Elephant Rock is a giant white rock jutting out of the side of the mountain. A few daring souls climb down a small steep descent to get to the actual rock for even better views than what you get from the recently-dedicated bench. The straight line distance between the parking area outside the park gates and the actual Elephant Rock isn’t very far, but it is considering you zigzag from canyon to canyon to get there. So, don’t underestimate the climb, which is 3.1 miles if I remember correctly. Budget 1.5 hours for the way up as an average climber, about 1 hour down unless you take pictures along the way.The trail itself is well kept except for a rocky area after the first bend. After the recent windstorm, some trees and undergrowth have been knocked over, but the debris was all cleared within a week.I’d give the trail and scenery 5 stars, but no one here except me and a select few wear masks while on the narrow trail.

In May the snow is all gone but the trail can still be muddy or wet depending on your time of day. Most dogs are well behaved and their owners are, too. The occasional biker passes on the left. Gradual uphill. Good time. Go before 6 or 7 am and you can almost have the place to yourself.

Easy hike, climbing up and down the giant elephant rock at the very top was risky but not that bad. Its about a two hour hike round trip if youre fast paced. Free parking is located before the gate, right next to the trail.

This is a great hike. Its also very popular. Expect to see plenty of other hikers and mountain bikers. Youll also see plenty of dogs, most of them are off leash, but friendly. There are also the occasional motorcycle and horse. Thats really the only downside. Its a very popular trail. However, you cant beat the views, and everyone weve ever met on the trail has been courteous. It may be too much for little kids. Our two year old is a trooper, but even in the baby backpack, he got worn out.The pictures are unedited, and were taken from the benches which overlook Elephant Rock and the valley below. The views are incredible. As you can see, we made it before dark and we were not disappointed!

Great easy hike, not difficult at all just very long so prepare to hike for a while if you want to get to the rock itself. The trail itself can get pretty muddy so prepare for that but it goes through the trees the majority of the time and is very pleasant!

My go-to dog hike during all 4 seasons, not much water after you walk over the bridge in the beginning, So make sure your pup has stocked up on H2O, That goes for you too! You only have 1 creek that you pass over during the hike to elephant rock, and it’s a good 5/7th’s up the trail. During winter (FAVORITE) the trail is pretty packed down till about half way. But after a fresh snowfall... it’s magical. (I hear there is a super secret treehouse that A White Labrador enjoys to hangout in) I can neither confirm or deny these accusations. I do HIGHLY recommend hiking this trail during all 4 seasons, you get a feel of the mountain with all the leaves off the tree’s. (And since this hike is located on the Northside of Mulluer Park Canyon, No need to worry about Rattlesnakes. If you happen to see a white Labrador wearing a GoPro, tell Loki “Hello Loki”.

This is a fantastic hike. The trail can be crowded at some times but is fairly wide. The first mile of the trail is pretty steep with switchbacks but becomes easier as you go up.

The white rock that is prominently visible in the mountains East of Bountiful, Utah is a popular hiking destination. The trail, that is a loop between Muller Park and North Canyon is open to foot traffic, mountain biking, horse back riding, and even motorbikes. The white rock, that is sometimes known as Elephant Rock is a dear place to me. One night, the family of Wayne Smith missed him, as he did not return home. the next day, his body was discovered at the base of the white rock. Wayne was free climbing and fell. Please visit this well loved place, share the walk with your family, and enjoy your outing. The view is magnificent. To find the trail, it begins at the bridge at the beginning of Muller Park at the end of 1800 South, Bountiful, Utah.Thank you

Awesome hike love the trail. Would get 5 stars except there is not an easier access to the rock once you are there. Only a few benches to rest and view. They need steps or a rope to help you walk down to the rock ....

A nice hike then once you get to the rock its an awesome experience to sit on the edge of the rock & look down cause its like a straight drop of like 700 ft from the edge of the rock down to the ground its so gorgeous. Its extremely easy to see when hiking to it cause it stands out since its a huge white rock surrounded by nothing but green trees.P.S. If youre into geocaching I believe theres a cache at elephant rock.
