This is a diamond in the rough that few people know about. The infrastructure looks new with 2 nicely paced parking lots, paved walking paths and full view of a historical lock. New trees have been planted and the lawn has not been neglected.

Its a great park to see the Niagara River sunsets. The park can be crowded in the summer, but its empty in the winter. I recommend it for a dog walk , bike ride, picnic, train spotting, and bird watching.

GOOD VIEWS, FISHING AND A TRAILIts a nice spot for fishing and the view is mesmerizing. The mini bridge to the park is a two-way but has only one lane. If its your first time, dont get confused as I was. If you see oncoming vehicles, just wait for them to cross the bridge, as a courtesy.PARKINGDo yourself a favor and drive all the way to the end of the park and park your car there. Then keep walking straight. The end of the park has better views, in my opinion.

This Park is perfect for a person with a strong desire to walk next to the great sound of water, because these short waterfalls are great, plus the place is also nice for taking pictures or just romantic walks with your special someone. The park is just basically lovely for walks, pictures and fishing

The park was completely trashed when my family and I went here. There was trash everywhere and several full size garbage cans that were mostly empty. It doesnt appear that it gets cleaned regularly or that anyone cares to pick up after themselves.

Although the park is well kept, it is right next to the Buffalo Sewer Authority...so I dont recommend eating the fish if you go fishing. Also, this place seems to be popular for doing drugs, etc...as it is off the beaten trail.

I have been coming here for over ten years now. Only found this place while geo caching in my earlier days. Not a lot of people use this park for recreation but wow this summer there has been a lot of poeple. I love come all different times of the year. Mostly early spring when the ice is moving and you get an appreciation for how fast that water is really moving. The only thing missing are facilities for restrooms.

Beautiful Park on the water, Lots of greenery and trails to walk there is also a mountain biking Section. You can walk or ride all the way to the bird Island pier. There is a lot of trash blowing around that is the only reason that I gave it 4 stars. ALSO my F150 was the ONLY American made vehicle on the island;( out of over 200 cars ;(

Great outdoor park along the river. Offers a excellent spot for fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Not to mention this history of the swing bridge you cross to get into the park, and the international railway bridge on the other side of the island. The only negative thing is the road on the island is in need of repair.

Review №88

This is an interesting park. Like Squaw Island to the south, this one is a bit difficult to find. You will need to cross a single-lane metal decked railroad bridge to gain access. There is parking at the park. The park itself is pretty peaceful and very safe (there is always a border crossing patrol car parked next to the international railroad bridge to the south of the park). If you meander long enough, you will come cross the first technical set of locks for the Erie Canal waterway system (the canal beings just north, where Tonawanda creek empties into the Niagara river for those curious and unfamiliar). I am unsure how frequently this lock is used, I havent seen it in operation but it is well kept. If you take the pathway to the south west of the park just note youre walking past the sewage treatment facility and it usually has a particular smell wafting in the general vicinity.
