a bit steep sometimes (i.e., cover), but thats expected in a college town. Definitely the place to be in my opinion!

I only stopped in for one drink and a card game (they have a shelf full of games in the back). Good selection of tap beers, clean, patio, indoor bags game. It seems like a popular hangout for the college crowd.

This place has a really nice atmosphere in the early evening. There was a small amount of people there. Plenty of bar space. Music was mostly alternative rock from the 90s. They had sports on the TVs. There is one pool table. The bartender was very nice and the drinks were good. Quite a bit of craft beer is served here so its a good place to go and try a few new beers with some friends. I was here on a Tuesday around 7pm. I cannot comment on what a typical weekend is like here.

The band is pretty hit or miss in my limited experience. Trying to get attention at the bar has been a little slow. But the atmosphere is good, and they have trivia night on Wednesdays which is fun

Of all the bars Ive been to in Carbondale, I like Hangar 9 the most. They feature several theme/event nights throughout the week (hip hop night, karaoke, open mic night, live music, Wednesday Trivia, etc.). They also have a menu of craft beer on draft and in cans that changes weekly and seasonally, with some popular staples. They have a full selection of hard liquor. There are two pool tables, and various board games available. The outdoor seating faces US 51 North, but is not overly loud in the evening.

Be it weekend or weekdays, a nice atmosphere to be at.

I love this bar. It is clean, and usually has nice entertainment (expect a cover charge on weekends). But what keeps me coming back is the beer selection; there are always a number or seasonal/local beers that change frequently.

Went to Hangar 9 for a benefit for Big Larry. Venue was great. Love the garage doors to the patio. The music was awesome and the people were great. Definitely would return.

Gotta agree with Joshua. I’m a longtime local and will always be partial to the ‘old’ Hangar. The remodeled version is nice, but it just doesn’t have the same feel. Still a good place to see a show and their drink selection is hard to beat.

Im personally a fan of Trivia Night, Wednesday nights at 8pm!Mixed drinks can be watery at times, but the overall service is great. Confused on which new drink to try? Hangar is great about giving you samples so you spend money on stuff youll enjoy!Hangar doesnt serve food, however outside food is welcome and there are many options right next door (Changos, Insomnia Cookies, Jimmy Johns, and DQ to name a few). Nachos, or a similar snack, would be a nice addition if Hangar served them in the future.Would highly recommend!
