The inside & outside of the Nature Center is full of great displays and cool interactive for young & old alike. Along some of the trails there are little learning signs about the different trees. We hiked one trail which was a little rugged for elders and stroller pushing, but it felt truly like a Nature Walk. It is close to the City but you think you are way out in the country side. Rolling grasslands, forests, bogs. Parking was ample. Pretty wide trails for social distancing. Winter time they groom it for winter activities. Great place to get outside with kids.

Lots of flooded out trails, makes backtracking required. About 95% of folks not wearing masks which was frustrating. Lots of walking or biking trail options. Bikes come pretty fast, too many curves and peds to be very comfortable if looking for a fast ride.

What a great place to take your kids to. And even for adults. Walking around the whole park is very good exercise. Plus you get to see turkeys, dear, frogs, bees, fish, eagles. Owls, red tail hawks. And all assortments of hawks. The scenery is just breathtaking. The staff which are the Rangers are friendly knowledgeable and very helpful if needed. You can learn a lot about the nature at the Richardson Nature Center.

This place is great. My 2yo loves it here, especially when they have birds. There are paths to walk outside and so much to explore. On rainy days, inside the center is a great place to go to get out of the house. There are books and games and a puppet theater. You can crawl through a fox den, see snakes/frogs/turtles and see gosh in the pond through the observation window. And its all free!! They have summer camp type things you can sign up for, but Im not sure if they cost money or not.

We just had our daughters 7th birthday party at Richardson, and I cant speak highly enough about it. The rental price gave us a large room and an hour with Heidi, one of their naturalists, and then another hour on our own for presents and treats. Its a pretty great deal, very competitive with other similar birthday party offerings. The room had a sink and good counter space, tables and chairs were all set up, and the white boards were decorated with colorful birthday messages for the birthday girl.Heidi was amazing! She engaged the kids and had them answering questions and totally involved. The kids got to meet a snake and take turns holding it, and then we went pond dipping and talked about the creatures that live in the pond. Heidi was lively and warm, and obviously loved her job and enjoyed being with the kids. After the kids were done with cupcakes and presents, they spent the remainder of the time in the nature center, looking at animals, dressing in costumes, putting on puppet shows, or exploring in general. The staff checked in on us to see if we needed anything, but everything went so smoothly! They werent in a particular hurry to get us out of the room, so we were able to take care of clean up and packing things up without feeling rushed.Overall, it was an amazing experience. I dont know that I can think of anything that could have been improved. We felt very welcomed and well cared for. The nature center is really kid friendly, and I could really see our family coming here more often for lots of other activities as well.

Richardson Nature Center is amazing. The building is beautiful, the staff is kind- but obviously the best part is being outside. I enjoy their trails and the nature playground. Great place for families! Took our 7 month old. She loved the live snakes and turtles, and the interactive wall art. The trails were beautiful and well-maintained. Not too hilly, even for our not-so-in-shape family :) We cant wait to go back and do more exploring. Perhaps my husband and I will go back and try some snowshoeing this winter (we noticed you could checkout/rent? snowshoes in the center). We will definitely be bringing our daughter back for activities next summer!

Gorgeous trails with beautiful views and sights of the ski jump in the distance on some of them. Most of thr trails are bark chip, so not accessible to less rugged strollers. They have an area with sticks and logs for the kids to build forts and the indoor area has tanks with small reptiles, a small nature play area, a raptor area and an indoor viewing area where they have birdfeeder and beehives set up outside. One of the coolest things in that area was a glass beehive with a tunnel to the outside so you could see the bees at work on the honeycomb through the glass!
