This place is beautiful. I love architecture and beautiful buildings and homes in general. Everything from the woodwork to the ceilings and fireplaces are gorgeous. If youre a fan of Frank Lloyd Wrights work, or architecture in general, youll love this place.

Cool place to check out if you are in town for the weekend. They offer self guided tours (during covid) with personnel along the tour to help answer any questions you might have. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and there is outdoor seating available if you want to relax in the gardens.

I love that visitors can wander through the magnificent grounds and appreciate the landscape freely.

Really cool place. Probably cooler on a tour when its not pandemic times. As it was, I didnt like the set-up with so many docents. It made feel rushed and pressured. Its hard to talk amongst your own party with other people listening in to jump into your conversation. Its a beautiful place, but Id much rather read than talk to seniors that have a hard time staying 6 feet away.

Very cool grounds pleasantly lit at night. Some very interesting 8 foot painted sculpted vases displayed on the premises at present (Sm2030). Interior and grounds look warm inviting, manicured and brilliantly designed. We only did a walk by on the perimeter sidewalk and did not have interior access . From my wife having gone inside before she tells me its a definite five-star I would recommend a visit anytime of day

Amazing example of Frank Lloyd Wrights vision. The house is both imposing and very livable. It is amazing that it was futuristic in 1903 and it is still very futuristic now, albeit in a retro futuristic way. It is amazing the level of detail that exists and the absolute control Wright had on his vision. Down to the furniture and placement of the pictures. If you have not visited you should. Just to see the formal masterpiece that FL Wright designed. Then to see a more feminine influence I would visit Greycliff in the early summer.

My husband suprised me with a trip to the Martin house for our Anniversary. The whole property is stunning. If you can swing it, go for a private tour to see everything. The whole second floor is private tours only.

What a wonderful experience, touring the house with my children. Theres so much to learn and everyone enjoyed a couple of hours doing so. Weve already made plans to return for a picnic and take the 2-hour private tour.

We decided to check out the Martin house to basically kill some time. So glad we picked this attraction. Definitely Buffalos hidden gem.The one hour tour was very informative and interesting. The guide was enthusiastic and did a great job answering questions and staying on schedule. Wish we had time for the 2 hour tour as you get to see the second floor, bedrooms and maybe downstairs? (Not sure)The restoration is impeccable. I was shocked to learn that a couple of the buildings have been completely rebuilt.

A fact-filled delightful experience! My tour guide, Andy (pic), obviously enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for this lovely landmark. Everything on this one hour tour was perfect. Note that there is no indoor photography. The welcome center has a very good video presentation prior to your tour of the house. The gift shop at the end of the tour has items tastefully presented and is staffed with pleasant and professional folks who clearly love the place!

Another well presented, extremely well conserved example of FLRs architecture. This house has been extremely well renovated with attention to detail unsparingly used. It was a delight to see this house in the context of the neighbourhood environment, only enhancing its splendid form even more! Well worth a few hrs or minutes just to drive by.

What an amazing place! A complex of buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Darwin Martin and his family, each demonstrating a particular version of Wrights early genius. A gardeners cottage, a beloved family members home and the wonderful Martin house, all letting us into Wrights fascinating mind, but also allowing us to witness life 115 years ago.My daughter and I have been promising each other to go to this place for a couple of years, and today we made it happen. The docent, Richard B., is a great raconteur and obviously knows his material well; he also shows a great affection for the house and grounds.Anyone who is a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright, or early 20th century architecture, or just wants to explore this beautiful home, needs to come and experience it!A wonderful gem in the Queen citys crown!!

Amazing! Not only does this place look amazing but I was so lucky to have Stephen as my guide on the Martin house plus tour. A two hour tour of the entire campus covering 5 different buildings upstairs and down. If you are in Buffalo and want to feel architecture touch your soul please go here. Stand in the entrance and look back at Nike rising above on her wings of victory. Its as if not more powerful than walking into a grand basilica. Stephen was friendly warm inviting and very knowledgeable. Well worth the 45 tour. One of the most affordable Wright tours for an extended tour. This is a Buffalo must!

