This is a diamond in the rough that few people know about. The infrastructure looks new with 2 nicely paced parking lots, paved walking paths and full view of a historical lock. New trees have been planted and the lawn has not been neglected.
Its a great park to see the Niagara River sunsets. The park can be crowded in the summer, but its empty in the winter. I recommend it for a dog walk , bike ride, picnic, train spotting, and bird watching.
GOOD VIEWS, FISHING AND A TRAILIts a nice spot for fishing and the view is mesmerizing. The mini bridge to the park is a two-way but has only one lane. If its your first time, dont get confused as I was. If you see oncoming vehicles, just wait for them to cross the bridge, as a courtesy.PARKINGDo yourself a favor and drive all the way to the end of the park and park your car there. Then keep walking straight. The end of the park has better views, in my opinion.
The place is beautiful. Canada on the other side. Peace Bridge view.
Calm and quiet place to have an early morning walk
Trash needs to be attended to, went in for a few Geo caches, which we found. Can a few more benches be placed? One of Buffalos secrets!
This Park is perfect for a person with a strong desire to walk next to the great sound of water, because these short waterfalls are great, plus the place is also nice for taking pictures or just romantic walks with your special someone. The park is just basically lovely for walks, pictures and fishing
Quiet little spot with some great views.
It was a very nicely appointed part of a much longer bike ride. Buffalo bike trails are great.
Its a fun place to fish with such a diverse group of people. I highly recommend.
Nice place, lots of open space, interesting structures — railroad trestle and lock — as well as long pier. Nice views.
Its a beautiful sanctuary! Absolutely lovely.
It’s ok cool place
Nice park and amazing views of the niagra river and the international railroad bridge.
The park was completely trashed when my family and I went here. There was trash everywhere and several full size garbage cans that were mostly empty. It doesnt appear that it gets cleaned regularly or that anyone cares to pick up after themselves.
Is beautiful like god natures is calling us fun every body can come in visit love it
Such a beautiful place
Its been revamped from squaw island.Last time i was there there was a make shift market. I have no idea what that was about but i can say for sure it wasnt legit.Good fishing spot, wouldnt go at night unarmed. It is very secluded.
Had a great time
Relaxing environment! Need some trash removal. Needs some cleaning but has great potential. Near the water!
This park is mostly blank green space with little to do but fish.
Parks nice, wasnt great fishing
Trash is everywhere and I saw 2 needles...I cant believe the city would let a place as beautiful as that be so nasty and trashy
Great park to get close to the water
Felt so unified it was practically undignified!
The immigrants think its there park parking on the grass driving on the grass and walking path.
Great spot to catch a sunset, great place to walk or ride a bike as well as fish
Needs some fixing up make it look nice
(SQUAW ISLAND) UNITY ISLAND NOW THIS IS MY BEST FISHING SPOT IN BUFFALO NY I LOVE THIS SPOT COOK OUTS EVERYTHING I EVEN TOOK A PIC WITH BRIT ME AND MY NEPHEW IN FRONT AND OUR MAN IN BACK A REAL FRIEND!!
Although the park is well kept, it is right next to the Buffalo Sewer Authority...so I dont recommend eating the fish if you go fishing. Also, this place seems to be popular for doing drugs, etc...as it is off the beaten trail.
I see Canada
Its a great park! Its right on the river with an amazing view of Canada. Part of the park is open 24 hours a day for licensed fishing. One of only 3 parks in Buffalo that are open 24 hours for fishing. Its also connected to pupluc boat launches.
O ver crowed park.
Nice and relaxing island view
I was stuck in the bridge for 5hrs, They have to do better job
This is a beautiful park to spend time with friends and family.
I have been coming here for over ten years now. Only found this place while geo caching in my earlier days. Not a lot of people use this park for recreation but wow this summer there has been a lot of poeple. I love come all different times of the year. Mostly early spring when the ice is moving and you get an appreciation for how fast that water is really moving. The only thing missing are facilities for restrooms.
