Interesting place, too bad they couldnt have built the fences sooner. Im sure people did not know what they were driving on. Its a short walk too all 3 areas, well worth it.

Went out to the Intaglios and it was such a beautiful experience. The kids and I enjoyed the short walk to the 3 Intaglios that are fenced in. If you have a drone you should definitely bring it to get some nice shots. Also take the time to enjoy the scenery found some beautiful rocks. This is an off the beaten path site and the turn off can be a little hard to find. Make sure to bring water during warm months. Highly recommend during this pandemic :)

Interesting place to see and makes you wonder why they were put there. It is a drive off of the interstate and there is not much else to look at. If you have an off-road vehicle there are trails that go back into the mountains where you can see other images. Kids enjoyed it but highly recommend going during mild temperatures because you would be absolutely miserable during summer heat.

Very nice, make sure to go when it less than 100 degrees outside. It was breezy and only 90 so it was perfect.

I didnt know there were ancient giant drawings in the U S. They were amazing. At the signs, you need to walk down the path to the fenced images.

The Blythe IntagliosThe Blythe Intaglios or Blythe Geoglyphs are a group of gigantic figures engraved on the ground near Blythe, California in the Colorado Desert. It contain three human figures, two four-legged animals, and a spiral. The largest human figure in the Blythe Intaglio group is 171 feet (52 m) long. The Blythe Geoglyphs or intaglios were created by scraping away layers of darker rocks or pebbles to reveal a stratum of lighter-valued soil. The Blythe Intaglios are the most well-known of the over 200 intaglios in the Colorado Desert. The Colorado Desert contains the only known desert intaglios in North America. While these Intaglios are found through the deserts of southeastern California, human figures are found only near the Colorado River.Other intaglios depict mountain lions, birds, snakes, and unidentified zoomorphic and geometric shapes. No Colorado River Native American group has claimed to have made the intaglios, although some have claimed to use them. Many of the intaglios are believed to date from the prehistoric period, but their age and the identity of their creators are still uncertain. However, Jay von Werlhof and his collaborators obtained 13 AMS radiocarbon dates for the figures, ranging from 900 BCE to 1200 CE.

No one really is ever there so its never crowded. I am not sure why it is never mentioned on shows about ancient indian drawings. Only ever hear about the Nazca lines. These are just as interesting.

Review №21

Amazing experience to see something so physically fragile from so long ago, only feet away. The drive in is fairly rough, got in the first bit and backed up to park near the highway and walk in. The first site is not a bad walk at all from the gate, but definitely drive in to see any of the sites past that. After the first wash it mellows out a lot.The geoglyphs themselves are not as big as youd think, but you can absolutely see the shapes from ground level. Really serene and peaceful place, worth the drive if youre into ancient civilizations.

You have to ask yourself why would they only be visible from the air if ancient native people created them. Ancient Alien theorists say yes they are evidence of alien presence! To the South of here is another series of intaglios that depict our solar system and to the north an arrow pointing to magnetic north!

Very cool glyphs in an amazing location. Theyre fenced off but I managed to get some good shots with a drone. Warning, theyre out of the way and located down a very rough track. Be careful with your car.

The Intaglios are large figures that have been carved in the desert along the Colorado River. They predate the current Native American tribes that live in the area and were discovered by a pilot flying over the area years ago.

Amazing to see. At first it is hard to distinguish what you are looking at, then it appears and it is spectacular! They are figures, essentially cut into the dirt, by Ancient Man.

Ancient sacred Geoglyphs made in the past that were meant to be seen from the sky. I couldnt help but imagine the people making them as i walked amongst them in the very remote terrain. Def something special about this place and why the people that built them.

Amazing what people did back about 500 years ago with nothing but their hands, stones, & wooden stafts. Here in modern times, it takes idiots on ATVs to destroy artifacts. Thank goodness someone by ad the sence to fence off the area to prevent further damage.

I give this 5 stars but only...IF YOU HAVE A DRONE. They are located 15 miles north of Blythe CA and are easy to find. It is pretty country out there and is somewhat desolate. When I went there, there was not a soul around which is great. When I walked up to them, I was very disappointed as you can barely make out the figures from the ground. However, when I launched my drone and got it up in the air, the view was spectacular. I flew around and took a lot of pictures and video. It is the most fun Ive ever had with my drone and is the best place to fly a drone Ive ever seen. If you dont have a drone, these geoglyphs are worth seeing, but not nearly as interesting.

Br
Review №64

This is a magical and sad place at the same time. The geoglyphs are a national archaeological treasure. Sadly, they were badly damaged by off roaders in the 1970s and 80s: fully representative of this nations irreverent attitude toward native people, for whom this site is sacred. So it is also a shameful, black mark on the nations soul, and a monument to our stupidity and anti-intellectualism. Some of the damage has been repaired and fencing protects the geoglyphs. Still worth the trip, and only a very short driveway off of hwy 95 if you happen to be passing by. Groomed driveway for any car.
