Its the hometown theater I grew up with and still love. #62 was a great movie, and with a small number there, social distancing was no problem.

The lyric theater is one of the great treasures of Blacksburg! I frequently find great movies being performed. The documentary on The Band from the point of view of Robbie Robertson was for me very moving, The Band are the godfathers of what we now call Americana music. Once again I commend The lyric theater for bringing such a movie to the screen!

What a awesome place to hear quality music. Sound was great. Staff was friendly and appreciative. Margo Price rocked the house.

This theater is amazing! They play old movies every once in a while as lat night showings. They have a good movie selection which are often more artsy. They have live bands and other similar performances. They are a smaller theater and feel very down to earth and fun to be around.

Visiting the lyric is an experience of its own. Definitely go on tour if possible and get the insights into its rich history. The place is mostly run by volunteers and volunteering is a easy and rewarding. You get to watch the movie for free. Mondays are free popcorn. Also the lyric s hows almost all the Oscar nominated movies which is a good thing. Worth a visit.

A1, would recommend. Mostly because the only other option is distant and impersonal, whereas this, is not that.

I love the idea of having an indie theatre to attend. The prices were great. I am saddened to say I probably will not go back. The seating is narrow and uncomfortable for both myself (510, curvy hips) and my partner (6 very average build) but for petite people, slim college kids etc, shouldnt be a problem.

Always fun! So glad they support the kids performing.

This is a grand old theater - full of history and great memories! I love the new chairs and balcony.

The Lyric is a classic, ornate theater from the 30s. It has been nicely restored and has an excellent, up to date digital movie and sound system.

Good place, pretty small but effective. Staff seemed nice, and the concessions were also small but adequate. Good for seeing indie movies or local concerts.

The. best. movie theater. Love that they do special events and showings for kids with sensitivity to sound/light every once in a while. They have ticket deals too, dinner and a movie or free popcorn monday.

Going to see a movie or talk at the Lyric is one of my small town favorite to-dos. Sometimes its big names, we just saw Bohemian Rhapsody, or obscure movies that turn out to be awesome, and sometimes not, but definitely still worth a sitting and free popcorn on Mondays!

Best theater in Blacksburg! Its only $5 and on Mondays you get free popcorn. Awesome. It is a theater more than a cinema, and they screen movies on the stage. The screen is not very big and the audio could be better, but the old school atmoshpere and the low prices here are amazing. I love it

The historic Lyric Theatre is like traveling back in time. It was beautifully restored in the 1990s and is now equipped with a more modern digital projector. From concerts, talks, and community events to critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, there is something for everyone at The Lyric.

What a fabulous local, independent theatre to see movies and plays and performances. I definitely recommend taking a tour of the theatre if you have a chance (if they have a tour available during your visit). Cheap tickets too! I will forever be returning here to see movies!

Such a great little theatre! Movies are reasonably priced, bathrooms are always super clean, staff is very friendly. Plus, you cant go wrong with free popcorn Monday! Also, you get to watch free movies if you volunteer.

Just a note to those planning to attend a film at the Lyric: for the best sound sit on the main floor and not in the balcony, the sound up there tends to be slightly muddled due to the acoustic.

I’m from Blacksburg, and the ticket line stretched all the way down College Avenue, and around the corner to Draper Road. 2001 a Space Odyssey, Easy Rider, The Good The Bad and the Ugly, The Godfather, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, The Exorcist, Alices Restaurant, Dirty Dancing - were all here on Opening Week. All the Greats - Eastwood, Redford, Schwarzenegger, Paul Newman - They all graced this Grand Old Theatre.The old fashioned popcorn machine and real butter drifted all around and down the street. It was well worth the price of a ticket just for a seat and some popcorn - no matter the feature. There was a Grand Opera Balcony ...Going to the movies here would change you forever. You never forget the Great Ones.

The acoustics are not great, and the seating is pretty uncomfortable. Free popcorn on Mondays and they do accept Moviepass with no issues. They also have live and local events.

This is a nice theatre with balcony all for the same price $5! Sound is great, the reason for one star off is because of the screen is smaller, if you go up to the balcony, it will be too small to watch a movie.

I think I might be in love with this place. The building is lovely, the numerous volunteers should be heartily thanked. I go for the atmosphere not the movie, although they have good movies playing too.

Great historic venue in the heart of Virginia Techs exciting campus corner area. First-run movies for only $6 ($5 with membership), and special days which include free opocorn on Mondays and a dollar off admission on Tuesdays. (Because it is a popular destination in a busy area, parking is often at a premium, so be prepared to hunt for a parking spot, and you may have to walk a bit, but its worth it!)
