Pros: The parking is adequate, trails are mowed or decently kept up with, beautiful scenery with views of small ponds, streams, and the river. Plenty of wildlife around and overall a great place to bring the family.Cons: Around the parking area there is a bit of trash, and the one portable bathroom could be kept up with more. The trail signs could be updated to show a little more information.Overall I give this location a solid four stars. I went on a brisk walk in the area and loved it. With some minor improvements this area could be much better.

Good for a quick stroll in the outdoors. Fairly small scale in terms of overall size, but its fairly maintained and quite lovely. Make sure to bring a good pair of boots for those hiking. I had the area mostly to myself this morning, and was able to walk the majority in about an hours time (barring some time to stop and get some shots with the Nikon). Parking is in a lot by the front, and there is access for vehicles going to the canoe launch. A nice place to forget about things for a bit!

The park has nice ponds but the walking trails needs to be cleaned up a lot theres also no street lights so I would recommend going during the day opposed to the evening. On the second gate going for theres no concise Trail. The first date to your left leads to the back of a swamp and when you passed there its the back of the pond where you can kayak or canoe.

The path needs asphalt. Lots of gravel & unpaved trail. I enjoyed the walk though. Along the walk I saw, dragonflies, butterflies, honeysuckle. It was nice

Peaceful, beautiful, and not too populated! Came on a grey Sunday afternoon with my family and our dog and was one of maybe 3 groups there. Particularly pleased with how clean it was and how well-maintained the pathways were.

No entry fee. Free kayak and canoe launch about a quarter mile from the parking area. Trails go all over. Its swampy so mosquitoes can be abundant.

Came here for fishing. Really nice Natural Area. I visited a big pond on the left but was unable to fush due to all of the lily pads and algae against the bank.

Decent local spot to go wildlife viewing and/or bird watching; Ive gotten a handful of bird pictures there. Always see people fishing there too. There are a few picnic tables around the main lake to eat at. Bring bug spray in the warmer seasons because the bugs are real bad. Without fail regardless of day or time, there is always some sketchy car parked there with someone just sitting/sleeping in it. Creeps me out whenever I go as I am typically alone.

This place was a sweet find after I had gotten lost. I just got to say the park service needs to visit the old canoe boat landing. Its over grown and the creek is not flowing. Some old trees have dammed it up. So if you were going canoeing over in this area you probably get stuck. The area is quite most like it was forgotten. So if you want a quite place to unwind visit this area.

I started visiting Governor Bridge about 6 years ago and heartily recommend it for birders. In my experience its especially good for Spring and Fall Warblers, not so good in the Winter. I live in Annapolis, and its my go-to place for Cuckoos (Both), and Scarlet Tanagers. Fox Sparrows are abundant at times, and the lake hosts Osprey and Wood Ducks. Im also fond of macro photography and Governor Bridge has a good variety of insects and flora.

I had a great opportunity to take my kids hiking at Governor Bridge Natural Area today. We walked for about a mile and a half, mostly around the beautiful 8 acre lake. It helped that it was a gorgeous afternoon. There were geese on the pond, the water was clear and the air was crisp. Ill be out there again soon. I recommend this place to anyone whos in the mood for local nature.

Sadly no fish were caught so thats why its 3 stars. Other than that the park was nice and saw a lot of beaver.

You can hike, fish along the river or at one of the three ponds. The ponds have largemouth bass, sunfish, bluegill, crappie and during the spring and fall the MD DNR stock the pond with trout. There is a landing area to put kayaks/canoes in the river. Visit the website to obtain the combo number so you can drive to the landing area.
