My daughter had a great birthday party at the Barnes Memorial Nature Center! The staff was very knowledgeable and helped to keep the attention of the children with all of the interesting reptiles, amphibians, and birds.

Unique little learning center, animal sanctuary and bird lookout. Animals include owls, lizards, amphibians, reptiles, and insects. Much learning info and activities. Trails in back are dog on leash friendly and will lead you to sessions woods in Burlington. Should you need a long days activity with the kids. 13 year old Luke is an excellent volunteer greeter/host, very knowledgeable and well spoken. An asset to the center. Yearly family memberships are more than reasonable.

Very small inside but the trails are so nice. At the end of one trail there was a worker who let the kids scoop the bottom of the pond. They learned about many creatures. They even got to touch a snake.

This small museum has a few interesting exhibits, but some were messy or broken. The bird observation is cool and the trails are nice. Unless youre there for a program, dont expect to spend more than 30 minutes. It used to before, but now is $5 for adults and $3 for children. There are a few small animal exhibits, frogs and the like, and taxidermy pieces. Best to go in spring or summer when you can walk the trails, or attend an event.

Very brief 2.5 mile run with my daughter this afternoon. Great trails that were well maintained, they even allowed a bathroom break without charging admission. Barnes nature center is a great learning center and gives kids hands on experience with nature. I believe there are summer activities signups in the spring and beginning of summer.
