I’m moving from 1 star to 3 stars and maybe more eventually. We have discovered more areas of the lake that are a bit calmer and if we find a nice cove I enjoy camping at the lake. It’s a shorter drive than going to lake Mohave so I’m trying to like it but the water is always so rough that I find it hard to enjoy in our little boat. Maybe if we had a larger boat it would be more fun. I still prefer the water at Lake Mohave but the camping and travel time is better at Lake Mead.

I have to say our favorite place to get away without getting away. So many places to explore this is just a few pictures of our adventures. This summer has been amazing we are sad to see it at its end. You can boat, fish, barbecue, and bring the family closer while doing so!! I highly recommend taking some time to check it out.

Nice lake I used my national park pass to get in so I dont know the price. I went again in the afternoon free like 5pm no one was at the stand. I like this lake you need swimming shoes because the rocks are all over even in the water so swimming shoes and you will have a great swim. Hiking, camping, boating, and picnicking are all available theres bathrooms everywhere. So much to do and see highly recommend.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area is easily one of my favorite places in Nevada. I love coming here. Whenever I need an escape from the lights and the craziness of Las Vegas, I visit Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Theres so much to do here. Its hard to be bored while visiting. This is a great place to bring the family and explore the outdoors. Its simply just an amazing place to be and visit. Youll come back here a few times a year.

The rangers here are very friendly. They have the passport stamps inside behind their desk at the visitor center so they’ll stamp everything for you and they have the stamps for Tule Springs and others around the area as well that they’ll stamp for you. Super helpful since I didn’t have to drive to the other sites because I was afraid they were closed. The visitor center also has beautiful views of Lake Mead.

Great place to cool down when it gets too hot in Vegas. Water temp is very comfortable, maybe a little too warm on really hot days, hard to really cool off. Actually really surprising how warm the lake is considering how cold the water is in the Colorado River below the Hoover dam. One thing to note though is that the beach is REALLY rocky. Bring your water shoes or sandals.

The Rec Area is located at the bottom end of the Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon West and The Joshua Tree Forest share the area and compliment each other in beauty. At night there are restrictions for lighting, and at midnight, area lighting is extinguished allowing only the moon and stars to shine, amazing views in astronomy.

I have been going to lake mead since I was in diapers. Growing up it has always been a place of getaway from the city life. It is a huge park with endless exploration. Be safe, be smart, and always check the weather before leaving the house and assume its worse than the forecast says. There are many trails around to hike but be sure to bring water and pick a mild day. If you are boating watch the wind and look out for sandbars, the lake level fluctuates over time and small islands can be just under the surface. There are also lots of fish to catch and can be done from the shore. Worth the visit and many more.

Unless youre on the Lake, not much to see or do here on the Nevada side. Maybe it would be cool to hike in the cooler months but all I was hoping was the car wouldnt break down since it is almost completely desolate on the road

I’ve never been to a national or state park where they don’t offer a day pass. If you are traveling out of state and only want to visit the lake for one day, expect to pay $25.00 for an entrance feee (which lasts 7 days). They should offer a $5.00 or even $10.00 one day pass. I wasted $25 for half a day.

Its great out here! So much to see and do. We did the railroad trail hike. It was nice and flat, great for kids. We saw people pushing strollers and wheelchairs as well. With our 5 year old, the first mile was pretty boring, but after that you start to find the tunnels and more variety in the landscape. Overall loved it, just be prepared to entertain your kid in the beginning.

They really deserve 0 stars. Theyre communication is terrible. They cancel my reservation less than 12 hour our my tour and stated I have to inquire about my refund since I went through a third party. (Coupons). They told me they could reschedule me for a shorter tour but would not refund me the difference. Terrible I would not recommend anyone going there. The part that got me was I had my reservation for over a wk and when I asked y were they canceling me they said because their boss told me to. I asked to speak with that person and they said no.

This was at the rest stop past the casino you have to go back through Boulder to get to here but its totally worth it its a nice information center with very clean nice restrooms and they actually have a very expensive water filtration system that pumps out ice cold perfectly filtered water I imagine people come here to fill up their gallon containers I would if I lived nearby its at the perfect stop to overlook the lake and a great stop to gain information if youre passing through. Also to refill the water and use the restroom. Definitely would recommend stopping by and worth taking the back route to get to it.

This was the first time I had the opportunity to go to lake Mead National recreation area. I do want to thank Kealoha for picking me up and bringing me on this outing. Im glad he had the appropriate life preservers and we could kayak out there so we have the right equipment and we brought our own water to stay hydrated. Their outdoor restrooms were adequate for being National Park bathrooms. Of course, it helps I had reasonably low expectation of them being super clean. We got there right before the sun was going down so we also got to see some of the full Moon. I took a bunch of pictures being very careful not to drop my phone in the lake thank you thank you thank you God and the universe. Here are the highlights in pictures.

Absolutely beautiful. This was the last thing I was expecting to find on a trip to Vegas and it was exactly what I needed. We stopped at Sunset Overlook and spent over an hour exploring the lake and it’s surroundings. Getting from the parking lot to the lake (depending on how far out you go) is quite an experience and there’s a fair bit of climbing involved. Boulder Beach is nice as well and it’s much easier to access the lake because you can park very close to it. Also the Hoover Dam is really close so overall it was a great way to spend the morning.

Goldstrike Canyon in Nevada... is a challenge for someone like me. Hiked but one must rock scramble and rope down to reach Colorado River.Rock scrambling, which was new to me, is using all fours to maneuver through rocks, boulders along the trail. Roping is scaling down rocks or boulders. (Remember you must climb up on the return trip.) There are seven ropes.Read once back home, fatalities occur here at canyon. It is the reason this place is not advertised much.We loved hiking through the canyon. Its nothing we ever experienced. Hiking in, canyon walls seem to close in and swallow you up. Unbelievable unique rock formations at every turn!We made it to rope #2, then turned back. Glad we went as far as we did! Once at the car, within five minutes it began to rain.