A must see for architecture, design, and Frank Lloyd Wright fans. The tour guides were knowledgeable and went in-depth into the history of the home. You are able to really see the masters work up close and experience the craftsmanship that went into building this iconic home. We were only able to do the 1-hour lower level tour and would definitely come back to see the upper floors. It’s a must see in Buffalo!

We have seen many Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and have always enjoy his works. This one did not disappoint. The history of the Martin family, the site and the preservation efforts of many, make this one well worth while touring. We traveled many many hours to take our tour, very worth while and we plan to go back again when we are in the area, this time to see the summer gardens.

We did the 1 hour tour, now I wish we had done the 2 hour tour! The fireplace is stunning! The entire house is incredible really. Our guides were great (sorry guys, cant remember your names). If you are even remotely interested in architecture, Id highly recommend checking this place out!

Had a nice time with the Two-Hour tour option. The only way to see everything. Saddened though that theres such copyright or whatever the reason, photos are prohibited inside. :-( Great tour though; guide was knowledgeable and no-nonsense, but a little humor built in. Lots to see and much to appreciate here and in Buffalo.

Absolutely loved what they did to the house. Our guide was amazing and very patient with my 3 year old. We bought quite a few items from the gift store - they are just so artsy and nice! We became a member on this first visit.

Who would think that such a gem is tucked away in this quiet residential area. In these times of such turmoil the tranquil atmosphere and beautifully landscaped grounds were both therapeutic and encouraging.

An absolutely stunning piece of architecture

Such a gorgeous house! The tour guides really have a great knowledge on the history of the property, the archictect and the family who lived there. I highly recommend taking a tour, you will not be disappointed. I took my best friend here while she was visiting Buffalo because she is a fan of the architect and we had a great experience, she loved it! Keep in mind, you can only take pictures outside the house on a normal tour. They tell you when you are able to but that didnt take away from the experience at all.

It is the combination of a great masterpiece of Frank Lloyd Wright and the exceptional life story of the owner Darwin Martin that makes this house so unique and worth the visit. It is an early work of Wright, however, all his typical elements and concepts are showing. Take the two hour tour where you get to see most of the complex. Our excellent guide Larry was knowledgeable and told us in detail the story of the house salvation and restoration.

I loved visiting the Martin House! Frank Lloyd Wright is a true master of architecture and this prairie home goes to show for it. You should go and see this house so the preservation can be truly restored to what it once was, even though what you get on this tour is still well worth seeing.

It would be a shame for you to be in Buffalo and not make a point of visiting this monumentally important Wright building. It’s significance cannot be understated. Tours are 1 or 2 hours, and are well worth it to wander through the grounds and the property and imagine just how groundbreaking this house was more than 100 years ago. Fascinating history and gloriously restored ( 52 million dollar fund!) and its going to be even more spectacular now that the gardens have been redone as per original design. Well worth a walk around the neighborhood of Parkside too, and see the influence of Frederick Olmstead, the designer of Central Park, in the area.

Beautiful remodel/remake of a beautiful compound. If you really like FLW do the 2 hour tour because you get to see much more of the house.

This place is incredible. I highly recommend the 2 hours tour as you get to see way more and learn more. There are multiple buildings on this complex and a museum. Be prepared to be amazed. Help preserve this place by not touching the inside or outside of the house other than the handrails.

I was impressed by the FLR Martin House Complex. Needless to say, Frank Lloyd Wright was a gifted architect. The restoration society has done an excellent job with the complex. They are currently working on restoring the landscaping. Our tour guide provided an excellent insight into the complex, the Martins, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Going back again.