Nice chill spot, Squaw Island, has had Lots of changes over the Decades ..Renaming it???
A beautiful place to visit and fish ️ the locks, etc.
Great way to enjoy a wonderful trip up the buffalo canal way system.
Its a nice park and you can see all the Asian people there. but its doesnt have anything for the kids to enjoy the day. The government need to update this park and more stuff for the people to enjoy the day
Beautiful Park on the water, Lots of greenery and trails to walk there is also a mountain biking Section. You can walk or ride all the way to the bird Island pier. There is a lot of trash blowing around that is the only reason that I gave it 4 stars. ALSO my F150 was the ONLY American made vehicle on the island;( out of over 200 cars ;(
My wife and I went down to catch a Pokemon. Good amount of parking
Nice quiet peaceful park. I just dont like the one way in and out. When its a lot of people it can be a while getting in or out. But its a beautiful park
Love going for walks and this is so close to my house..
Beautiful park to visit with friends and family!
Much nicer trails then there were a few years ago. Still trash around because people are alone but I also didnt see many city trash containers.
Great outdoor park along the river. Offers a excellent spot for fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Not to mention this history of the swing bridge you cross to get into the park, and the international railway bridge on the other side of the island. The only negative thing is the road on the island is in need of repair.
Love It. Great Scenery
Love going here
Went to a picnic/cookout here and it was great! Nice little park that not a lot people know about so theres not a lot of other groups of people trying to share space with you.
Our community leaders were so glad that the Town Board allowed us residence to change the name of this park to Unity Island. Year around you can see many people enjoying the outdoors here.
Entry way to the bike path from Niagara St still closed, ughhhh!
Always a place i like to go when i want to relax
Great place to visit
Love the peace and quiet of the park
Its a nice little park to walk or ride around. I go through here all the time cycling.
I must have driven by it on the way to Niagara Falls.
This place is Unity park. come visit sometimes and buy some good food. Your welcome
Multi uses of Park, fishing, lawn sports, right on the mighty Niagara. International Railway Bridge very active cuts through park. Relaxing scenic. Treasuries of Buffalo
More seafoods, available price and nice stuffs services, I have eaten 2 times.
Nice place to fish
Bomb perch fishing
Great local park
Peaceful and quiet during the week but very crowded on Friday and Saturday
Alway nice to hang out with friends
A little hidden spot of beauty. Lovely park.
Beautiful scenery just across the railroad tracks. Great place to pack a lunch and enjoy the beauty of nature.
This is a pretty nice park, plus at night theres Border Patrol to talk to!
I like this pic cuz Ive been third before and it is very gorgeous
Fresh air, nice view, space
Excellent park in a great location that has some great fishing spots. Must visit!
Lived in Western New York on my life and didnt know about this amazing beautiful place!! :-)
Excellent place to kayak or fish on the upper Niagara River - USA
Walk the river bridge its incredible
Nice park with great views
This is a park thats built on top of a landfill that once was a smaller Island in which the War of 1812 was also fought on. An American battleship crash-landed here A battle broke out overall the remaining artillery.
Paradise on earth
Nice waking path
This is an interesting park. Like Squaw Island to the south, this one is a bit difficult to find. You will need to cross a single-lane metal decked railroad bridge to gain access. There is parking at the park. The park itself is pretty peaceful and very safe (there is always a border crossing patrol car parked next to the international railroad bridge to the south of the park). If you meander long enough, you will come cross the first technical set of locks for the Erie Canal waterway system (the canal beings just north, where Tonawanda creek empties into the Niagara river for those curious and unfamiliar). I am unsure how frequently this lock is used, I havent seen it in operation but it is well kept. If you take the pathway to the south west of the park just note youre walking past the sewage treatment facility and it usually has a particular smell wafting in the general vicinity.
Best place on earth
Disappointed that the path did not go along side of river. Nothing special here.
