An amazing theater. Anna Marie and her entire team accomplish more than what the community realize. A true gem in the state of Vermont and the city of Burlington

The performance was very entertaining for my 3 year old granddaughter. She loved most of it. Some of the characters shes never seen before so not sure what to make of them, but overall we had a great time. The gift souvenirs were pretty decent, but some a bit pricey. We did splurge to buy a few things for her and her baby sisters at home. We will consider going to another show like this in the future like Sesame Street Live or Baby Shark Live type of thing. The length of the show was just about right for the age, an hour with an additional 20 minutes for intermission.

Love this place. Especially now when we need to connect with others and feel like we are part of a community. The ushers are kind and helpful, the venue is gorgeous, the restoration fabulous, the acts phenomenal and diverse, and you can now bring your cocktails into the auditorium. Win win win!

Nice place really filled up for the Warren Miller Ski show.all kinds of displays and food in t lobby. Large restrooms in the basement. New seating chairs are very comfortable.

Jo
Review №6

If you are over 6 then you will find the chairs small and uncomfortable, with your knees pressing up against the chairs in front of you. :-(. Inside it is beautiful and the events are well run. I also think its overpriced but theres never a shortage of people so its probably just me.

I first started visiting the Flynn as an Elementary student on field trips, and I looked forward to watching the plays and musicals. As I became older Ive started to enjoy the performances (Ive seen some wonderful dance performances here in addition to plays), shows, and concerts. The place is a bit tight, but well kept. There is certainly history within the walls, but they are maintained with modernity in mind. The sound is good and seats ample. Staff and ushers are helpful and attentive, never rude. The Flynn space down below is also great to visit for a show!

Cant bring a beer in to the concert, even though they sell them in the lobby. Security was overzealous. The sound quality is good. Mediocre experience overall. The place books good acts.

Had front row seats for Greensky Bluegrass Band. They were outstanding. Sadly many in the crowd left their seats and stood right up to the stage. This would not have been an issue, but there was an announcement not to do that and nothing was done about it. Left early.

Went to the Flynn Center to see the band Tinariwen, a fantastic band from Mali. The concert was great, but it is the theater Im reviewing. The theater was really lovely, the acoustics very good, the prices surprisingly inexpensive and there really didnt seem to be a bad seat in the house. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the theater is right next to the historic City Hall and a host of restaurants, bars, and stores. I dont have a single criticism.

The Flynn is one of the great historical opera houses in northern New England. It is architecturally classic and beautiful, as well as spacious and comfortable. It is a great venue for a variety of entertainment choices.Community/membership sustained with a friendly and collegial vibe, the Flynn is a gem, located in the bustling Church Street Market area of Burlington.

Really nice theatre, the staff is so nice.My only complaint was that the staff didnt actually seem to know where our seats were, despite them being placed every few feet and stopping us. Also, the rules for food and beverages wasnt exactly clear to me, and we ended up having to eat all our food and drink our alcoholic beverage before entering the theatre.

This is a gorgeous, historic theater, but like other of its kind, some improvements in amenities could go a long way. The main one that comes to mind is the bathroom situation. The line is always around the corner before the show because there are such limited facilities. It would also be great if drinks were allowed in the theater rather than just a small area of the lobby, but I understand the concerns. The staff is always incredibly friendly, but for the high price and overall experience, Id rather catch a comedy show at Vermont Comedy Club or a concert at Higher Ground.

I’m sure it’s great for opera and musicals, but they hosted a rock concert. You can only drink in the lobby, once the show started there were no more drinks available, and they were pretty uptight about everything. The building is very clean and it’s a beautiful theater. The bathroom situation is a nightmare. Long long line for one or two single stall toilets.

Review №37

This historic building is a joy to look at with faithfully preserved art nouveau architectural details everywhere you look. There are no bad seats acoustically speaking, nor are there blocked views of the stage from any seat in the theater. The bathrooms are always clean. Any theater could use another, but I have never missed my show waiting my turn to use one. There’s a nice concession stand with local Vermont products. The venue brings a wide variety of entertainment, from circus acts, to big names in Jazz, kicking off Burlington’s annual Jazz Festival, to local symphony shows. You’ll be glad you went!

Rude! Rude! Rude! I took my family, which includes a special needs child, to the Sunday show. I knew he would have a hard time sitting still for 3 hours, which is why I reserved back row seats. He was not loud or disruptive to anyone. Ushers were very rude to us giving us stares and glares and even TAKING OUR SEATS even tho the 2 rows in front of us were practically empty! Never again!

The Flynn center is an extraordinarily restored Art Deco theater, so it is a real experience to see performances there. That said, they now allow food in, which can be quite smelly and distracting. They also only allow water in if it is in one of their cups, which are quite overpriced. To top off the water issue, there are no water fountains.

The Flynn is a wonderful place to see a show. Very cool art deco decor. Wine and beer served (but you must drink it in the lobby). Its cozy and inviting. On the bad side, the seats are somewhat small so bigger folks beware. And the bathrooms are downstairs though they do have an elevator for the handicapped. Other than that, its awesome. And the shows here are normally top notch.

Loved the Flynn, but the not refunding the $3.50 a ticket service fee after canceling a show is outrageous and infuriating. Ive never run into this buying directly from any other venue. If youre no longer having the show, you are no longer providing me a service. Period. At that point youve charged me $7 for absolutely nothing. Already ticked that I have to scramble to find a new gift for the holidays, more ticked that Ive paid $7 for the service. Well travel to out of area venues in the future.

The Flynn Center for the Performing Arts is a Vermont fixture for interesting shows from music to comedy. I love the old, 1930s theatre - it somehow makes being at a performance even better. Over the years I have seen a Charlie Chaplin film with a full orchestra - that is memorable - dance - and Spalding Grey doing a great interview/performance art. The Flynn brings in unusual and interesting shows that are normally hard to find in our rural state of Vermont. The only thing I have found is that it is necessary to come early to find parking - -
