My friend took me here for a going away dinner and we had the best time. They really made the outdoor seating area vibsey and welcoming. Our server, Greg, knew both the wine and food menu very well and was able to answer all of our questions. He definitely contributed to our overall experience with his prompt service and friendly/personable demeanor. We ordered the whipped ricotta as an app and it was addictive! I had the roasted lemon herb free range chicken and it was so tender and delicious. I typically dont finish whole meals but my plate was clean by the end of dinner. They brought out a cheesecake with fresh fruit and a candle for the surprise and it was great. Definitely recommend this spot

Fantastic service and food!!! I have been having a bunch of food allergy issues lately I havent been able to quite figure out so have basically been avoiding restaurants which is a total bummer because not much else to do during covid. The beehive went above and beyond to accommodate all my allergies and recreate a meal for me without any fuss. I was truly taken back. I called in advanced to see what they could do and they quickly offered up solutions without fuss or making me feel weird. Thank you for a much needed night out!

Salmon was delicious!!! I would definitely get this again next time if I come back to the Beehive Restaurant. The cheeseburger and swordfish also looked very good. My friends got those and also enjoyed them. There was plenty of outdoor seating, but make sure to get a reservation ahead of time!

Every time Ive been here its been a memorable experience. Sitting inside Beehive is like teleporting back to 1920s and Im wearing a flapper dress and smoking long cigarettes. The service, food, drinks, ambiance, every aspect of the experience makes you go, wow. Thats what a solid restaurant is supposed to do. There are a lot of options in Boston, but Beehive is the right choice, every time. My date and I ordered the brisket, and hummus platter, but this is one of those restaurant that you trust will bring you something amazing regardless of what you order.

Had the BEST service here tonight. Jenna (hostess) was friendly, personable, and went above and beyond for us. Our server (I forget his name) was also great and even the manager checked in on us. The food was great but what made it amazing was how wonderful all the staff were. Will be coming back again very soon!

Nice setting. Was seated downstairs. Waitress immediately asked us for our drinks. Ordered some coffee. Was horrible, most watered down beverage, 7-eleven probably could make a better cup. Had to ask for utensils. After that service declined to the point we had to find someone to place our order after 20 minutes. Food came out very quickly. Was decent, wouldnt go out of my way to come back. We did not have salt pepper, or even the chance to ask for it. After food came we lost the waitress completely having to seek her out for the check. Service was horrible, food was decent. Would not recommend for brunch.

I’m actually still at the restaurant writing this, that’s how good this place was. I had to wait quite some time (but it was a Saturday night — and worth it). I’m a party of 1 since I’m only visiting Boston, and normally people barely pay attention to people who are sitting alone. My server was SO SWEET, and two managers came up to me separately asking how my meal was. Which, by the way, the meal was phenomenal. I will 100% come back here when I visit Boston again.

What a find! My daughter and I were in town for the weekend and looking for something different for dinner. The Beehive is much larger than I initially thought. Has a bar upstairs and down. There is an area for live entertainment downstairs as well. There was a jazz trio playing during our visits. Service was good. Food tasted excellent. We shared the Wedge Salad and had a Bacon Cheeseburger and Swordfish with polenta for entrees. The burger was served with had cut “chips”. They were thicker than chips, but not quite fries. Result = delicious perfection Great place for a date, dinner or just drinks.

Delicious brunch options, decent cocktails, kind of pricey but I thought it was comparable to other restaurants in the area. Atmosphere was nice and outdoor seating has heaters to help you maintain covid distancing in comfort.

Very underwhelming. The reviews were decent so I thought I’d try it out. Paid “market value” (aka $44 when the check came) for a steak frites that was tough and flavorless. Cocktails were watered down. Ambience was so-so. Wait staff checked on us once through our whole meal. Would probably have enjoyed the evening still if it wasn’t incredibly over-priced.

Good place to go as they take reservation on open table. The place reminds me of an underground jazz bar. Went for early dinner and the band was setting up for an 8 o clock play time. We ordered the steamed mussel and ribs appetizers and both are winners. We also ordered the salmon, steak frite, chicken and the short rib. Would forgo the short rib for other main but the salmon and steal (esp the fries) are delicious. The entire meal cost about $200 with tip and tax so not the cheapest meal youll find in Boston.

The place has very nice ambiance with live music. It could get quite loud if you sit very close to the stage.Food quality is average at best. My poach egg was disappointingly over cooked. Not sure how you could mess a poached egg that is hard with no longer runny yolk.The polenta and the tomato sauce is good.

