Central Casting posts jobs on social media and their website. You have to be quick and read through the unnecessary verbiage to get to the point of which email to submit to.Constantly. From 9am-6pm ( even when you are working on another set, where they hate for you to have your phone you still have to find a way to submit if you wanna work )You will work as an extra. Usually 12 hours at a time or more - you want that because the longer you stay after your first 8 hours the more money you will get. So essentially that’s the point to endure as long as possible! There are thousands of people registered, so you have to constantly submit emails for these jobs. It’s not based on your talent or really your look either. It’s a computerized database. It’s a good way to get to see the studios and some different areas of LA, find out what’s going on here and get some of your own work done or catch some sleep. The food is usually the best part of the experience. But It can be fun and you will likely see real actors acting ! It can also be very boring and exhausting. On the set you will be treated like a second class citizen and herded into a holding area. You are not considered an actor, despite the fancy name “ background performer “. You are a body and an outfit color to fill the background. That’s it. Don’t kid yourself that this will lead to anything else except the paycheck.

First time here, made a reservation online and woke up at 5 in the morning to go through rush hour traffic and still get to registration for background acting on time. I didnt have trouble finding street parking near the office but there is a train station just down the street with more parking spots. The employees here have been super friendly and professional, had a great first impression. I cant wait to get started working with them soon!

Let me just say that I am loving Central Casting more recently than I ever have. They have made it so much more easy to make changes, get bookings and even yes get registered. I find that I am getting booked more often when I update my photos every so often. When switching over my status from Non-Union to Union I was skeptical to say the least. I have heard so many tales told by fellow BG about not finding work after going over to the Dark Side. Central not switching the status until I was a fully Paid Up SAG Actor. Or being made to work non-U after I joined because my calling service had booked me before I joined.I almost didnt join. But, me being me, I had to see for myself. I have to say it was seamless with Central Casting and I have been getting a lot of Avail Checks and more importantly BOOKINGS.Thank you Central Casting!!

Central casting to me is the best place for anyone trying to begin an acting career to start. It is a wonderful casting company that can set you up with lots of extra work. When i was an extra i got background work on American Dream and Hildago. When you book a job you must be on time if you get a multiple late arrival you will be fired. On set its really cool to see the actors working and production crew. The lunches are usually amazing and you do not need to leave set. I am a mom of 4 now so i am getting my kids involved since i do not have sitter to watch them while i work. If i did not have kids i would try to book a job everyday because it is so fun. My favorite work is when there is costume changes involved and makeup and hair people to make you look the part. When you go down to centeal casting if you are female i suggest to wear minimal makeup because it will help to land you lots of 18 to look younger parts. You cab submit more glamourous photos later on when you get started. If you have no kids nothing wilk hold you back from extra work that involves traveling. On set for Hildago there was opportinity to travel and finish film in another country but I could not go. Good luck to anyone and central casting thanks so much for all the opportunities. They made a small town girl from NY dream to work on tv come true.

Just went in for re-registration and updates and everyone was friendly and efficient. The line wasnt anywhere near as bad as for new registration-- The first session was at 10:30 and there were still a couple spots left at 10:20. The guy at the door said he usually opens it sometime before 9:30 to let the first group in. Looked like the 11:30 session was going to fill up immediately when I left, though. Be aware thats for a Tuesday session-- so no visiting session beforehand.

Great Company! Im very impressed with the service. I came with a friend at registration. We arrived at 5:30am and barely made it in time to get a sidewalk square. I was 63 and my friend was 64 out of 67 entries. It took us four hours to actually get inside the door. Id advise to bring a friend and a chair to sit in while you wait. But once you get in they let you use the restroom and they have a vending machine with food and drinks. Its also a good idea to be dressed nicely. Because you want to be photographed looking your best at registration day. I mean of course you can always come back another day when they have updates but we all know how hard that can be sometimes. So Good Luck everyone!

Orientation is a breeze. The only thing you have to hope for is getting booked as the process can be a probability challenge. They told me they have enough other people who wants to work here and doesnt allow foreigners. Organized. Pro tip when registering. They recently implemented on-line reservations for registering. Go to their website and look at their calendar. Also reading is fundamental. Save yourself time. Dont stand in line, register. As of this review, for days they accept reservations, they open reservation spots 48 hours before. What that means is, is if they have reservations for Friday, they will open/allow sign ups on Wednesday starting 9:10am. Once in, registration is straight forward. About an hour of orientation and going through paperwork, then a head and full body shot. Most dressed professionally for this session.

I registered for Central casting in New York and had a terrible experience because the registration specialist got my number wrong and insisted on not changing the number so I could not receive casting calls. She needs a raise, promotion or her own branch of Central Casting because her professionalism and competence help me through a terrible experience with Central Casting New York. We came, the three of us to sign up to Central Casting for background acting. It was definitely a crazy experience. I did some research before to learn that you must arrive way before the door opening time: 9:10 AM. Some people went as far as saying to arrive at 3:30-4. We decided to get there just before 5 and that was a great call. We were around number 25 of 67. Im not sure if people got really lucky today but it didnt fill to full capacity until much later - not sure when exactly. First comes first goes - that is another motivation to get there early. We finished up somewhere after 11:30 while many others were still in the process. One recommendation, it wasnt clear enough for we in their website: come dressed (or at least have it with u) the way you want to represent yourself to productions. They do have specific time to return and retake photos, but you might as well come prepared.Everyone was very helpful and nice. I understand how some people might get the sense of insensitivty, but hey they get so many dumb questions every day to deal with. I think they do great, and that its a great idea to come with some extra patience, especially when we are the ones seeking work! Looking forward to work with these guys.

