The Derby Steakhouse is located off Harrison Avenue. It has adequate parking. It has a bar/casino which I didnt visit. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. We were seated as soon as we walked through the door. We had water at the table along with warm bread as we perused the ample menu. Of the many appetizers available, we chose the baked Brie which was delicious. As it was Friday, the soup of the day was clam chowder, which I ordered. The clam chowder was excellent. My wife had a spinach salad with vinaigrette dressing that she enjoyed. My wife had the lobster with pasta and white sauce which she declared was just right. I had the 16oz. Rib Eye, medium rare, with baby red potatoes and broccoli. The meal was superb! For dessert I had the lemon cake which was the right choice after such a delicious meal. The waitress was very professional and very pleasant and ensured that our dining experience was top notch. I heartily recommend The Derby Steakhouse!

Best steak I have ever had will go back every time Im in butte

I loved this place... quality food and great service! Two perfectly made cocktails. Then a spinach salad with magical house vinaigrette that tasted likes a hint of cherry & spice. I then had big fat tempura fried shrimp with a baked potato and perfectly cooked broccoli. So good!!

Service was good! Food was good but nothing spectacular. Had the fish and chips and it was good. Someone near us had to keep sending their food back so that delayed us getting our meal. Server was super nice though!

It is a good place. It is kind of old because it smells like mold once you step in there. Good service. The food is not bad but it needs some more flavor to it. Hope they can do something about that mold smell there.

Delicious! Shared a rack of ribs and the coconut shrimp with my husband... and had enough left over for lunch tomorrow. Our servers was great!

I have always loved this place until today. The reception we got at the door was repulsive. The cook that felt the need to flirt with the hostess and just stare my wife and I down was just too much. We turned around and left before they even sat us. What happened to my favorite Steak house?

Even though we arrived near closing time, we were graciously invited in and seated. Little did we know we were in for a treat. My Filet mignon was cooked to perfection! It was without a doubt... thee most tender, juicy and tasty steak Ive EVER had! Melt in the mouth texture! . Next visit to Butte will be another stop at the Derby for sure

Always a great steak!! The steak seasoning is perfect and the preparation spot on. Bloody mary is awesome and spinach salad the best dressing Ive tasted on a spinach salad. I could go on and on. Cant wait for our next visit.

The service was great, however a cook messed up another tables order 3 times and delayed my meal. Although no big deal, the Shrimp was Ok.

I’ve had steak all over the world, & I say this after eating kobe steak in japan, the ribeye steak I had here is the BEST steak I have ever eatin! I’m from vegas & I plan on driving back just to eat here again!

Very good steak House! I would expect for the prices we paid to be fancier? Waitress and staff were friendly our waitress had to go to the kitchen to answer several questions about the menu so she could have been more knowledgeable about the menu. My New York strip was under cooked had to have it brought back but returned perfect! Overall well be back again for a great steak in Butte.

We enjoyed eating here and the food was delicious. Service was prompt and it was reasonably priced. Two of us had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and one had a steak with steamed veggies. Both meals were great and we will be back.

A worthwhile stop while traveling through Butte! a no frills steakhouse. All things considered its a good value. Big side salads and big soup portion come with steak. Basket of delicious bread. Very reasonable cocktail prices. Id go back

Great NY Strip! Juicy and cooked perfectly. The Derby is my first stop when I am in Butte. I sit at the bar and the service is always great. Play some keno and enjoy a cold beer while you have a top notch steak dinner. Thats what Im talking about!

There should be ten stars for this place! Visiting friends in Butte and they took us to the Derby. The steaks, rib eye and new york, were the best steaks we have had since I can remember and I am 65. The young lady who served us was so nice and gave us great service. Cant wait to come back.

Wife and I enjoyed dinner last night meal was awsome as always,but what really caught or attention was the young high school girl that sat us and cleared cleaned and reset tables, she never stopped was always watching to see if anything needed done or was outta place. Never once had to check her phone or sit down ,if you watch a lot of our young peoples work ethics this is not the norm, her parents should stand proud of the job they have done,kudos.

We came here expecting something descent and nothing even comparable. our waitress served 9 other people before even bringing our bottle of wine. After we put in our dinner order! Then she dropped off the bottle, cork intact and didnt return to cork the bottle for over 10 minute . When dinner was finally served it was fine but cold. Will not be returning

I use to come here for the best steaks around. Great seasoning and quality meat. Today it was lacking. Too salty and the New York had a good chunk of gristle down the center. Good service but quality is not as good.

Simple food done very well. There is nothing flashy about the Derby, but they seem to be very consistent. They dont do anything earth shattering, but I always have a good steak and good service. There is no secret sauce or gimmicks, just good food done right consistently. I never hesitate to go to the derby. Price is good, place is clean, and thers a full bar + you can watch horse races.

Buyer beware , the serf and turf is in the menu as a meal, but it is not. We got charged over $40 for each lobster tail, Australia not main. And then charges separate for the stake , for my wife and I we paid $149.00 still tipped $30.00 as it was not the waitress fault. The owners listed items in menu in a very slick way that is extreamly misleading. For that reson alone we will never return. In Anaconda you can get lobster, prawns, scallops, soup, potato, drinks in an up scall restarant where reservations are needed, still only $100. For 2 people. Look at recipe and see how this was listed even on there. I would go as far to say scam artist , buy 2 pY for 4.

Had the ground round and it was delicious. They were very accommodating with adjusting things to meet some dietary restrictions. Waiter was very knowledgeable about how things on the menu were prepared. 2 thumbs up

My favorite steak. Make sure they give you the correct steak. Sometimes needs to be sent back in or redone but its probably the best once your order is correct. I go here a lot. I give 5 because the steak is that good.

