Were two lessons in to the three-lesson introductory course and having a blast. Mick is an excellent teacher and the shop/range is everything you could want it to be. The first 2 lessons have focused on form and technique and Mick has done a great job getting round all of us (16 max - 8 lanes alternating) and giving us personalized pointers and tips after initially giving us general instruction. The equipment we use (recurve bows) is perfectly good for shooters of our standard. The range is broken done into 10 and 20m sections. The beginner lessons use 10m shots, at least for the first 2 weeks. The range is bright and clean and obviously well-maintained. The age-range in the class is quite large and yet Mick still does a great job tailoring how he teaches us. Safety is also emphasized. Highly recommend this place if youre looking for lessons. The shop looks well-stocked and the folk here are obviously very good, very knowledgeable and very friendly. Look forward to getting their recommendations for gear as we continue to learn.

Ive had a bow restrung here and recently purchased a new bow as well. The guys here are super friendly, helpful, and wont try to oversell you. It can get busy on Saturday, especially closer to the season opener, but its well worth the wait. If you are considering getting into archery or bowhunting, make West Town your first stop.

I was having a tuning issue with my bow and was getting some pretty severe torquing, so I had Fred and the West Town crew look at it. They went above and beyond the simple paper tune I signed up for. Fred spent hours working diagnosing the issue and helped determine that the rest had become defective, even going so far as to help me with getting it warranty serviced and get a replacement ordered. He then spent even more time re-adjusting it and fine tuning it, getting the bow to shoot better than it ever has before. When all was said and done hed worked on it for almost a month and what did he charge me for? Just the original paper tune, he said the rest was just him trying to figure out the problem and he didnt want to charge me for anything other than what I signed up for. They gave my bow more care than I ever couldve asked for and went so far above and beyond what I was asking I legitimately felt guilty for them not charging me more. If you want someone to genuinely invest in your bow and care as much about it as you do this is the place.

West Town Archery is the perfect shop no matter your aspirations in the sport. For beginners, the shop has extremely reasonable pricing and immense amounts of invaluable expertise. Not to mention staff who’ll take the time to understand your own goals and help you meet them. West Town has everything to get you started towards and successfully reach your goals in both bow hunting and target archery.Although the environment of the shop is very friendly and speaks to that of a family own business, West Town has the know how and inventory that compete with any of the large scale operations. Truly the best of both worlds!

I have been dealing with this shop for over 25 years and I have to say they are the best. I have purchased many bows over the years only to get superior service. They are very knowledgeable with the products they offer. I also have sent in many people with the same response. Top notch!! Rob and Fred are great and I love that it is a family business. They treat you like one of the family. I just purchased a bow for my daughter and will be coming in soon for a crossbow. Keep up the great work. You have a customer for life!! Thanks

Just called to inquire about archery lessons for my 10-year-old. A guy answered in a very short & unfriendly tone, and when I told him what I was calling about, he didn’t say a word and hung up immediately. Wow.Update: left same review on their FB page. Writes back that only him & his brother were in the shop & neither one of them took my call; “there is some kind of misunderstanding going on here”. Now I’m being passively accused of lying after being hung up on. Class acts!

I went in to check out the archery range as I am here on Vacation from New York and wanted to find a place to shoot my compound I went in and a saw a female employee all the way to the right of the shop she saw me as I had seen her.I looked around for a few minutes and no one bothered to ask if I needed help with anything. As walking I out I notice a gentleman in an office who didn’t bother to acknowledge me either. The shop wasn’t busy at all it was around 11:30-11:40 this morning. Will never waste my time driving there from New Berlin again when in Wisconsin on vacation.

Great staff, very friendly but terrible hours in general, and especially on the weekends. The fact that they EVER close before 8(obviously except sundays and holidays) is extremely inconvenient. 3 stars because I love the place and its my go-to. Minus the two because of lack of accessibility. I should always be able to go to the range after my 9-5 for a reasonable hour of archery. Maybe change your close time to 7. That would be much more reasonable.

