Visited when we were in Texas in March. We explained were from the Netherlands and received a warm welcome from the owner and he gave us a complete tour of his business to show how things are done here in the States. Super friendly, helpful in every way imaginable. We came back next day to shoot at the outdoor range and tune our bow for a competition.I definitely recommend this shop and range.

This place is hot and cold. The reviews are mostly 5’s or 1’s because one day you get attentive support and the next no one will talk to you or help you. They re-did the serving on my string and we’re amazing about it. The next time they refused to do it and claimed they don’t do that. Here’s some advice, the times I’ve gotten good help, I did a little name dropping. The moment they forget I’m that gal who knows that guy they like, I’m no longer important. You want help? Make a show of it with the owner/staff. For me, driving 15 minutes more out of my way to a different store and not having to do a song and dance for attention is well worth it.

For one they market black gold bow sights on their website I show up to buy one to spend money at their store the old timer behind the counter was talking to a man about gruene y’all which must have been really interesting because I stood there for 20 minutes before he said a word to me. Once the other man had left I asked where are the black gold bow sights? Oh we don’t carry them anymore because they are made in mexico?? No they are not they are USA made for past 30 years old man is a liar and giving people false info

My son and 8 year old grandson were literally thrown out of the store for asking for help with a bow he purchased there in March. Then the owner followed them out to the parking lot, took down his license plate number and chest bumped him. All the while my grandson had to witness this atrocious behavior. We have been going to this shop for over 15 years and will never be back. Steer clear...

I very much enjoyed my archery experience here. For one, it was freezing outside but nice and warm inside (last month in December). The outdoor range was fun too with harder targets. He also fixed all our broken arrows, walked us through tips/advice when shooting (when we asked for help), and was very kind to us. We liked it so much, we went back with more people the next week.

If I could rate lower than 1 star I would. I have never had a good customer experience at Viking. The people that work there talk to me as if they couldn’t care less that I’m standing in front of them. They never offer helpful guidance or advise, they just give short one or two worded answers to your questions as if to say they don’t care about your problems. If they were the last archery shop on planet earth I’d rather go back to rifle hunting than give them any more of my business.

I had the opposite experience at this shop a year ago than what most reviewers are stating about poor service. I was initially met with some indifference about what I needed. After explaining who I was and showing interest in starting hunting the owner gave me his undivided attention. I will admit another patron entered the store later and was hardly acknowledged for about an hour. It saddens me that some have had such a bad experience with this man, he really seems like a knowledgeable source for archery.

Extremely bizarre experience.Entered store and waited 5 minutes for someone to come out. No one did so I opened and closed the door again so they could hear the bells go off again. Waited. Yelled hello. After 10 minutes I walked to the back office and asked if someone could help me up front. They said yes and eventually the owner walked to the end of the hallway and stopped, not coming any closer to the bow counter than that. He said nothing, just stood there glaring at me. I walked over and explained what I was looking for. Immediately it was apparent that he had copped an attitude towards me for who knows what reason.I had been in contact with Bear archery to acquire a particular bow. They said they couldnt ship directly from the manufacturer, but gave me a short list of their distributors near me, all of which they said could order it, and Viking Archery was one. Bear Archery even gave me a voucher with the contact name and number of their agent, to pay shipping to their retail distributor for this bow. I mentioned to the owner that I hadnt seen the right handed version of this bow hanging in the rack, and asked if he didnt have it, could he please order it. I said I was willing to pay upfront. He didnt say whether he had it or not, and refused to order one. I attempted to show him the voucher from Bear Archery and he said I was I lying . . .He then denied that he was a Bear Archery retail distributor, despite having dozens of their bows a few feet away, and despite Bear Archery specifically sending me there.Definitely the most strange and one of the most rude customer experiences Ive encountered.

Called this place a couple times to see if they have arrows with certain specification. The guy that answered has an IQ below 70.I asked if they have arrows with a certain spine number. They guy says he has no idea what I was talking about. Upon giving specifics, he still says “aah we sell arrows here, not what you are asking”, and then hangs up on me. Geez, can’t imagine what kind of service one can get from these $$&&$$’s.