Excellent service and tasty steaks

I got the 16 ounce ribeye. Steak was cooked to perfection and tasted great. The chicken noodle soup was also very good. Got the pasta side with white sauce; it wasnt my favorite and would get the red next time.The issue was it took a long time to get my food, and a long time for the check. Fortunately I wasnt in a terrible rush, but I felt like I was waiting for about 30-40 minutes for my steak, and about 20 more minutes after finishing eating to get my check.Im not sure of this is a common issue or just a one off. Id be willing to try again another time, but I hope things are a little quicker.

My wife and I each had the sirloin lunch special. The steaks were cooked as ordered, and the fries/chips were hot. This was a good steakhouse for a unique mountain town. I am the son of a beef rancher, so I know my way around a steak. The beef was good, but the cuts were uneven - my wife and I ordered the same steaks and they were obviously different weights. The steaks were salty, but every cook seasons the protien different. I was disappointed that the only vegetable they offer is a salad, but this region is northern of any kind of fresh vegetables. It was good, but not the best I have had.

Casagrandas is much more tasty, not to mention cost effective. All the food is frozen and the portions are small.. Someone call Gordon Ramsey! The staff tends to be rather inexperienced and theres a major lack of communication

The service was slow. Our waitress finally asked us if we were ready to order. Except she never gave us a menu. Haha. 4 of us ordered ribeyes and they were dry and chewy. Yuck. Im not too keen on returning any time soon.

Open til 10, not. Arrived at 9:15, they tell me that their closed while I see another waitperson taking menus to a table. If you are going to advertise open until 10pm, be open!

Service was very attentive and she was such a kind person. Food was excellent, pleasantly presented, seasoned and cooked exactly as ordered. It was a bit expensive but I would return again. Well prepared meals in a clean dining area and attentive service is worth an additional cost.

Great food. We went in later in the evening after their dinner rush. The waiter had only 2 tables (6 customers total) and could not seem to get either tables orders or drinks correct or in a timely manner. He asked if we wanted the appetizer with dinner - since our dinner was ready, however he forgot to bring the appetizer out to us earlier... will return IF the wait staff is properly trained in dining service etiquette

Best steak in Butte. Hands down. If you arent from town, you probably wouldnt think that from the outside... But I promise you wont regret it. Last time we went I ordered the petite filet mignon. To. Die. For. Cooked to perfection.

You can never go wrong eating at the Derby Steakhouse. Nice atmosphere, great service and delicious food. I have never left disappointed. My husband and I eat here every now and then. There is a small casino attached in a separate room. Alcohol is available too.

Best food my family ate all vacation. Started with bread brought out to the table it was different had speckles in it was soft and very tasty and either the soup or salad. We had steak, mine was thick, cooked just the way I wanted, it came with spaghetti with a cheese sauce that was really good and broccoli. Would go back. I called my friend who drives a semi truck and let her know to also visit this place.

Customer service has definitely declined in the last couple of years. Visited the Derby for Fathers Day with my parents here from Texas. Thelast time we were together in Butte we ate here. It was great! That was about 3 and a 1/2 years ago. Food quality has definitely declined since then....

The service here was friendly. The Bloody Mary was just spicy enough served with pickled Asparagus, celery, green olive and a pepper! The Rib Eye steak was served hot and juicy - by far the best Ive ever had!

Weve been eating at the Derby for the better part of 30 yrs. 130 mile roundtrip drive today just to dine there. One of the best steakhouses anywhere. The aging process and secret brine infusion is like none other, and Ambers service was legendary. Renee, the proprietor has kept the tradition of perfection alive and well! When do we get to go back...?

I had a 12 oz. New York Steak and it was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was also extremely kind and clearly knew what he was talking about. Im bummed that some other people have given this place bad reviews and wonder how high their standards could possibly be. Overall a very nice dinner.

Steak was a tad on the salty side, but otherwise well prepared. Salad dressing was amazing--they bottle it and I would have brought some home with me if I could have! Local beer is quite good, as well.

We frequent the derby often. But i must say today was the best in a long time. The lunch steak you could almost cut with a fork!

Not entirely sure how this place has as many stars as it does.The restaurant was not busy at all, I think when we arrived there were 2 people at one table and 3 at another. Service was slow, the waitress didnt clear any plates from our starters. I had the shrimp bisque which was okay, not enough shrimp, too big of chunks of some kind of veggie?, looked like mushrooms and maybe peppers but it was hard to tell through the oil on the surface of the soup. My steak was mediocre, Ive had better at a vegan bbq. It was too heavy with whatever seasonings are added then charred to the outside. The baked potato was mealy, but the broccoli was steamed nicely, just needed some butter. The macaroni was not good according to my son, but the hamburger was good. The waitress was nice enough though. Not really worth the price.

New York stake was charred on the outside for a medium rare which negatively affected the taste. The sauce wasnt great. Fries and Caesar salad were okay. The croutons in the salad were awful and harder than normal. The service was okay but the server never cleared any plates in between the courses so there was clutter. Overall, not worth the price they charge.

Had the lunch steak. Reasonable price, great taste (a touch salty), good portion size, great service. They even managed to do a rare plus steak properly which is rare in my experience. Id defintely come back if I lived in the area.

16oz Ribeye W/Xtra veg the sauteed mushrooms app was not what I was expecting, could use a butter sauce or cheese sauce. All in all was a great experience the staff was fast.