Call ahead for tour times if you can. We got there when they opened and managed to catch an hourly tour. It limits you to the main floor and the grounds. There is a 2 hour tour that will get you into the upstairs (only 1 room restored) and the basement which is also finished. The vacation house fills quickly and can only accommodate small tours (its 20min away and also FLW design). We spent 1.5 hours here and didnt see more than half the property. The shorter tours also dont show the adjacent house.Parking is limited mon-wed but the other days was fine on the street at opening. We drove around a bit for comparison against other houses in the neighborhood. This is by far the largest one. They recently redid the landscape and it opens up the house for pictures but replanting all the trees takes something away from it.Our tour guide was very good and helped to show and explain the details that would be missed just looking around. They explained much of the logic theory and restoration process. Photos inside are not allowed like many FLW properties but outside and green house were permitted.

September 2 2019: Absolutely amazing tour with Dave on this piece of American history. A true gem property that Buffalo calls its own. We took the 2 hour tour, and finished wanting more.

After decades of meticulous (and expensive) refurbishment and rebuilding, this complex of buildings has at last been fully restored. To understand Wrights greatness, you really have to go through his buildings; photos just arent sufficient.

Great place to spend some time. Tours are very educational and interesting. Good photo opportunities as well.

Truly a Wright Masterpiece. Spend the extra $ on the 2 hour tour. Incredible interior spaces.

Absolutely amazing architecture! And so much history in this property! The tour was great, however, we only did the one hour tour so we didnt get to see the second floor- be sure to do the 2 hour tour. Only complaint is that pictures arent allowed in the house.

The house is amazing and a great Wright house. Im giving it two stars because of all the chain link fences. It completely ruins any way for visitors to enjoy the house with the landscaping.Definitely stop and check out the house. But be prepared for the chain link.

Wow! Loved visiting this iconic home. I will be coming back again soon to take the more in-depth your and see the reconstruction of the landscapes. The visitors centre is amazing and the staff were very welcoming.

A fantastic example of Frank Lloyd Wright early prairie design. A must visit when you are in the Queen City. Parking on the street is free or park at the zoo a block away. The visitor center is modern, with great exhibits. Washroom are clean and wheel chair friendly. The restoration is almost completed. Next phase is a new coffee/refreshment facilities. Choose between 1 or 2 hours tour. Gift shop was the old carriage house.

We took the two hour tour. Our guide was excellent, well informed and clearly passionate about the complex. The house itself was every bit as beautiful as it was impressive. I left a proud Buffalonian.

The 1-hour tour of this building was well worth the time and very well run. Informative 9m video at the beginning. The tour had an engaging guide named Bill and the audio system that made it easy to hear. Would definitely recommend!

Took the 1 hour tour and was very impressed. The tour guide has a passion for the house and can answer almost any question. The 1 hour tour only includes the first level of the main house. Highly recommend visiting and spending 2 hours if possible. The tour is standing only, as you cannot touch any furniture. Walk-ins are available and the museum offers discounts.

I thoroughly enjoyed my two hour tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright house and other properties on the premises. (Much more informative than the one hour I did last year.) While we were touring, we could observe the landscapers completing the work on the grounds. Everything looks fabulous inside and outside. I especially enjoy all of the stories that the guides share with the visitors. Great place to spend an afternoon

This was a gorgeous house to visit. They have guided tour, which I highly recommend. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about the architecture and the history of the house, which was all fascinating. They dont let you take photos inside the house, which is too bad. But other than that, it was a great place to visit.

My husband and I did the 2 hour tour while in town for the weekend. The docent, Dave, was fantastic with indepth knowledge. Definitely do the 2 hour tour if you have time, having a chance to see the Barton house, the Gardeners Cottage and the additional rooms of the main house were worth it.

Had a chance to take a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Darwin Martin house now that it is complete including the grounds. A must see if you live in Buffalo or come to visit. Hard to find adjectives.

It was a really fun tour! I went on the hour long one but there a two hour tour that features more of the house. The tour guide is very informative. Unfortunately you cant take any pictures inside the house. But once you get in the conservatory pictures are allowed and that building is just as cool. Highly recommend.