I have tried to use this shop several times and every time I have experienced the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Rude actually. It’s a shame, because this is the closest shop to me and it would be convenient. I’ll drive two hours to another shop that actually wants the business. This morning I stopped in to check tune and broadhead flight, and this guy talked to me like I was clueless, and wouldn’t even look at my bow. I have bow hunted all over the country with great success, shot on multiple pro-staffs, understand archery and bows deeply, and own multiple businesses. I’ve never experienced this level of rude service from someone I am actually trying to pay! I won’t be back.

This was the worse experience I’ve had at an archery shop. I’ve been into archery for 13 years and never had a bad experience. Since most archers are very easy to get along with. This man said he chose not to service me. The shop was completely dead. I asked if he could even help measure my draw length he said he did not even know how to do that. As the owner of a bow shop! SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO TO CABELAS OR ANYWHERE ELSE!

If your trying to set up an old bow dont call this shop. They want to sell new bows only. I drove over an hour with the new string in hand for a carbon knight Bowtech bow. He refused to replace the string or even order or buils one for it so he was making money. He informed me he was not a Bowtech dealer he only worked on diamond bows. Well all bowhunters know Bowtech makes the Diamond. But he sure wanted to sell a new bow. I went to same man when in Houston area and I thought he was rude and arrogant then and today he proved my first impression was correct. His dad started this business out of love of the sport and he has turned it into a money mans store. Being a lady bowhunter for over 20 yrs I was uncomfortable not just once in this store. But I will never refer them nor will I use them ever for even the simplest thing like a peep. I would miss a hunt begore asking this man for help with my bow ever again. I say go see for yourself, but be prepared if not in the market for a new bow, old bows are not worthy of his time or effort. Sad;(

Range fees are better than a gun range. $5 for an hour or $10 for the day. Open Now during hunting season. Others arent. Also, bought 6 arrows he got my measurements. Cut the arrows put field points and i was set. I will be returning when I have more than the hour I spent there.

While Kevin worked on my bow Carl talked to me about different products and service that they provide. I looked around and loved the chooses of bow and accessories that they had to offer. Kevin installed the stings and tuned the bow and had me shoot it in the indoor range and I was in the white bulls-eye with all six shots that I took from 20 yards. It was to late to use the outside range. But I will be back. Thanks for making me feel welcomed. BTW I Loved the dog. See you soon.

Tried to buy a bow for my son from here...He was rude over the phone when I asked what brands of youth bows he had. He would not answer me and just kept saying Theres hundreds of bows on the market, what do you want me to do name off every single bow in stock? I said no I just want to know what youth bows you carry in stock. and he continued to be a jerk and not tell me. Then my husband purchased a bow from somewhere else because he would let him purchase it over the phone (we live 1 1/2 hr. away) and when he took it in to have it set up he was a jerk and got mad cause he didnt buy it from him. When my husband explained to him that he tried to buy it from him he denied my husband calling him and then threw him out of the store! First time to visit Viking Archery at their Boerne, Texas location and was looking for a certain bow, Mr. Scott - the owner I believe, greeted me quickly and we discussed not only the bow I was looking for, but took the time to discuss all of the bows with no bias. I get that this a way of doing business, but he was not opinionated, not trying to sell me something I may not need, but discussed the mechanical aspect by reviewing the bows both physical and by vendor catalog information and how it might be an option for me and price was never a topic. Imagine that, not a vulture, just a man giving me very knowledgble service with no motive. From the discussion I drew a few and decided on a bow that I was not even in there to purchase and was cheaper than the $1000 flagship I usually purchase. The cam for this bow is specific to left or right hand plus your draw weight and was incorrect for my draw length. Mr. Scott called his other location at Canyon Lake to see if was in stock and it was in stock, so I asked if I went and expedited the correct part back to his Boerne location would he be able to set and tune today. Instead, he followed me up to his Canyon Lake location to setup and tune instead of me making 2 trips. I percieved this action of genuine customer service and following through on his sale. Mr. Scott setup and tuned quickly and stacking arrows in couple of shots.I dont write reviews, i just read them. I am not one to suck up, but instead give credit where credit is due when someone goes out of their way to give you a great experience while delivering a great product of my choice and Mr. Scott is to be commended for his actions, knowledge, and attitude. I read all of the reviews and many were negative towards customer service in regard to the attitudes and poor customer service by Mr. Tim and Ms. Lannie, who were at the Canyon location, and were nothing but friendly and very enjoyable in conversation. So in closing, I would like to thank Scott, his family, and all of the other techs for their exemplary customer service tied to a great experience and just being kind people with no motive. It was a real blessing and our communities are losing these qualities on a fast track.God Bless,BT Thompson

