Beautiful hidden gem! We had been out of town & wanted a pit stop. Seen the sign from the highway & got online to get a day pass. Only had a couple hours but easily one of the prettiest State Parks we have been to. Rv camping sites right on the water, large pier, volleyball court, nice restrooms. Its a very small body of water but would love to go back with our kayaks.

Very beautiful park. Camping, hiking, swingset and sand volleyball court, fishing and if you dont have the equipment they will rent it to you. We walked Trail around the park it was just over 1.5 miles. They have other trails, that I will explore. Most things closed like camping due to pandemic. They have a swimming area, not big, but dueable

Went here for day use on a Sunday. Several relatively short (cedar shaving) hiking trails are available. Had a very pleasant walk with lots of shade. There is a small swimming beach near the office on the lake. Saw no power craft, just stand up paddle boarders and swimmers. Highly recommend using the State Park reservation system. Park was full upon arrival.

My boyfriend and I shared our first kiss out on the hiking trails here. We got lost and were trying to find our way back to our camping group. I wouldnt mind getting lost in a beautiful place like Bonham again. The lake there was beautiful. This will forever be a very special place for the both of us.

Was very pleasantly surprised by this park! The day use area is really nice. We loved that the covered tables were right next to the water and that the water was shallow pretty far out, letting the 3 year old really get to move around in the water. And the bathrooms are clean and nice!

Great 2 nights tent camping. Site 20 offers the most seclusion and very active wildlife. It seems many of the prior visitors have done a fair amount of feeding the animals as the resident raccoons (3) had no problem walking into our campsite while we were still up and about. We did have a bag of popcorn on the table but managed to rescue it before they dragged it into the woods. The shade provided by the forest made for enjoyable temperatures and a break from the sun. If you are planning to run an extension cord to your tent, you will need more than 25ft, that just makes it to the tent.

Nice lake and beach. Great place, but open only from 8 am to 5 pm. Need to book and pay entrance fee a few days in advance. Cancellation 2 weeks in advance; then you lost your money. be No showers, exist, not but closed. No camping, exists, but closed. Its a crime to be there after 5 pm, as park ranger explained. And they have a gate, and close it from 5pm to 8am. Its for Summer 2020; may be next year it will be better...

Wheel of Bonham State Park!!! Its a small park with just 14 RV sites & half that many tent sites. Swimming, fishing, swings & sand volleyball. Restrooms are close and always clean! Quiet and peaceful place to get away from the city, yet just 40 minutes from McKinney, Lots of trails for hiking, enough to keep you busy all day. We camp and even come out for the day. A great alternative for our kiddos, and something different than the neighborhood playground. Well be back soon!

I started with five stars, The park attendants were wonderful, the park itself was very pretty, the campsites are clean and well thought out with electric and water for 15$a night, they are very close together though.Where the park lost stars was the bathrooms while they were modern and clean, you had to drive to get to them, this was not fun at 3am, if they were a little closer to the campsites it would make a lot of difference. And there was just one more big and rather upsetting issue with the lake for pet owners beware, if you want to take your pet swimming the access area for pet owners on the opposite side of the rope was horrible with about 6 feet of disgusting pond scum, for you and your dogs to wade through, that looks like a snake pit, I honestly feel that this area should be cleaned up, for not just the pet owners but for everyone. Im posting pictures of it to inform other guests. I really wish I could have given this pretty little park a full 5 star rating, but the two issues we had were to big to ignore, I think its a wonderful little family park, but dont take your dogs if you want to swim.

Of all of the parks Ive been to this was the one most willing to work with our group and its unique needs. 100 men and women in the woods holding a full contact sword fighting competition is a thing usually requiring some work to explain and develop an understanding for. It wasnt flawless but this was by far the easiest.PLEASE DONT ABUSE THEIR UNDERSTANDING. WE NEED PLACES LIKE THIS.

Great smaller state park, great for “glamping out”! Water and electricity are included with your stay and pets are welcomed too. $4 per day for people (13+), kids under 12 are free! They have classes on Saturday with the Park Rangers as well as boat rentals (paddle & canoe) and fishing gear. Great hiking trails, campsites right off the lake with a basketball court, beach volleyball court and swings all within a short walk! Our Cub Scout Pack went for our Spring Family campout and we had the chance to retire a few American flags using a special and separate campfire.

We camped out at Bonham State Park this past week. The word that comes to mind is quaint with all the pretty, warm feelings that come along with that word. Small, intimate, peaceful, lovely. Great park! The only issue we had was the spiders! There were spiders everywhere and huge webs in the trees. They can be pretty hard to avoid. A few times, we parked by the restrooms, did our business, and there would be a new web by the time we came out. Beautiful park. Loads of spiders.

It is a nice little park but beware not all of the water runs in winter. We went camping in January and the only spigots we could find that were running were the nonpotable water spigots at the trailer dump station. Also considering it is $4 a person to get in I wish it was a larger State Park. It is basically some campsites around a pond. The bathroom facility is very nice though. It is heated, has running water (water is heated as well) and there are showers.

This is the second time being at the Bonham group camping site. Large enough for 100 people. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for 100 people. More than camp activities we had a lot of group activities. The large dining area large enough for conducting group activities indoor. There is a good green patch at the group camping site for outdoor group activities. Pedel boats and kayaks are available for renting. This time fishing was not as good previous time, where we got a lot of large and medium size fishes.. This time, looks like there was more weeds near to the pier and fishing was not easy.

Visited here last weekend and the way its laid out you end up being pretty much on top of each other. And of course the noise that comes with that completely distracts from your experience, or at least it did mine. We were tent camping but sandwiched between a Boy Scout group and an RV group that had about 8 small children that made constant noise. Keep in mind that we could see neither group from our campsite! But we heard them as if they were right next to us. If we go again, it will be for a day trip only. Some picnicking and hiking without the overnight.
