Really cool tour. They have the actual 66,000 some-odd original pictures there and they keep a vault with all the papers they organized. There are some neat plants and a garden you can walk through.

Many people have jogged through the Emerald Necklace or Central Park (just to name a couple of the hundreds of projects) designed by F. L. Olmstead; fewer might know that Boston is where his latest dwelling is. The house has become a museum and can be visited; a wonderful guided tour will show you all the nooks and crannies of this marvelous home.I suggest asking about the hidden trail in the garden.Enjoy!!

Take a tour of Olmsteds home and design firm! There is a short film to start your visit. I was surprised to learn how many projects the design firm had a hand in developing across the US! The tour and grounds are wonderful!

Museum of Park Architecture and planning. Well run with Park Rangers taking you through the offices / work stages of the park design etc. There were an interactive part for the class that we brought there, but doubt there is much interaction available for regular visitors. Slightly dated.

Studio and home of the man who started landscape architecture in the U.S. wonderful, free tours, and there is undoubtedly some unbelievable techniques they used to run a firm. So cool. Bummer they lost the Olmsted Elm.

One of the highlights of the week. Everything was beautifully preserved. The rangers were super knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend a ranger-led tour. If you have kids (or even if you dont!), ask about the jr ranger program. Parking can be limited, but is free.

One of the best National Parks in the system. The Olmstead house and studio gives the individual a real sense of the importance, forward thinking and implementation of the man and his work.

What an incredible place! While many Americans have never heard of Frederick Law Olmstead, almost every American knows of or has experienced one of the parks he designed. The house/office reflects both his unique style and functionality.I would highly highly recommend a visit if you like parks, landscaping, or cool houses.

This is a lovely trip to take in Brookline. Our guide, Adriana, was so thoughtful and nice... The Frederick Olmsteds House and Office is a incredible place for knowing about the history os the architecture and landscape. It is amazing seeing all the work he and his colleagues did, all documents, photographs and blueprints still meticulously archived and are being digitized by the National Park staff. Its a very good place for visiting!!!!

Tiny for a national park site, but important. Only the grounds were open but that is Frederick Law Olmsteads claim to fame. For any lover of landscape design, this is sacred ground. The small gardens, especially the sunken garden in front, are gems showing maximum use of a small space. The surrounding suburbs are also lovely and add to the trip. Not obvious driving by, so use your gps or map. These are old gardens, so not wheelchair accessible.
