Awesome outreach events are held here every second Friday of the month. You will see awesome celestial objects and learn about or place in the universe! Come in later fall and winter for the best views of the cosmos (weather permitting).

Always so much fun to visit here. The setting is amazing. Up on a hill overlooking the trees of Western Nashville. Sometimes you can catch the sunset. Then the real views come out. The telescope is fun to see our neighbors in the sky. If you get a chance to go to Bluebird on the Mountain, definitely go. The songwriters are great and being outside is awesome. Stay after for a peek at the stars!

Lovely experience! Everyone should attend their open house if possible. The view from their powerful telescopes is magnificent. Tickets are very inexpensive, just be sure to reserve early. One of Nashville’s best kept secrets.

A gem of a place. The open house days are a great to opportunity to explore the observatory building and its various astronomy and physics related collections in a great observatory building which houses a telescope. There is a tour with friendly well informed eager to share their knowledge astronomers. If that isnt enough there is also an area a short walk through a wooded bluff to the star chamber a unique camera obscura. This is by reservation only so note that it is popular which means advance planning.

Every so often, Vanderbilt University offers nighttime star gazing events at their observatory. I would definitely recommend signing up. It was a great experience and if you get the opportunity to visit on a clear night then you will not be disappointed.

One of the coolest places in Nashville! Ive lived here for 15 years, and never had an opportunity to go until recently. A must see whenever you get a chance!

Great observatory in a beautiful location. Went there on a whim when they opened on a Friday and they are very friendly to the public. They have a front display case and small exhibits, a beautiful library, a back tented area, and a star chamber.A staff member gave us a great tour of the library and talked to use about the telescope. They have many talks open for and geared to the public and seem like they would be a great event space for everything from kids camps to a wedding.

I did not go in, but the next time I am in Nashville I will find an event, either stargazing or sungasy. I would be happy just to see the hardware.

I love going here for the telescope night they have every month. This is a great place to bring kids but also an interesting date night for those into that kind of thing. I learn something new every time and the astronomers and volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Cant wait to visit again!

The Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory is so cool. There is a lot of history on display when you enter. We went to one of their telescope nights, I got to see Saturn. They had different telescopes out pointed at different points in the sky. Due to the light pollution, it is a little harder to see some things. They also had some pretty smart people to explain and talk about what we were looking at. I’d highly recommend a visit.