I went in to this store and spent close to $2000 on a brand new bow with a complete setup. Rest, sight, arrows, quiver, everything. I’ve bow hunted for close to 20 years and have never owned my own bow. The gentleman who helped me, Nathan, was very nice and informative. I was able to shoot all the bows I wanted and when I finally selected the bow and equipment I wanted that’s when the service stopped. He put my rest, sight, quiver, peep and kisser button on and did nothing else. He sold me arrows not even setup for my rest or my bow (I found this out once I ripped a fletching off and destroyed and arrow). Their website says that when you purchase a new bow they will paper tune it and watch you shoot to help with tuning it to you. This never happened. As a matter of fact, I called the next day and asked if Nathan would paper tune it with me and he actually told me that the manufacture sent “specs” with each bow and he doesn’t need to shoot it to know it’s good because he set it up according to the manufacture. Still can’t group my bow, I come in the third time to ask for a proper tune and I was told no by three different employees because “it’s probably just how I shoot” but no one would help me with that either. Finally after coming back for the 4th time and still not being able to group my bow, Rob the owner, finally gave me some pointers. Which only got me so far. My bow still hasn’t been tuned, I still can’t sight it in properly, the damn kisser button just fell off and I’m done with these guys. Also Nathan told me that once I’ve broken in my bow it will need to be tightened up again because the string will start to stretch and the peep will rotate. When this happened, several hundred shots later, I brought it in and another employee looked at me like I was crazy when I asked to have it tightened up. He told me to loosen my D-loop and slide it over until it pulls my peep into alignment! It’s like they make excuses to not do stuff hoping you won’t know any better. Save yourself the trouble and go to buck rub or pray you get a bow that’s perfect out of the box because these guys will not help you if it isn’t. I have to actually go pay another shop to help me now because the guys I gave $2000 to don’t have time for me. I sure wish I could return everything and start over with a different shop. I’ll never make that mistake again. The 2 stars is for the level of courtesy involved when being told they won’t help me and for nothing else.I really need to add the fact that I’m a bow hunter and it’s the rut. I’ve hunted and have taken a shot at a buck with this bow. I wounded it, tracked it for 8.5 hours drop by drop across 24 acres before I couldn’t go any further. I’m sick about it. This beautiful bow I can finally call my own and I won’t hunt with it because I can’t tell myself I can ethically take an animal. Thanks West Town Archery, I’ve learned my lesson. Nice guys that couldn’t care less about you. Claim to be a top Mathews dealer, go and buy a Mathews flagship bow, don’t have time to set you up properly, hope you can hit a deer this year!***UPDATE AFTER PROPER TUNING***Post cop-out response from West Town ArcheryAfter West Town Archery refused to help me with my bow I took it to Buck Rub Archery in Pewaukee and spoke with Jeff. He went thru my bow and discovered that not only were my cams out of time but the center shot was off and my loop was tied in to close creating nock pinch. He tuned my bow and he had me SHOOT THRU PAPER!!!! After one nock adjustment I was shooting bullet holes at 5 10 and 15 yards. Jeff watched me shoot and gave me pointers to fine tune my anchor point and make consistent shots. My bow was sighted in out to 50 yards in less than an hour. After being tuned my bow is much faster and more quiet. I was even given a card with notes and an outline of my entire setup so if I ever lost my bow I could walk in with this card and walk out with an exact match to my original. That’s a professional shop! Thanks Jeff! Never buy from West Town Archery!!!

I went in a week ago (7/7/13) with my buddy. We wanted to get into archery, but didnt know much about it. The guy who helped us was incredibly helpful and got us the basic equipment needed (without spending an arm and a leg on a new hobby!). I was very happy with the service, the staff, and the purchase.I went shooting three times, and on the third time, my bow snapped in half (its a wooden recurve bow). I took it back a week later (7/14), told them what happened, and they immediately replaced the broken piece. INCREDIBLE customer service. Assuming this hobby of mine sticks, Im definitely going to upgrade in a year or so to a compound bow, and I know where Im buying it.

Im giving them ZERO stars. My experience with this store started positively and ended very poorly. I selected this store because I wanted to give a smaller place my business instead of always going to one of the big box stores. I thought they would give me better advice and be a place I could go to for years to come. Unfortunately it was a big mistake buying a product from this store. One of the owners Rob helped me go through all my bow options when I first went to the store. I felt very comfortable with the store and they seemed like a professional place... so I paid for and they ordered my TenPoint Turbo GT bow. The bow came in a week later and Robs brother, another owner Fred had me come in and go over the bow with him. I looked over the bow and noticed a sizable section of the top part of the butt stock on the bow had the camo worn off. I pointed this out to Fred and he acted like it was no big deal and I should just accept the bow the way it is. I feel if Im paying nearly $1,000 for a bow it should be in nearly mint, if not mint condition. I felt very uncomfortable dealing with Fred and he was very condescending to me. I got the impression since I look younger he decided hed treat me like some kid that didnt know anything. Im over 30 years old and no where near a kid. Rob called TenPoint the next day and got me another bow and when it came in it was back to dealing with the co-owner Fred. The bow that came in also had the camo worn off on the bows bottom stock support. Instead of sending another bow back, I asked if the store could do some sort of discount. Fred refused to do any sort of discount. I then asked for a refund of my money. They do ZERO refunds and are not willing to work with you. Ive never been to a store that has policies that rigid. After going back and forth with Fred to look for some solution to his rigid policy... he then suggests that he will give me TenPoint lighted nocks and install them. I became so frustrated with the whole situation, I said sure at the time. I came back to get my bow later that night after it was assembled and Fred never installed the new nocks. He told me he got so busy with other customers and that he wants me to learn to install them now. Then he tells me that the original nock on the bow will need to be pulled out with a pliers and will get destroyed during the process, which I felt was going to be trouble, but I was just ready to leave the place at this point. I got home and then started to read up on the lighted nocks on online posts and reviews. They are extremely hard to install... some arrows have broken during the process, lights fall out. They are just a disaster. I realized now why Fred was so quick to pawn these bad lighted nocks off on me. I returned to the store today and asked Fred if there was anything else available that I could get in place of the nocks since they sound like trouble. He said sure go pick something off the bow accessory wall. I selected a set of broadheads. He then told me Im going to have to pay the difference in the price between the nocks and the broadheads. It was 10 dollars. I told him Im not paying anymore. I already spent nearly $1,000 dollars at this store between my bow and the case I bought. He then flips out on me, starts screaming and yelling like a little kid and causing a big scene in the store. He then starts talking down to me and treating me like Im some child. Ive never been treated like this at any place of business. Fred then continues yelling and demands that I leave the store immediately and kicks me out! Fred needs some serious anger management help and I strongly recommend you not shop at this store. They may seem great at first, but just wait until something is wrong with your equipment you buy... they will not be professional or willing to work with you. I will NEVER, EVER come back and do business at this store ever again...
