The museum was in a convenient location by foot, anywhere in Boston when taking the T. I felt annoyed that there was no monetary break for a veteran-priced ticket. Nonetheless, still worth the admission to go and see all of the riches that the Harvard alumni have donated!

Great place. If you are in the area worth to stop by and explore the art exhibits. There is an entrance fee of $20 for the general public. Not sure of there is a student or senior discount. They also have lockers to store your items. Museum is a good size but u can get thru in couple of hours depending on how much of an art fan u are !

The museum is very clean and organized. The selection of art (my wife is interested in art, me...sort of) was varied and interesting, with a large selection of beautiful paintings, sculpture and historical pieces. The security team there is very friendly and helpful....front desk staff not so much but it was one person acting that way and Im sure there are many other helpful employees here. Still 5 stars as my wife had a wonderful time!

The new building is absolutely stunning. The Museum itself is a major teaching Museum. It has works from virtually all civilizations throughout history. Some of the paintings are iconic and everyone will recognize them. Others I havent seen before. This may be a teaching Museum, but its actually quite large. Make sure you will allot 1 to 3 hours to see it.

This is a very doable museum if you have an afternoon to spend in Harvard Square. They have a very nice variety of eras and artists represented in the collections. The lobby seating is usually full of people studying instead of cafe patrons but that’s to be expected. The staff is friendly and polite. I’m grateful to have such a lovely art museum nearby!

This museum is like a police state. Security guards target people of color and follow them around corners. They need some anti-bias training. There was one old black woman in particular named Nelly who gave us dirty looks as my friend and I entered an exhibit, and kept following us around. There were plenty of other white people, and she wasnt watching them at all. As we were discussing the paintings, she rudely jumped in and told us not to point at paintings (!). The experience was so traumatizing that we ended up leaving the gallery early. My friend was in tears. I’ve been to museums all around the world and this was my first time experiencing this kind of racialized surveillance and aggression. Surprised that this sort of thing happens at a museum run by a university. Wow.

Fantastisch museum in a beautiful building. The collection has a bit of everything: from Early Modernism to Ancient China and from Impressionism to Medieval Art. This is a must see destination while in Boston/Cambridge. Every piece is an important work of art. Cezanne next to Renoir next to Degas next to Manet. It goes on and on. The cafe is a nice spot for a light lunch or to enjoy a beverage. There is a gift shop, too.

So this museum is pretty huge, way bigger than I had expected because of the multiple levels. They have a wide variety of art do you should definitely be able to find something that you like. The weird thing about this place was that you could get coffee right by the entrance to one of the rooms, but still inside the building, and there are no signs saying that you should not take the drinks into the gallery. So my wife and I were yelled at after a few minutes of being in the gallery. In hindsight it should have been fairly obvious that its not allowed, but I would definitely suggest signs, especially because of the close proximity of the coffee area to one of the rooms in the gallery.

After 10 years of planning and 6 years of construction, the Harvard Art Museum was finally reopened in the late fall of 2014. The two-storey exhibition hall, which cost $350 million, brings together all the treasures of the previous three museums. Designed by Renzo Piano, the new pavilion moves the original Art Research Center from the first floor to the top floor, and is equipped with new art restoration and maintenance equipment. The Art Research Center, which is open to visitors, is a major feature of the Harvard Art Museum. Visitors can enjoy some precious original works and have a close look at the experience.
