Hidden gem of a small canyon where you feel miles away from civilization while youre starting at it from the great view points, AND you can take your dog on the short hike too.
A nice little park that has a loop trail about 1.5 miles in length. The trail follows the top of the canyon and loops down to follow the creek in the lower canyon. The upper canyon had an overlook with east facing views towards the bay. This trail has great natural scenery and is a great little hiking area.
Small suburban park with one main trail (Ed Taylor Loop Trail, 1.5 miles) and a few crossover paths. Access is from local streets. The park has few amenities (no restrooms, no picnic area, no playground), but trail is marked. Not very busy, some dogs are walked in the park. Trail is narrow, rocky, rough with tree roots, or has stairs at multiple points - not suitable for mountain bikes or some disabled hikers. The lower trail along the creek can be very muddy and slippery when rains have been recent.
Kind of a cute surprise. if you’re in the area and want to stroll, I’d say check it out! having said that, there are plenty of options in the Bay Area!Whatever you do, stay safe and enjoy!
If you live in the area and have never stumbled upon this pristine, tucked away park, I wouldnt be surprised. Bring your dogs or kids or go solo, its a fun escape in an otherwise built up neighborhood. If youre planning on heading to the park in the wet season, make sure to wear walking/hiking shoes with some grip as areas tend to get muddy.
Fantastic little local gem. Decent 1.5mi loop work a few variations. Good for dogs and families.
Sweet little 1.5 mile loop in Burlingame. At the high elevation point, there is a beautiful vista. The lower leg of of the loop, Creek Trail, however has some sections with undergrowth encroaching on the trail. It could also use some more signposts and maps, as well as general maintenance. Where is the Parks Department responsible for it?
Landslide almost made me fall, but still fun
Scenic, Spacious and Beautiful Walk
Surprisingly secluded for being amongst homes. It was pretty muddy when we went (due to recent rains); parts of the trail were closed / too muddy to pass without hiking boots. Upside: the creek was lush :)
What a gem hidden away in the residential hills of Burlingame. In an instant, you are transported to a different world almost. Its amazing how isolated and serene the ~1.25 mile trail feels and all you hear is birds, rustling leaves, and the wind. As you descend into the lower part by the canyon, you can also hear the gentle flowing water. The vegetation is completely different at the different levels of the loop making it more interesting. The trail itself is not difficult for a person with average fitness and even children (not small ones) but very narrow overall and gravelly in places. Also the brush comes on to the trail in many places so we were concerned about ticks. Overall, a charming quick hike to get some exercise and experience a slice of nature! Highly recommended but preferably not alone or near sunset hours. We didnt see a soul in the one hour we spent there although there were fresh footprints. There was also a coyote warning that kept us a little bit nervous plus its not too far from mountain lion country (although probably never spotted in this park).
Fun places for hiking
Nice park, very pleasant and feels good to get outside here!
Beautiful 40-minute walk along a small creek.Everything is blooming!
Love this hike! Weve been here a half dozen times now and have never seen it crowded for this hidden gem in the middle of an urban area. This short wooded hike is not difficult, perfect for young kids, and once you find it the first time, its not so hard to get to and enjoy.
Nice, hidden trail in the middle of housing complex. It has good elevation gain, and is 1 1/4 miles long. There are some vista points at the beginning, and a creek running on one side.
Like dropping immediately into the middle of the forest. Wow!
Its like your out in the woods but your not ..perfect loop trail .great for dogs .when it rains I love the creeks.
I thought it was perfectly pleasant, wide enough to walk with someone else. The footing on the upper half of the trail was fine; we didnt venture to the lower half. Few dogs were on leash, but they seemed well-trained.As for kids, my 4-year old seemed safe, my 2-year old made me nervous on portions of the trail.A word of advice: DO NOT enter the trail at the entrance on Arguello at Sebastian; its treacherous getting down to the main loop; instead use the stairs at the official entrance just NE of there on Mills Canyon Court.
Peaceful
Nice hike, forested canyon, live creek most of the year, best after the rains.
Nice for hiking and exploring
Nice neighborhood hike
Babbling brook, views of the bay and some boulders to climb. All in the silence of a city park no one goes to. More than I expected.
Good loop
Steep 1.5 mile loop trail. Visited in August and there was a small creek, enough for the kids to play with. No benches but nicely tucked away in the hilly neighborhood.
Great area to escape in
Nice trail and view over Millbrae
It was so great
Nice valley views.
Dog poops everywhere!
Great easy hiking
