This is a very relaxing and beautiful place. It’s very peaceful right in the middle of the city. You can just come in to walk around or sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of this precious natural park.

Most of the signage is gone due to Maria. Not their fault, but it doesnt look like much progress has been made other than cleanup. Pretty place, even if you have 0 clue what you are looking at. Was cute watching all the couples getting engagement photos done.

Perhaps this is one of the most fantastic botanical gardens in the world. It is spacious and it has as well a great historical exhibit of Tanino and other Amerindian historical Artifacts. at least you can roam around here a whole day. at least I could. Guided tours are available at this botanical garden on the site of a historic sugar mill. The entrance fee is Us$5.00 for adults and children from 5 - 12 pay 3 Us$. Distance about a 30 minute drive from San Juan.

Very disappointed. The shops were all closed, benches laying on the ground after the hurricane. Dried leaves on plants, bamboo laying over just looked like the only maintenance done was taking. Not many flowers at all. It would seem that being on the island there would be a larger amount of tropical plants and flowers. Also the old signs with the names of the trees are so worn out they are illegible, and there arent that many of them to begin with. Such a big and beautiful piece of land, but if there is no imsgination to keep it up, it will end up being another attraction to be closed. This has the potential to be like Busch Gardens, just need the right crew to do it I guess. Sad...

We had an amazing experience here our tour guide hector is such a bright knowledgeable man. I learned so much about the TAINO roots in Puerto Rico he honestly answered so many of my questions about their accent and how some words come from the native ancestors of the island. Hector showed us achiote tree and opened a portal to the past when he cracked it open and painted his face like the Indians would do before war. I was so amazed and intrigued. I also enjoyed looking at many beautiful flowers with wonderful scents.

What a beautiful place !! This is a combination of a botanic garden, nursery and park all mixed and combined. They have also a restaurant and to make it even more interesting it is located by an old sugar processing plant on the times when sugar canes were planted in that area. There is a little lake ( I believe is man made) and like it seems like a watter stream (not sure if part of a river or something small but it almost dry when we visited. There are reptiles (iguanas and gallinas de palo), some of them quite big but harmless all over, but especially by the lake. You can rent some boats by the lake or just sit by the side walk. Green is eternal here and the grass is beautiful and well kept. They have all kind of plants and trees planted on different paths. This is really a day stay. You wont regret it. You walk, sit, observe, and enjoy. You can also visit the nursery where they have different plants and trees in different stages of development. Everything is tagged and described. The location is central and very easy to reach on the north of the island. Hope you visit and enjoy if you visit PR. Dont just stay at San Juan, when there is so many beautiful places to visit in the island.

Nice little out of the way park and garden. Saw lots of birds and several 3 foot long lizards (iguanas? ). There is a snack bar or you can picnic, some historic plantation buildings and clean restrooms. The hosts spoke English and Spanish and were friendly and helpful. I wish the plants and trees were labeled so you knew what they were. Lots of nice walking paths, a creek and bridge. Lots of shade but beware of the lizards. They jump down 8-10 feet out of the trees.

The reason i gave it a three star instead of five, is because after the hurricane Maria the place is destroyed, and still charge you at the entrance. It’s only $5 but the place is destroyed and they haven’t fixed it or cleaned it completely yet. But I could tell that i was beautiful before the hurricane.

In honor of a good man, willie miranda marin. They have adjusted the price for closed exhibits. This is a real nice place and the layout is very well planned. Unfortunately is been a year and...they are not recovering. Many exhibits are in bad shape, lighting is gone and the fauna limited. My question is why they have one lady working on the grounds and four at the ticket counter? Shouldnt be the other way around?