Stunning example of early Frank Lloyd Wright with multiple homes, gardners cottage, stable (converted to store), conservatory all in pristine restored condition. Was glad we purchased the 2hour tour as it was extensive & we were able to tour all of the buildings. Lots of street parking in the area. Excellent tour guide, with pre-tour short video in am adjacent new building. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic story behind the history of the builder, owners and the house.Great tour guide... friendly, knowledgeable, thorough! We did the 2hr tour.Attention to detail is amazing, I was more impressed than I expected experience.The gift shop is really nice with lots to offer. The only downside of the visit, the Cafe was closed, even though the hours posted AND I confirmed with the employees. Not sure what the deal was... And they dont allow ANY kind if photography inside, even with no flash on a cell phone.Still, we head a really good time, worth a visit if youre in the area!

The house is beautiful and seems to be restored well. I really liked that they used ear pieces so you could still hear if you were in the back and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. The only disappointment was not being able to see over half of the house or any of the numerous letters or plans for the house they have. Had we known there was an option to see all of it, we would have gladly purchased those tickets.

If you have any interest at all in architecture, this is a must visit spot. I had no idea it was actually a complex of buildings Wright designed. The renovations at $50M are impressive and you get a hint at the wealth involved in the construction.

The history of the renovation efforts to save this gorgeous Frank Lloyd Wright home. The story of the renovation almost rivals the original construction efforts. Wonderful docents at this location. A pleasurable start to our trip.

With all the newly restored and reconstructed portions of the property taken into account, the Martin House is transcendant and easily fits among Wrights best work. It is mind-numbingly beautiful. I took the long tour and it was excellent - I actually wish it was longer, so I could take-in every tiny detail.

The restoration is very well done and the tour was informative. Deducted one star because of the cost $22 per adult.

It was enlightening to visit the structures designed by someone of historical significance. The grounds are well laid out, which allows one to observe, many of the architectural features at once. This allows for close inspection, as well as an excellent view from afar. Its a truly beautiful place.

Im not a huge fan of architectural design, but this complex was really amazing. And our guide was wonderful in explaining the history and the details of the families involved in the building of the homes.

Beautifully restored and expertly presented. The docent gave a fascinating tour; it was two hours long but the time just flew by.

Always wanted to see this beautiful location but never thought I’d have a reason to be in the area. Our son was in school at West Virginia U so while visiting him took a short scenic drive to Ohiopyle and Falling Water. Absolutely worth it! The grounds are gorgeous and great historical home. Took some of the hiking trails to the overlook too. Rough but fantastic views. Highly recommend!

I loved the 1 hour tour. Would love to go back for the two hour tour once the restoration is complete. The tour guides are so enthusiastic and amusing. We visited during a stay in Niagara Falls through, easy drive. There is only street parking in a neighborhood available, so plan time for that because they start tours promptly at the tour time. I recommend buying tickets online ahead of time, our tour was on a weekday and still full.

Beautiful house and grounds, but only way inside is via guided tours that start at 1 hour long. So dont go unless you have plenty of time. Employees ranged from friendly and affable to snooty and condescending. You also need to find street parking as there appeared to be no nearby lot/garage.

When visiting family in Buffalo, my mom and I decided to take a tour of this piece of history; we werent disappointed. The history of this house is intriguing and very surprising. The amount of care that has obviously gone into crafting the most authentic experience of this house is astonishing. If youre ever in town, you should at least walk around the grounds and look at the compound, but I highly recommend that you take the two hour tour. There is an option for a two or one hour tour, with a price difference (on their website). If you can only afford the one hour tour, then you should do it, but the two hour tour is a much more thorough tour of the houses and their history. All the money made from ticket sales goes directly back into finding their restoration of the compound. Speaking of restoration, they are restoring the gardens back to their original design as designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted. The renovation was said to be finished in about a year and a half (expect complete project to be finished in spring 2020). Again, its worth every penny if youre into architecture, history, or art. My mom and I went at noon, then headed downtown and checked out a vinyl store and a used book store. Make a day of it!
