We initially went to go swimming at the beach. It was closed as of Aug. 23. We were bummed that they didnt post the notice on their web page. We did check the web page before we departed. Anyways the park it self was beautiful. There were plenty of picnic tables to hang out on. The playground was cool. Downside there was a lot of people at the play ground. Be careful if your eating food there because the seagulls are vicious. If you are looking for a nice relaxing spot to hang out check it out! Your a very short distance to ice cream. Park was readily available.

Every time I go here, its always an extremely pleasant, and relaxing time. The area is always clean. Its always quiet. Great place to see ducks (at times). Seagulls too. I love the swings that are located by the canandaguia lady docks. Just a wonderful place.

I can appreciate how nice and clean this place is. I know its all due to the gentleman from ashtray Park taking care of it for us (thank you kind sir). Did some search and rescue scent training today and talked to alot of nice people.

The park is a great place for all ages. For the kids there is a playground. Everyone else can swim in the lake, launch kayaks, walk along the lake or enjoy ice cream and beer (although not at the same time) at some local establishments! The Canandaigua Lady is also close by and offers scenic boat tours up and down the lake. A wonderful resource for Canandaigua!

Its enjoyable to walk with our dogs along the path from the loading dock at Kershaw Park up to the round-about near Canandaigua Inn on the Lake. The park has several sheds for families to gather and grills to cook on. It also has bench swings to sit on while enjoying the Canandaigua Lake view. Too bad, the view is flat. My son was comparing this to the Adirondacks, which have both mountain and lake scenes. However, this is only a 45 minute drive from Rochester, compared to 5 hours to the Adirondacks.

My husband and I just loved the beautiful Lake views and leaves just starting to turn colors. Town has really put a lot into making everything attractive but not overdoing commercially.

I love it here but would like to see the city to take over the blight across the street. It could be utilized for so much more than apartments that cant be filled. I would love to see miniature golf and more parkland accessible to the citizens of Canandaigua. Make it a true destination.

Its a pretty great place to go for parties and to just hang out. The pollution is low too. there is a dead fish problem though. Its not hard to find fish bones or actual fish on the shore or in the water. the water is pretty clean from what I can tell. a light methane smell when you pick up the sand, its not terrible, Just noticeable. The water is also really shallow which I really like! if I fall off the jet ski Im still in waist deep water, So its not likely youll drown if youre taller than four feet.

Kershaw Park beach was extremely clean! This is a sand beach and was so nice on our feet. There are lifeguards in duty. They have safety protocol in place for COVID concerns. 10/10. I cant wait to go back! You do have to pay to enter, but it is 100% worth it.

Attempts are being made to force social distancing, but many are ignoring painted lines of separation. Was good until too many people started showing up. Was expected on the holiday though. The beach was welcome summer refreshment.

I love walking along Kershaw Park, especially in the morning before too many folks are arriving. Its peaceful and nice length to walk. I will probably start kayaking here next year, but its nice to get a bite around Canandaigua and walk it off here. I used to swim here as a kid but as an adult it is too crowded and the swim area too small. Great spot for walking your dog too.

During COVID, vacations will be different....however. This place had something that rubbed me the wrong way. Firstly... beautiful lakefront!!! Easy to walk, lots of picnic tables, pavilions, quick bite restaurants, and finally Kershaw Park. You pay to use the beach, the only place you’re “allowed” to swim in that are. However you’ll see people all over the area getting in the water as they please.$5/adult, $2/kid over 5, under 5 free. Not a lot of space to sunbathe or put your things, 2 smallish grassy areas along the beach. The swimming area also small. 3 30ft sections of roped off swimming. Today only 2 areas were open with 2 life guards.THE MAIN PROBLEM WITH THIS BEACH:the lifeguards have megaphones and are apparently in charge of letting every other person in the water that what they are doing is wrong, dangerous, and illegal. They shouted through their megaphones approximately every 2-3 minutes letting people know that might be trying to swim outside the dedignated area, or in kayaks, or leaving their boat in the crowd of them trying to swim to shore. It was confusing and stressful having them literally yelling at every passer by. The poor beach people had no clue what was going on. It would be cool if the lifeguards only have to watch the people in the water, you know, in front of them on the beach. I mean, I thought that’s what I was paying for. Not the strange entertainment of berating all people outside the area of our water.... which was definitely memorable. Probably a once and done kind of place.

This place I would give 5 stars if the COVID rules were not ridiculous. I chose to be safer by not swimming in the roped area (where there were alot of people swimming) and walked in the water and had sat in my intertube. A very nice lifeguard came over and told us we could only be in the roped area to be in the water or we could swim where all the motor boats were. So I could swim with all the people or get hit by boats!?
