Went to Molalla River State Park to check out the Molalla rvr. For Fishing. Its very very long walk and there really isnt much access to the river. There is more access to the Willamette River, than the Molalla. Most openings are overgrown and have a ton of stuff to Snag on. Other than that there is a narrow old style boat ramp but no real boat & trailer parking. There is a lot of open grass space near the restroom and picnic tables too.

Definitely more fishing oriented, at least to me. Theres something about the trails that kinda give me a horror film vibe, after what feels like a 10 mile drive into the middle of nowhere, I wouldnt want to be walking around that place after dark. I was visiting solo in the late afternoon in January, so maybe it would feel different with a group.

Nice picnic park. Right on the Willamette river and nice trees and trails. Dogs can run free in the big field and all the way to the mollala river.

Nice park. Didnt have a chance to explore all of it. We hiked a 2 mile loop that took us by the river. We saw plenty of people with fishing poles so I guess this is a good place for fishing. There are lots of picnic areas, places for dogs to run, a pond with turtles, trees, grass and fields. Will definitely be returning.

This is a state park, but dont expect many amenities. There are a couple restrooms, a boat launch, and two foot paths that run along a creek or the river. I wouldnt call it hiking, but its nice for a stroll. There are tons and tons of dogs running around, mostly off leash, even in areas that specifically say leash required, resulting in poop galore. It was clean, and well kept though. No day use fee when I went in January.

Molalla state park is almost like a secret park, mostly visited by local area residents, or people who grew up in the area and have returned for some summertime fun. Because it is quite a ways from a main road the park doesnt get a ton of random visitors. Mostly it sees people who know how to get there and are intentionally going there. Because of these circumstances it is fortunate for us, that more often than not, this park is not a super busy place. Dont get me wrong, the park can easily and quickly fill up with people depending on what time of the year it is and what time of the day it is. But thats not the normal setting at Molalla state park.  Even though it is technically a boat ramp/launch it is not a well maintained one, it has always given off an abandoned, unsafe, long-lost and forgotten vibe. Which scares me to use it but my husband grew up on the river and knows all the nooks and crannies that the Wilmette River tries to hide and thank goodness weve always had success launching and loading our boats and jet skis. We have seen others with less luck than us and it is never a pretty sight to watch a boat or a truck get ruined because the ramp is not clearly marked or even visible from land. Do to those conditions 99% of people come here to swim off the ramp, float around in tubes, launch their kayaks, peddle boats, or little fishing boats. There is always someone fishing off of the ramp and it seems like they are always catching something. There are numerous trails along the river that you can duck off and find that perfect spot to cast a line. There are also little ponds that are inside the park, Ive witnessed a few fish being reeled in from those but personally Ive always only had luck catching gigantic bullfrogs in there. There are public restrooms, picnic tables and a decent amount of parking. Its a nice place to go. I believe if the ramp was even in a sixteenth of the great condition that the Charbonneau marina is in, then the park would become very well-known and immediately over populated, in turn making it not such a great place to go, not a family(and pet) friendly amazing little park.

Nice park for walking or exercising your dog. Went there over Labor Day and still wasnt very crowded. During the week you might not see more than two or three other people. Has your basic park amenities; picnic tables, barbecues public restrooms. Open 6AM to 9PM daily.

Great open spaces and access to the Willamette River. Google Maps directions puts you on the wrong side of the River, so put the boat ramp into your “saved” locations instead. You need to approach from the Canby side.

This is a nice, large park. Its not as specific as nearby Silver Falls State Park, which you visit to see the waterfalls. This one doesnt seem to serve any purpose, which means fewer people. There are picnic tables, a dog area, some unpaved walking trails, and Willamette River boat access. Thats about it. I rarely see many people here. So if you want some solitude, this is a good place for it.

The scenery ranges from Willamette Valley River basin flora to farmland and a hike through a stand of Fir trees. Its dog friendly. Today, some of the neighborhood kids were playing with guns, so we couldnt take the dogs all the way around because our guys are definitely NOT gun dogs. They have picnic tables and barbeques and an area you can reserve. Last thing, they have clean bathrooms with running water. Enjoy your visit!

I just went to the Molalla State Park for the first time this past Saturday, it was smaller than I thought it was gonna be. Because we had rain during the week the trails we a bit muddy, but I could see that on a nice sunny clear spring or summer day this place would be beautiful with all the trees and the river right there next to the trail, I will have to come back when we have better weather and try this hike again. The lawn area seemed to be very nice and there were a few people out with their dogs enjoying the day., it seemed like it would be a nice place for a picnic or Barbecue.

As many parks/hiking trails are not so dog friendly these days its great to have a place local that you can bring the dogs where they can run and play. Be aware that many people take their dogs off their leashes here so if thats not your thing this may not be the place for you. Side note the scenery is beautiful and would also make a great place for family photos.

One of the best parks in the region. Large field for dogs to run off leash. Large picnic area with good bathrooms - running water and soap! Boat ramp, tons of parking, and several nice trails. And I havent even seen the whole thing! But for swimming, you do have to wander a ways into the woods and the trails that do go to the river arent for everyone.

This is a great place to put in a kayak for a trip up the Willamette river. There is a good concrete ramp down to the water. The parking situation is not perfect but there is enough room for lots of vehicles if people park correctly. There is a public bathroom and picnic tables for lunch. The park is day use only.

Basically a place to exercise dogs, picnic, walk around the park, and launch your watercraft. Fishing in the ponds seems highly undesirable in August, given the massive growth of beautiful lilie pads and all the felled trees and overgrown brush. Had our fill of ripe blackberries while walking the loop. Did not see any swim beach or good river access except the launch. No fee. Has large group picnic area (by reservation) and host.
