Incredible experience! Facility is gorgeous, people are incredibly friendly, and the show was way more than we were expecting. If you’re looking to save a few bucks and book the cheaper seats on the sides of the theater, I recommend choosing seats on the right side of the theater as many canyon related elements can’t be fully viewed from the left side of the amphitheater.

Nice musical covering the history of Texas as a young state. It varies every year so you wont be disappointed to see it several times. The outdoors amphitheater is a beautiful setting with the backdrop being the canyon walls. The play gets better and better with special affects. There is a dinner (optional $$$) before the play but its kinda expensive and the BBQ was not the best. Your ticket will get you a reserved seat but there are no bad seats. They do have one intermission but its still a little long so with that in mind you might want a seat near the top. There is an area up there where you can stand to stretch your legs. They also have a concession stand that serves cold drinks and snacks. After the play the actors will hang around and mingle with the visitors which is nice. Just remember No photography is allowed during the show but you are allowed to take pictures or video when the fireworks start. Its a great show so dont miss it if youre there during the show season (June- mid Aug).

The Texas Show is very much worth seeing! I went on the hottest night of the summer but a nice breeze makes it fairly comfortable. They had a nice barbeque dinner option before that was casual but satisfying. There are no pictures allowed during the show, so my pictures are limited to the finale where they do allow it. They use horses, amazing props, and impressive special effects with a few wow moments to bring together a romantic comedy that brings historical perspective on the Panhandle of Texas. The production quality is high. The dancing and singing were very well choreographed and performed. They give a touching tribute at the end to veterans.

Marvelous, the music, dancing, the fireworks, all marvelous. The canyon is magical at night. I highly recommend the middle section, about a third of the way up. Front row and you will have a neck ache from looking up and you cant take in the whole stage. We came early for the dinner and it was very good. The young waiters wait on you hand and foot. Lovely surroundings, everything is outside. I love Palo Duro Canyon. It was an evening I will never forget.

Unexpectedly astounding production! These folks really know how to put on a show! And it included fireworks! They were showcasing a veteran tribute on July 3 and it was very touching and patriotic. They do not just use the stage for their production... they use the backdrop of the canyon floor and the canyon itself to really bring us an experience I will never forget. I think my favorite was the prairie fire. The absolute artistic expression in dance with our many struggles against fast and furious fires was truly moving. The different characters and intertwined stories were a great way to teach us all our history and inspire us with how they overcame tribulations.Really touching was Quanah Parkers role. He is a cousin (as we all are once you get 6 times removed ;-) ) thru his mother. And while I knew there was a town nearby named after him, it didnt really connect. It was slow sometimes... but a slowing down of the action means you appreciate the intensity more. The music... was a little disappointing. But I grew up watching and performing Oklahoma! So they had quite a bar to hit. They have small mikes which assist in amplifying their voices ever so slightly, so you are basically surrounded by sound and immersed in the musical. Whoever does sound does an amazing job. Immersed but not overpowered. It is uncomfortable due to the tight seating, but center and midway to top up are the best places to view. The use of the canyon floor by the story line is missed if you are to close to the front. The weather was wonderful. They dont allow pictures until the fireworks, so all of mine are from that point. But I have to say.. that lone cowboy carrying the flag at the top of the canyon is so powerful it gave me goosebumps.Going to try to get out there one more time before it ends the season. I cant believe Ive lived here 7.5 years and never been! And what is sad? Other people I know have lived here for 25-30 years and theyve never seen it either! I will be dragging them kicking and screaming if I have to!

I am a local who has been to the show several times in the past and it was always good but I always felt it was too much of a romance story. I was pleasantly surprised with the new version of the musical! A little bit of comedy, drama, and romance all in one.. plus the military tribute at the end is AMAZING! Talented cast and crew! Will be attending this every summer for sure from now on.