Just went to this place today to have some tuning done on my TenPoint Cross Bow. The owner was a little short on conversation. Not rude but wasnt overfriendly either. Bottom line is if you are looking for a friendly conversation call someone who cares. If you professional service, accurate information, and have your equipment treated properly than this is the place. I go to a bar to shoot the bull not an archery store. I would recommend this place to my Grandpa if he was still with us. Please keep in mind I did read the reviews here before I left. WORST BOW SHOP ON THE PLANETIf a -1000 rating was possible this place should get it. The staff was generally nice, I have stopped in a few times grab a small item or two or get a new string put on a bow over the years. Until today. I was interested in purchasing a fully loaded/decked out new bow. Upon entering the store I saw the same gentleman I usually deal with. After the usual cordials I started to ask about a bow, I also asked who the owner of the shop was. He pointed to a man sitting at a table reading a paper. I walked over to introduce myself, told him my name and put my hand out to shake hands. I am from Texas, we like to shake hands and meet business owners we are about to spend $1,000+ with. This arrogant old man refused to put his hand out to shake mine, wouldnt look at up at me, and wouldnt even peel is wrinkled old nose out of his newspaper to acknowledge a customer. I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE STORE!!! Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt I still tried to strike up a conversation and asked him what bow he recommended for someone with my excessive height, he still ignored me. Great way to make a sale! I then asked him if he knew that bow hunting was illegal on 10 acres or less in Comal County (still trying to give the old fart the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was def and didnt hear my earlier attempts). Well, that got his attention; he looked up at me and asked, How long have you lived here. Of course I told him about a year since I built my house but I have always owned land in Comal County and grew up here. He looked at me and said, well, You are wrong, you cant hunt with a rifle or gun you can certainly hunt with a bow on 10 acres or less. I do it all the time. I didnt want to argue much, but at this point I already made the decision NOT to ever do business with someone that wont shake my hand so I couldnt help. I told him he might want to look into ordinance 422825. Which in 1993 Comal County commissioners banded bow hunting on 10 acres or less in the unincorporated areas of Comal County? As I walked out he said, Good day sir. I replied it is unfortunate that I will tell every person I know in the outdoor community to never come in this store. He said he doesnt care he has sold bows, all over the world and he is way older than me and I am too young to know anything Yep, at my young 40 years and having managed tens of thousands of acres of hunting property in Texas in my life, and having bowed my first deer at the age of 8 I dont know anything...ha, ha. Well, it gets better, he hopped up from his seat, followed me outside threatening me the whole way that he would have me arrested and he has me on camera (for what I wonder). Also stating he would, shoot me with a bow because that is legal on 10 acres or less. Funny how he waited to be outside away from his staff to say this. Needless to say, dont ever go in this place. I have read tons of reviews just like this not paid much attention, but they are true. Arrogant, Entitled, crappy business person that should be shown by his customers NOT going into his store how to treat someone. Again, dont waste your time here, there are plenty of bow shops that are very nice and appreciate business and customers. Try Freds bow shop or even Cabelas or Bass Pro. This place is horrible.
