This home is not yet a museum nor is it saved. The politicians made promises that were broken and hundreds of thousands of dollars were given in grants that the property owner, nor myself were told about. The NJDEP hired a group of researchers to try an debunk the evidence and refute the story of the witnesses, who all happen to be black, while the entire research team they hired, who actually found the first civil rights incident that MLK was involved with to be insignificant, were all white. The lead researcher, Paul Schopp, has an AAS in history from Burlington County College and in 2012 said he didnt think King ever stepped foot in Camden, was paid $7000 to do a historical hit job. Interestingly enough, after he submitted the study, his $46,465 salary was bumped to over $69,000....hmmm? Why?In a 2015 email to me he said that he tried to save the old tavern where King was refused service, but the bulldozers won out. He went on to say that he knew how important that building meant to Dr. Kings civil rights career, but in 2017 found the same event to be insignificant? The city of Camden has made so many broken promises that we have given up hope. You can thank the local Cabal for this house not being saved. Great Job local Dems!
