Great experience. We watched a short video on the history and then did a self guided tour. Really amazing history and well preserved home. We learned quite a bit just walking thru the house and reading our tour book. One of the hottest days this summer but the house was quite cool and comfortable. Nice walk....lots of stairs.

This is a fantastic community run museum representing the lives of the Provincial Governor Samuel Ogle and his family and later William Woodward and his family. There are parts of the house representing a span of 250 or so years. Much of the original plantation is now surrouding neighborhood but the main house and some property including a terraced area in the back of the home are still on the property. When we went all the rooms were decorated for Christmas which was quite lovely. Staff was friendly and knowledgable and we had a great time. It is the kind of little museum you could pop in for an hour or less and still see everything, while it still being worthwhile.

Easy access and very enjoyable historical Mansion. There is an elevator for easier access access. The area is gorgeous. Tucked into a neighborhood it’s unpretentious. They have activities for the kids and a very easy to do self guided tour. Everyone enjoyed this. Go to the stables just a few minutes away after for a continued experience in history.

We took pictures for prom night of the Bowie Nrotc on the grounds. Beautiful place to take pictures. We did have some unpleasant people there that felt because they had rented the Mansion we should not have been taking pictures outside. There was no private party sign on the lawn but we had a good time anyway.

Overall a Worthwhile Glimpse of the PastThe tour guide apologized as soon as we walked in because the mansion is currently being painted after repairs have been done from minor earthquake damage two years ago.Other than that, it was interesting to see how the mansion owners lived and get a glimpse of those past lives who called this mansion their home.I would definitely like to go back when the painting is finished to see the house when it is decorated like it normally is. Despite that, the tour video, materials, and guide gave great information!

If I could give No stars I would. If you are considering this as a possible venue for a holiday party or wedding...I hope you heed this warning. The staff there are extremely unprofessional. How so, you ask? They will eat your catered food. They will yell at your caterers. They will also yell at your guests to get out of rooms with their beverages. They will begin stacking chairs and folding down tables when your guests are still lingering and chatting. They will have contractors still working (painting) at the venue 30 minutes prior to guests arriving and tell you to look in your Contract that you signed and ask where it states in there that there be No Contractors prior to your gathering.Until they hire professional, courteous, polite caretakers ... keep looking for a venue!