Absolutely incredible musical! We met people there that it was their first time to see it all the way down to the 20th time to see it! There’s a lot of great talent on that stage, you don’t even realize you’ve been sitting for almost 2 hours! The chairs are very comfortable, there’s a short intermission in the middle, and the food prices are very reasonable! The firework show at the end was a lot of fun! You can’t take pictures or video during the performance, but you can during the finale! You’ll want to make sure this is on your list of things to do while in the area!

This was an outstanding performance. We enjoyed it tremendously! In late July, between 8 and 9pm, the canyon was still around 90 degrees. The little store sells bottles of water and they’re definitely worth the $3 price tag! Also be aware that you have to drive the winding and scary paved road down into the canyon (and back up in the dark)!

What a wonderful dinner and play. I havent been in years and the changes are refreshing. The background that has been added on the cliffs is amazing. The fires, lights, waterworks and the fireworks was an added treat. The music and the dancers and Characters, what wonderful jobs they did. My only complaint was the seating. You need to do away with section FarRight. For 18 dollars a ticket, you expect to see the play. In that section, you see nothing. Fortunately, we found other seats in the Right section where you can see most of the play. But thank you so much for the wonderful show. And thanks so, so much for honoring our vets.

This is a first-rate production that could go toe-to-toe (boot-to-boot?) with any other show out there. And they put it all on outdoors! How cool is that! Things to know: doors open about 8pm, show starts at 8:30pm. Has an intermission; show finishes about 10:45pm. Sun sets behind the hill before the show starts so you wont be in direct sunlight, but it can still be a bit steamy if the wind isnt blowing.

I’m sorry but this musical is just not as great as it was in the late 1990s. This was our fourth visit. We surly would go again but I think the main farmer character just not quite as good as past leading roles have been. Great fireworks at the end is a big plus.

Review №37

We really enjoyed this show. They dont allow you to take pictures, but the actors did a fantastic job and the singing and dancing was awesome. They had a dinner option that we didnt participate in, but they offered education and entertainment outside before the show so arrive plenty early. We loved how they used animals in the show. The story was fascinating and moved along at an entertaining pace. I didnt give it a full five stars because we made the mistake of buying front row seats thinking the kids would have a better view of the show, but it was actually worse as we ended up staring right at the base of the stage and couldnt see anything going on toward the middle and back of the stage without standing up which annoyed the people behind us. We also couldnt see the side stages very easily as they were essentially behind us. BUY THE CHEAP SEATS and sit back in the crowd a bit and you will be much happier with your experience. Another complaint was the size of the seat itself. They are unforgivingly teeny with metal sides that cut into my hips the entire time and left bruises on my thighs by the time the show was over. Someone else mentioned more space in a coach seat on an airplane and I would have to agree with them on that. All of those things aside, the show was still worth it and the finale was really breathtaking! The ending was worth the entire price of admission all by itself.

Wonderful singing, dancing and acting to tell the story of the Texas Panhandle and Palo Duro Canyon. Spectacular scenery as the show is performed outdoors with the canyon as the backdrop. Heard about this wonderful show from a Canyon local so decided to stay an extra day in the area so we could see it (travelling thru as Australian tourists). After a massive thunderstorm early that evening with heavy rain, thunder and LIGHTENING right at show time we decided that of course the show would not go on as we were only an 8 minute drive away so didn’t even think about getting in the car and driving the very short drive to the amphitheater knowing it could not be held as it’s an open air venue/show and the weather forecast was even more rain....We did however look up their information and website to call to see what was happening with only a recorded message with no info at all about the weather. Also looked for any info regarding weather for the performances on either the tickets or their website and still no info at all.Emailed very nicely next day for a refund only to be flatly refused ANY type of refund or date exchange (almost laughing at the thought informing us that the show did happen and they missed seeing us there! ) the thunderstorm was not even mentioned and told us that we should have read the policy (so we searched again and NO policy on their website or ticket email)After another email from us saying we were disappointed in their response to our refund email and we could again find no policy we did not even get a 2nd reply so waited now 3 weeks before deciding to let others know of their extremely bad money making venture.Hence we would never recommend anyone to see their show and if you do don’t forget your rain coat, umbrella and life insurance!
