I was looking for something a little bit more than a once a year event, and found Malia. These guys love paddling. The focus is on growing a group of like minded individuals into a cohesive team. Ive met people I would never have otherwise, and can now call them some of the most important people in my life. Very welcoming group.

The right mixture of competition and conviviality! So happy to paddle with them now for 4 years. And I just never tire of being on Lake Champlain all summer with this wacky and hardworking group.

Liisa and her crew are an awesome group of people that are extremely supportive and encouraging of anyone wishing to paddle with them. The club has both a more professional team full of expert racers and a sports team for those who want to learn, but might not have the time or ability to perform at the highest competition level.I expressed interest at an info kiosk they had. I was welcomed right away at my first practice with the group and found Liisa to be an excellent and highly effective coach (and mentor to me). All the paddlers are very nice, kind, and friendly.There are several times a year where newcomers are invited to try paddling/drumming and see what Mālia is all about. I highly encourage anyone interested in this fun sport to check them out. Im personally thrilled to have found them!

I joined Malia Paddling and Racing Club at its inception and Ive been an active member since.I joined because I was excited about the prospect of being coached by world champions who cut their teeth in the world-leader Canadian dragon boat system.I stay because of that top-notch coaching; because of the excellent program that keeps us progressing as paddlers and athletes; and because of the welcoming group of athletes who have become family.

I joined Malia one month ago and am really enjoying paddling beautiful Lake Champlain with a great group of people!