Spent our last night in Boston here and had a most wonderful dinner with live jazz. It is a soulful space that inspires and excites people who visit! Do not miss out on dessert, we had an excellent chocolate mousse with fruit and nuts

The Beehive is exceptional, cant recommend enough. I love the service, variety of seating and ambience, and menu selection. The live jazz is terrific and not too loud. I brought my partner and his friend their birthday brunch and the staff was very generous and accommodating. I cant wait to go back!

The food was delicious! We shared two dishes, the mussels and the eggplant, excellent. I had a glass of red Italian wine...cant remember the name but it was very good. I thought the prices were reasonable and the servers were there when we needed them without being intrusive. Had a great time!

This place has always been the brunch spot for me when I want to stay in Boston. Theres always some cool Jazz trio playing and the food is on point. Dont shy away from the Mimosas. Also it helps a lot if you make a reservation in advance. Its a long wait for a walk in.

My boyfriend and I spent a Sunday evening at the Beehive Restaurant recently. We were told ahead of time to make an 8pm reservation in order to get a good table near the stage. We got there around 6:30 for drinks and oysters prior to dinner and let the hostess know that we were there. We were disappointed that by the time they sat us at 8pm we were sat at a table where there was zero visibility to the stage. Other than that, we enjoyed our time while at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly. We enjoyed the food as well. The oysters were Savage Blondes from PEI. We also had a burger and brussel sprouts which were very good.

Beehive is a place Id known of for years but had just never made it to. I can say with certainty, Id like to make this one of my Boston staples! The cozy atmosphere, warm lights, and live music make for a great date spot or even a place to catch up with friends or to bring guests. The food is great and the options are great for vegetarians and there are gluten free plates as well. Drinks too were fantastic and well crafted. Though, our servers attentiveness and suggestions helped make our experience even more amazing. This is a place to book in advance but it is well worth the wait.

If heaven came in a plate, it would be the grilled swordfish at the Beehive! That was ridiculously good, it is just indescribable. The combination of flavors and ingredients was to die for, they danced and swirled in my mouth creating a this beautiful art piece of taste buds bliss.The server was really awesome, and gave great recommendations. Went to the beehive for a friends birthday.Ambience - jazzy and rustic. The music can be a touch loud for table convo but great for dates or a group hangout. The table was tight for our group of 5 but we got used to it fast.Food - Delicious, we ordered a lot it I personally had the Oysters, duck meatballs, the short rib main course and the peach cheesecake. All well prepared. I drank the bigwig which was tasty.Service - spot on, well dressed and eloquent.

Even with COVID-19 restricting many restaurants across Boston, Beehive continues to deliver amazing service with a 1st class menu and drink selection. No other restaurant can give you a smooth and welcoming atmosphere while keeping you upbeat!

I like their live music and dining atmosphere. Their brunch menu has interesting/unique selections. So if you are expecting waffles, eggs and bacon, this is not the place. Their steak was good, spinach and cheese dip was amazing, chocolate dessert (sorry can’t remember the name of it) with cream on top was tasteless. Their brunch was delicious each time I tried. I liked the service also. Besides, they have a lot to choose from when it comes to wine. I recommend this place. PS. They don’t usually seat you if your full party is not there.

Went for Valentines day, and it was beyond perfect. Every single bit from checking in, our table, the food/drinks, and entertainment were perfect. The only thing better was the staff. Amazingly well done, and thank you for helping me create the perfect Valentines day experience!

Great live music spot! Ambiance energetic, friendly and fun! We visited downstairs and the host was super kind. We got a front row table at the stage and the food was delicious! Some of the best braised oxtail gnocchi I have ever had! Can’t wait to visit again! Reminded me of my days in New Orleans.

It was the best service we had in Boston our whole week end, and we ate out a lot.Foodwise I totally recommend the calamary. A tasty delight. We also had the avocado and fennel salad, the duck au poivre and the seared scallop. Everything was just delicious.I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good wine and tasty food.

Fast service, nice ambiance great service

The food was surprisingly good (not inexpensive though) and the band was fantastic (The Big Takeover Band). You can see the band from most of the tables. The audience spans a wide range in age, less so other dimensions/demographics. Service was very good. A nice place to listen to music.

This has to be the hottest spot in South-End. Beautiful patio, lovely decor, live jazz, cozy atmosphere, and a trendy crowd. Add to all that an exquisite menu and youre getting a complete package. Every item of my 3 course meal was made with crafty and tasteful hands!

Came here for dinner with my husband during our trip to Boston. The food here was excellent. Everything was well crafted and delicious. The building is very old and had a great history. We were also treated to some live entertainment. We also had great service. Definitely recommend this.

