This museum is really one of the best in Boston. Youll get to see an amazing collection of art from all over the world. You could spend hours and hours in this museum. There is a very pretty and bright atrium that is perfect to stop for lunch or coffee while exploring. All in all, my experience was great here, especially if youre interested to history.

I havent been to the Museum of Fine Arts since I was a kid (which was a long time ago) and I enjoyed it thoroughly! They have renovated and expanded the museum quite a bit since I was there and I was impressed. The art is so beautiful and I love how they separate the art by American, European, Ancient art etc. They even have a nice little restaurant that offers salads, sandwiches, steaks and adult beverages in what used to be the outdoor courtyard prior to the renovation. The food was good but a bit pricey. They also have a full service restaurant as well. There was only one part of the museum I didnt really care for which was the contemporary art section. I dont want to be insulting but I truly thought the contemporary art was not very good. I suppose art is subjective, so to each their own. I would like to have given the MFA a 4.9 out of 5 but Trip Advisor doesnt allow it. Definitely worth the trip.

I don’t usually visit museums, but the wife and I decided to give the MFA a shot on a recent trip and loved it. From the architecture of the building to the amazing sculptures and paintings from various cultures and times, we were quite entertained. It was too bad the Mummies exhibit was under renovation, but it gives us a reason to go back. The only thing that struck me was the lack of Central and South American art.

We went during Covid and felt extremely safe. The timed entry and precautions they took were well planned out. They have not just paintings but life size statues, furniture, model ships, music instruments and many more too much to list. Great place to go if looking forward something to do on a cold winter day or a rainy day. Most people tend to spend 3-4 hours here and since there is a lot its a place you can go on multiple days and still not see everything including the temporary exhibits. . They have both a cafe and a restaurant that you can eat at as well.

The Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1870 and was initially located on the top floor of the Boston Athenaeum and most of its initial collection came from the Athenæums Art Gallery. Francis Davis Millet, a local artist, was instrumental in starting the Art School affiliated with the museum, and in appointing Emil Otto Grundmann as its first director. In 1876, the museum moved to a highly ornamented brick Gothic Revival building designed by John Hubbard Sturgis and Charles Brigham, noted for its massed architectural terracotta. It was located in Copley Square at Dartmouth and St. James Streets.[3] It was built almost entirely of brick and terracotta, which was imported from England, with some stone about its base. After the MFA moved out in 1907, this original building was demolished, and the Copley Plaza Hotel (now the Fairmont Copley Plaza) replaced it in 1912.Wikipedia

This museum is incredible. The price may be a bit much at first, but once you step inside, youll see that it is more than worth it. There is food inside that is actually pretty decent, and there are a lot of fascinating exhibits that will keep you busy. In order to see 99 percent of the exhibits and such youll need to be here for around 5 hours. This place is ginormous. And that is an understatement. One of my favorite places in Boston to visit by far. Definitely should be on your Must Visit list if youre staying in Boston. They have an outdoor area with chairs and other sculptures where people can relax. There is some good people watching if you visit during their more busy weekdays. Its a very historical place and there are art period/curator quizzes in one part of the museum plus 3 floors full of art and sculptures. They have African, Asian, Native American, European, American, Indian, and contemporary art Im probably missing a few countries they have so much diversity. Its usually never packed so you get plenty of elbow room. Also the gift shop is nice to visit because of all the books and other trinkets. Only real downside is the 25$ entry fee but they have events where its free admission. Im currently a student at massart so I get unlimited free access and thats why I go so often. They also host movie nights and parties and though I dont have the money for tickets all those people look like theyre having a lot of fun. Its easy to spend many hours here just basking in the glory of all the classic art pieces there I personally find it relaxing.

One of my absolute favorite places to go on the weekends whenever I hear a new exhibit is popping up. They have a wide variety of art ranging from classical to early american to royal jewelry and historical handcrafted instruments.Another really cool offering at MFA is that they offer art classes. These included basic fashion illustration to watercolors and painting. Definitely take advantage of those as you get a solid amount of classes for the price. On top of that, buying the class includes admission to the all of the galleries in the museum so after class, you can really take advantage of that perk by sticking around and visiting an exhibit before leaving.Theres also night events with drinks if youre 21+ and those have pretty amazing works being displayed and showcased as well. Probably even better than whats regularly showcased in the museum because its limited to a certain schedule.

Went to a recent exhibit called ancient Nubia now. This is one of the most interesting exhibits I have seen at a museum ever, and probably the most individually interesting museum exhibit I have ever seen at the MFA. It feels like there must’ve been an incident, and I know there was but I don’t know if it directly led to this exhibit. Either way, the interesting and nuanced discussions of how our biases and prejudices regarding race affect how we interpret ancient artifacts and evidence was fascinating and very well done. There was another special exhibit upstairs about women artists that was not as fascinating but also very good. The women artists exhibition lacked the contextualization and the expert videos that the Nubia exhibit had.
