The staff at the museum are very knowledgeable and the tour very informative. They have a number of WWII aircraft on display and you can go inside of the C-46. The donation they ask for at the door is little for the experience and information you will gain by your visit. Highly recommended. Our tour guide was very friendly and never seemed to be tired of our questions. Many thanks!

This is an amazing museum! They have an immense amount of authentic, rare warbirds at their hangars, most of which are airworthy. If you visit at the right time, youll be able to catch one of their planes starting up or doing an engine run, or even doing flybys (like what happened during my visit). Their volunteers were so incredibly nice and showed me around their hangars while giving detailed explanations of the planes I was looking at. If you have any interest whatsoever in WW2 aviation, aviation in general, or in having a great time, you should definitely check this place out!

The Commemorative Air force Museum is definitely one of the more exciting Passport 2 History participants! Full disclosure: the real meat of this museum are the planes outside. They have a bunch of cool ones, and youre right out on the runway of the airport, so there are actual real planes taking off and landing all the time, which is cool. The coolest part is that there are two planes and a helicopter that you can go into! My toddler loved it! He (literally) didnt want to leave each one to see the next. It was kind of a problem actually... But eventually after our guided tour, we were left to go at our own pace, so we literally went and sat in each of those planes and helicopter again for quite some time as my son for to push all the buttons and steer. This is definitely a great place to check out and take your toddler. It is a $10 suggested donation for adults, which while I understand it, felt a bit pricey as youre not going to be here too long. Not so much for going once... but this is the type of place Id love to visit again and again with my toddler just for a half hour of sitting in the plane, and I wouldnt be able to afford that. The museum part is okay, but fairly small. Its definitely an afterthought to the planes. If youre traveling from LA, there are a TON of places to see not far from here... so you could make a day or it. Check out The Western Foundation of Vertebrae Zoology, The Pleasant Valley Historical Society Museum and Botanical Gardens, The Antique Mall of Camarillo to name a few...

Excellent value and opportunity to view significant aircraft up-close.They have some very rare aircraft and most of them are still in flying-condition. Also, a good sized area in the hangar with WWII artifacts. Our docent was very knowledgeable and I wish we had been able to spend more time there. One word of warning. Sometimes their planes are out (on loan, etc) and they dont reveal that until AFTER they collect your money. I recommend calling ahead of your visit to confirm what planes (if any) will be away.

Great museum with aircraft from the US airforce. Went with the family just on a whim. We were so happy to take a tour with former airmen. They gave so much information about the planes and people who flew them. Super knowledgeable and helpful. Place was clean, organized and the people there were awesome. We plan on going again. Few of a kind museum basically everything there is still airworthy and could be starting up during you visit. There is nothing like watiching a 70 year old aircraft starting up, being able to see, smell, and feel everuthing. So much history and make sure you talk with one of the tour volunteers they are very knowledgeable. Free for military members donations are welcome. I will be visiting again next time I am in the area.

The volunteers and members here have a passion for the history and legacy of American aviation. Its broken down into the museum and the maintenance hangars; The museum side having exhibits for uniforms of the time period, developments throughout the war such as weapons and technology, an extensive archive, and polished, airworthy warbirds poised together. The maintenance side is not typically open to guests but can be glanced into, where you can see the crews hard at work preparing the aircraft for flight.

Located near the wonderful Waypoint Cafe at the Camarillo Airport, this museum and the associated wing of the Commemorative Air Force have a treasure trove of old warbirds still flying! We made the requested donation and were hosted by a very knowledgeable and personable docent. (Not sure if the docents are there during the week.)As luck would have it, a memorial service for a World War II vet was in progress, so we got to see a couple of the old planes do a missing man formation!More recently, we were at the café and got to see a four-plane formation do a flyover.Even if you dont catch a flyover, seeing the planes and watching the men restoring them is fascinating. They even have one of five Japanese Zeros still in existence. Up until a few years ago, Japan didnt even have one!You get to board a World War II cargo plane, as well as a helicopter. The museum itself has a number of amazing World War II artifacts, uniforms, recruiting posters, etc. And there is a great little gift shop.Im fortunate enough to live in Camarillo, so I take all my visitors to the café and the museum. Nobody is ever disappointed.