If you want to be an actress or not, being an extra through Central puts you on a real working set. You get to watch the various departments working, and see the process. Youll have principled actors working in the scene with you and youll go through hair, make-up and wardrobe. You could be on location anywhere, or be on a studio lot. On occasion, extras get selected by the production or director to speak a line, take a bow, stand in for an actor, or be more featured in the background. Such as being a jury member where your facial reaction is needed, but not your voice).

Their phone system could use improvement. It pales in comparison to their online internet booking and inquiry systems. An appointment is now required for registration where as before you could just show up at their door. But that is a good thing, because showing up at their door used to mean you had to camp out in front of their door for a chance to be seen and registered. They find you work, but you must be diligent. They dont have time for idle chit chatter. Only call them in case of emergencies or if you feel something needs to be explained. You cannot explain via text with them. You must have 2 forms of valid I.d. They will not see you if you dont have proper I.d. Rules may differ for international residents. (Dual citizenship may be required, etc. I dont know. Find out information before you show up). Do not park in their parking lot. Your car will get towed/ticketed. Parking is available on the street, or at the light rail train station. You are better off taking the train there to avoid automobile hassles if you can. They are 5 minutes from the light rail train station.

Did all most antwo hour drive to there today. The website says to come early but does not specify how early. We got there at 8:17am to a line. We were not worried because we knew to expect one. A big black guy came out and started talking to the people up ahead of us at 8:30a. Around 8:45a he came toward the back of the line and counted. He then told us we were not going to make it in and he would tell us how to come back next week. He then gave us a run down about coming as early as 2am and at the latest 4am to start waiting in line. He then said another person got there at 10pm the night before. He said to bring food, chairs, and blankets if you can because it would be a while. The website does not say anything like that. I traveled from San Bernardino for them to turn us away. Clearly not going back and I would not recommend it to anyone.

If I could give it to NO Stars I would. Central Casting has been known as the Tycoon for castings and extra castings in the Heart of Los Angeles and maybe now United States. Ive probably come here five times. They have a limit of number of people that see a day. The do these castings every week like clockwork. People line up 4 am, 5 am,. 6 am. Ive gone there about 5 times and NEVER been scene. Were not even guaranteed to get seen even if you show up. They have a limited number of spots. Yet daily they put out castings, desperate need of new talent. I dont get it. Wheres all the people in your pool??? I dont know if I should try or give up with Central Casting. Ridiculous. Im not happy this morning!!!! Driving back home at 6: 01 in the morning the office isnt even open till 9am. They are too big of a company to be acting so unprofessional. The service here is excellent. The staff are super friendly and organized. Their reputation as a casting company for the Hollywood studios goes way back, all the way to the Black and White movie films. They also conduct classes for beginners. To register, you can get preliminary information from their website, then attend a registration session. Because of limited seating, sometimes they can not admit everyone in the registration line. So I suggest getting there early, or plan to attend the earlier session if there are two offered on the same day; that way if you encounter extra long waiting line and cant get in, you have the choice of staying in line and get top priority for the next session.

What youve been hearing about 5:30 is pretty accurate. I came in at 5:15 and barely snuck in, but some of the 5:30s behind me didnt make it. Generally, people in line are cool if you have to run to a bathroom, but for sure bring things to do. Also, since some people are just there for support and to hang out with their friends it can be hard to do a count, but if there are already like, 80 people, you may as well go back to sleep and try another day. Theyre pretty strict with the number, and if people didnt bring their paperwork, there are only three slots that can open up, even if more forgot. Good luck! Or break a leg? Either or.

Ive always had a great experience with the agents at Central, but almost three months ago I was double booked (I booked a show and was then recalled to a previous show). I called central to determine what I should do, and they said I had to attend the recall because that took priority over another booking - even though it was actually booked. I was transferred to both casting directors and told that it was taken care of, and I should attend the recall. A month later, my account was suspended for 60 days because of this. I have no idea why it took a month for them to figure out that this happened, but it did, and the account was suspended until March 11th. I wrote a detailed explanation to dispute the suspension, and a week later received a generic email stating Your dispute has been received and your account remains suspended. I tried to get more information, an explanation, but Melissa in talent relations took weeks to reply to my emails or voicemails. I tried to be patient - I only left 7 voicemails over two months, and sent 6 emails (at the same time, to reference the messages). I finally got a hold of Melissa two weeks ago, and she made no effort to explain why my account was still suspended, and she said she would follow up with the casting directors to ask them what happened, and get back to me. That was already two months later, so I doubt they would remember anything. But, Melissa never replied yet again. Since they took a month to even decide to suspend my account after anything happened, it will have been suspended for 90 days because of a mistake that one of the agents made. I know they have a million people who can do background and its very clear and apparent that they could care less about the people that work for them because of how many people are in line to replace them. This was never my primary source of income, it was fun, but I at least expected the staff to be courteous and professional in the way they treat the people that make them money at the end of the day.