Had a really, really disappointing brunch. Service was terrible. Drinks were overpriced and weak. Food was bland and unappetizing. It has a nice location but everything else falls short. Had the same experience in at their other location in Harvard Square. There are far better places, so avoid.

Well it was brothers birthday. I loved the food especially the Egg Shakshuka, it was perfectly cooked with the spice and flavours. We celebrated with Mimosa and Ham Benedict which added cheery on the top. We ended our brunch with a chocolate mouse cake which was very yummy and chocolaty...The service and ambience was also commendable.Would love to visit again.

Ambient, service and life music are great there. Beef steak slices was good, but three kind of deserts not worth to order probably. Maybe bread pudding was OK, but chocolate tort and cheesecake were a big mistake.

I really loved this place. It has a cool, unique ambiance. I love that you can come and listen to music while you dine. The menu was unique and full of different flavors. I got the salmon which was slightly undercooked so I ate around it. Other than that, we had an amazing meal for my boyfriends birthday.

Let me start with this... The ENTERTAINMENT WAS EXCELLENT, as was the ATMOSPHERE! I went to listen to Naya Rockers, great band, great covers. The entertainment is FIVE STARS, the food is 2.5. If Im going to pay $19 for a burger, I want, no NEED to know what is in it. Ground beef doesnt cut it for $19. I want to know what cuts of meat are in it. It was completely lackluster. I couldve gotten a better burger from Shake Shack. But I would return for music and drinks, and their fries/chips.

The worst dining service Ive ever experienced. I booked a table for 10 for Beehives NYE three course meal which started at 9:00PM. When making the reservations, I talked to a gentleman named Paul who promised that we would be seated on the ground floor where the entertainment is located. When we arrived to Beehive, we were placed on the balcony level all the way in the back where none of us could even enjoy the entertainment. The waiter ordered our drinks and took him 20 minutes to return. Didnt even check in with us to let us know the order would be delayed. It wasnt until 9:45PM when our first course showed up. We were served the second course at 11:45PM. Two hours and 45 minutes after we sat down at our table... We didnt even stay for dessert cause the service was so terrible. When the check arrived, the amount was incorrect. It took the wait staff PLUS the manager to correctly bill us. Numerous attempts. About another 10-15 minutes to correctly bill us and at this point it was about 12:30AM. What an embarrassment.

The Beehive is a music venue, but the food is much, much better than is typical of that type of place. Be forewarned, however, that if you are seated in the area where the band is, you won’t be able to converse. We were lucky enough to be seated in the next room and lucky enough to have Sara as our waitress. She definitely added to our enjoyment of the evening. We shared the calamari, which was well crusted and not rubbery. The burger was wonderful but overshadowed by the fantastic fries. The same wide-peeled-shaped potatoes were used in the Poutine, which was too light on the gravy.The combination of lettuce, green beans, and avocado in the Beehive salad was interesting, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The grilled cheese sandwich, heavy with short ribs and a blend of cheddar and Fontina cheeses, was delicious and too big to finish. The next time we are in the area for the theater, well definitely make another reservation.

The restaurant was decorated with holiday decorations and we were greeted with smiles from the staff. The friendly lady at the host stand led us to our table and shortly after we were greeted by our server, Stephanie. She was very attentive, informative, and had an overall great attitude.

A couple of waiters seemed nervous interacting with guest, and others ignored guest while waiting on others more often.I recommend having a reservation for this place because the staff seemed annoyed that we didn’t make a reservation ahead of time even though there was plenty of seating both inside and on the patio.I highly recommend this place for young and older couples for a date night or a good time with adult friends. Not the place to bring kids because it’s upscale, but laid back. Definitely the Shabby Chic.

I can not rave about how amazing this place is. From the atmosphere to the service we had a great time. The music was great. Our bartender Jay really knew his stuff and wowed us with his craft.(and we are bartenders ourselves) this will always be a must stop in Boston for us.

My friends and I really enjoyed our time here! We would have loved to sit somewhere and just order drinks, but there wasnt enough space. The drinks were strong but decent. The music was fabulous, though!

We got brunch here on a Saturday, reservations were easy to make and they had our table ready on time. All the food and drinks we had were quite good, and came out very quickly. Particularly the Queen Bee and the Poutine were excellent. Also the live jazz music created a great ambiance.My only issue came at the end of the meal (and is the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars), when our server seemed offended at our 25% tip. We did spend two hours here, but as a party of 3 we spent over $200, so its not like we were sitting around drinking water and eating bread, and the tip was generous.All in all the service was fine (except that last thing), the food was great, and the ambiance was excellent. Would recommend.
