The comedy attic was the first comedy club Ive ever been to, and I was pleasantly surprised! The open mic night was a great time. I didnt have any food from there, but their strawberry margaritas are delicious! They do have a two purchase minimum for food/drink on top of the $5 dollar cover charge, but I didnt have an issue with that as I was planning on buying more than one drink anyway.I was also really happy with how their COVID restrictions were placed, I felt very safe.Im already planning on returning in future for a fun night out.

Thank god this place reopened it is the best thing about this already wonderful town. Big names come through all the time, but the local comedy scene is top notch too. Servers remember my drink order each time. Food is decent but that’s not why you come. Best thing on the menu is the grilled cheese with bacon.

Absolutely LOVE this place! I’m so glad that they make the patrons wear masks, because they CARE about their employees and other customers! I hate that some Karen decided her lipstick being seen was more important than wearing a mask to protect public health during a worldwide pandemic, and felt the need to leave a bad review for such an incredible place, but please know that this establishment is wonderful and so are the folks who work there!

We bought tickets to Moshe Kasher and Mike Birbiglia before the pandemic hit. After the lockdown the shows were rescheduled for months later and we had hoped in that time this whole thing would pass. As time went on it became clear that it was not passing and so being two high-risk individuals we sent an e-mail to [email protected] asking if we would be able to receive a refund for our tickets to open the seats for other individuals to fill. After a substantial amount of time passed without a response I resent the e-mail to no avail. Not only do we feel robbed as fans of comedy, I think its a lack of respect for the comedians as well to deny them the opportunity for a full house. It sounds, based on other reviews, like this is a trend for the owner to dodge responsibility when the outcome isnt immediately in their favor. I understand that theyre probably taking a serious hit right now with the pandemic, but so are we and now weve been forced to make a donation to a comedy club that would just as soon see our laughter turned to disappointment.

We recently moved to Indiana from Seattle. We had very poor experiences at the comedy clubs in Washington. Hacky comedians, overpriced drinks, shows started late, etc. Most of all the audiences were out of control.I listen to a ton of podcasts and The Comedy Attic constantly is brought up as an elite comedy venue. The prices for food and drinks is about half what it is at most comedy clubs too.My husband got a new job that sent us closer to his family in central Indiana and all we could talk about was making the 2 hour drive to a Bloomington to see The Comedy Attic for ourselves. This was late February and we saw Matt Braunger. This was (at that point) the best comedy experience I had ever had. Everything is the way comedians want it to be. I was struck by how much the emphasis is on the audience enjoying the show and not catering to the groups who cause problems. The staff is attentive, friendly and just wants the show to run smoothly. We were able to meet Matt and he was great too!We ended up making the four hour round trip drive every weekend until the virus hit. Every show was so fun. Jackie Kashian was the highlight. Just incredible! It was horrible to be without comedy for all those months. We help take care of his mother who is very ill and we take covid very seriously. We watched a few shows online after the club reopened and it was great! Last weekend, we decided to go back in person. We were nervous, but had read all the safeguards the club was utilizing. So we went. All I can say is they are going way above and beyond to keep everyone safe. Tables were distanced, everyone was wearing masks. And everyone was cool about it. They’ve really built a great rapport with the comedians and the audiences. I’m very happy that they are taking this virus seriously. We’re so excited for Nikki Glaser this weekend! Thank you Comedy Attic for doing everything the right way!

Overall its a pretty good place, my only real issues were that it was rather cramped, the drink prices werent listed on the menu, and as far as I could see there were no signs that said two drink (or item) minimum per person. But overall it was pretty nice and Matt Braunger was on point when I saw him there. I will say, if you want the better seats, you should probably get there sooner rather than later.

I understand wanting to maximize revenue but the seating is so tight I have no idea how its not a violation of fire code. You are in there like sardines. The venue was clean and orderly. Servers were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere and surroundings were fine (except for the aforementioned proximity issue). The comics however werent as entertaining. When the opening act gets more laughs than the headliner, that is a bit telling.

Great service, great drinks, okay food, wonderful selection of entertainment, small space. Not handicap friendly, Id say. If tickets are sold out, youll share a table with some people, if youre okay with that. To feed two people 2 drinks and 2 meals cost $36. Suggest, eating before and just getting drinks. Always come early! Fills up fast, but youll have a great time!

