I love this place! I wish it would re open!I Seen an Elvis impersonator here. We also got to take a tour of the 140 year old mansion! I am an amateur ghost hunter so if course I loved it!I loved hearing about the history of the house and family who lived their also. It was awesome. Its a great place for school field trips and families. They have an old gas station and cars and much more must see things! If you can afford to please donate to them even if its only a few dollars. I know they could use it and they love managing this place. The older couple who run this place work only from donations. They do an excellent job. You can see that they love this place and would do anything to keep it open. Tours used to be only $3. Great place.

All kinds of interesting vintage things to look at. 9 buildings! Staff were so friendly, helpful and informative. Lots of interesting events aside from just having the museum. Call for tour times. This is a must- see!

The actual museum is very small but when combined with the out buildings it makes for a nice display of history. On problem is you can only see the inside of the out buildings by taking a tour that is only offered a few times during open hours. The tour guide was very informative.

I love seeing all the history of the area and the vintage buildings; especially the 1887 home where I celebrated my first birthday.

The Adams County History Museum is a great way to learn about the early history of Adams County. Historians will love the detailed displays of what life was like back in the early 1900s up to present day. Kids will love the interactive displays of the geological history of the area and the dark room that shows the florescent colors that certain rocks display when a black light is presented. The general museum is free with a more detailed guided tour offered for a modest price. Located next to the Adams county fair grounds makes it a convenient and easy place to find and enjoy. Check their website for museum times and tour prices.

This place is an unexpected gem. Its like a little, historic town with an old service/fuel station, blacksmith shop, one-room schoolhouse, and fire station, as well as an 1800s house. Authentic items everywhere. Its like stepping back in time. What an amazing spot!

Far better than expected, but the tours were closed so I didnt get to see the insides of the buildings nor the train which is really what I wanted to do. They have a larger than expected fossil and mineral exhibit as well as some well maintained antiques in the museum. When I went they were doing a book sale fundraiser so the museum was also full of books and movies for sale. Be sure to leave a donation of you visit.

The lady behind the front desk discriminates against people with disabilities. She made my group that I had feel so unwelcome that we thought it was best to leave. This person could have been much more accommodating, or nicer in general.

The Adams County Historical Museum has a wonderful museum building, historic home built in Henderson in 1887 by Frank Cockran, fire station with a 1930 Model A Ford fire engine and related equipment, replicated vintage Continental Oil Company (CONOCO) filling station, historic blacksmith shop, and the beautiful Prairie Rose schoolhouse complete with all the furnishings of the time, Hoffman Hall and the expansive Cultural Center. The museum is 90% handicap accessible. The Henderson Home has stairs to the second floor. This is a museum for young and old alike. I recommend planning 2-4 hours to enjoy this interesting and chock-full of history museum.

I love coming here! There is alot of great historical reading here concerning Adams County, Co. I would personally like to thank everyone who has donated historical items to the museum. It is very cool being able to see all the tools, clothes, books, military atire, 1887 Henderson House, etc. but espically the pictures! The pictures are so cool!! They have pictures here you can not find online. I would definitely like to know more about the 1887 Henderson House. The Adams County Historical Society could use volunteers for upcoming events and maintenance. Please stop on in and say Hi :)