Comedy was good, but theres an unadvertised two drink minimum. We were not aware until the show had already started, and were upset to have to pay almost double what we thought. It was also distracting to have to deal with ordering and paying while trying to watch the show. If the management needs extra money, they should charge more for admission instead of making people buy drinks.

Review №41

Love this place! You get the best of both worlds here: small venue, and some great artists who dont tend to do small venues anymore. Practically every big name comedian has performed here, and not the expected before they were famous. You will likely have to share a table with a couple strangers, which I find lovely (usually), but just be aware, if that isnt your cup of tea. The food is decent. Cheese curds and root beer float, yes please. The fried pickles were disappointing the time I had them.

Saw James Acaster here and it was a phenomenal show. Staff was good. Only problem here is the seating. In a sold out show I got to sit literally touching the stage but had to sit uncomfortably close to my table and the stage with another customers seat touching the back of mine. No leg room at all for 2 hours but worth it for the show. Some good acts come through also got to see the Whitest Kids U Know awhile back.Food is good but not great. However very reasonably priced, especially for similar types of venues.

This club is amazing and probably the most underappreciated part of Bloomington. The caliber of comics that you get to see here is absolutely ridiculous. I dont know the owner, but hes clearly the reason this place is successful and will personally reply to emails, sometimes even with a recommendation of a comic you might like (he did to me and Nate Bargatze is now one of my favorite comics). Im amazed at the troll/local guide who left a 3 star review, probably after paying $25 to see a comic who you would normally pay $50 for in most cities and in those places you would have a terrible seat at that price. Honestly, Bloomington should be ashamed of anyone who gives the Comedy Attic less than 5 stars since this is the kind of place most Bloomington-sized towns dont have.

Waiters and waitresses where nice . But you should call before you drive there . We bought advanced tickets expecting to see someone and they weren’t there . The mayor took the persons place and it was a nightmareYes I’m sure he was cussing and said jokes and some thought he was funny we did not and then introduced somebody else who was ok. I can find the mayors name if you want. It’s been a few years ago.

Bloomingtons own Comedy Club! Its a bit crowded in here but as a space open to all ages, this is definitely an option for a wide audience in thr town. Ch
Review №68

Random seating based on arrival, about 1/3 of the room sits off stage right, I ended up on the edge wall. This leaves no view of the screen for the pre-show opening, and its up to the comedian to turn for those seats to see them full-face (which puts their back to two rows on stage left). Tough room to maximize for a stage because the bathrooms are behind a curtain off stage left, but itd be a better experience for people where I was for it to be from that corner. The staff was nice and wed go again, but try to sit straight on.Update: had a great talk with the owner, that column of seats is only used in a sell-out and theyre trying to work with building folks to reorganize to fit them on the opposite wall.

The Comedy Attic is a great place to see some fantastic stand up comedy. The talent they get, and help grow in Bloomington, is always high. The biggest faults are hard to avoid, sometimes. The options available for the 2-item minimum are average at the very best of them. Weve went through the menu multiple times to find something edible and almost all of it isnt that good. They have repeatedly burnt very bland popcorn.Seating wise, there can be problems. Seated by party size is understandable, but it shouldnt be a big problem to mix a few parties at a table. Waiting outside for doors to open for over 30 minutes, and being first in line, just to be seated further back from people who arrived twenty minutes after the doors opened feels a bit ridiculous.Again, the talent and atmosphere is top notch. Its so good that their biggest issues dont detract from the overall feeling, as much as it should. Its the disappointing thing that our group has felt we must except these issues and hope that theyre fixed eventually. We love to go for the talent and the atmosphere, but we always know well have issues with the quality of the 2 items we have to get. Theres, also, a chance we could arrive earlier than everyone else, but still get seats that arent ideal compared to others who show up distinctively later than us.

My food was served semi-cold except the chicken tenders. Those were made fresh but every thing else wasnt hot. Not a wide selection but at least you have something to eat while you drink. Friendly staff. Was pretty impressed by the waitress remembering everyones orders without writing it down. It wasnt a full house but the waitress was alone serving by herself. Comedians were mediocre that night but Ill definitely be back. Good date night spot for after dinner plans somewhere else. Parking can be found behind the building.
