Quiet spot. We like to bring our dogs and let them go off leash. It has two concrete picnic tables with benches under a canopy. There are a couple pieces of playground equipment but nothing big. The gated area has a few goats and a donkey. You can access the water easily but there is no actual beach.

I really enjoyed the lake. I wish I would have caught more fish but I really do believe you need a boat if youre going to be out here fishing. There are a few docks that you could fish off of and I didnt really explore many of the other areas because I had met a few people that I really enjoyed talking to you. I definitely will make it a point to come back out here again and try out some of the areas. It even encourages me to buy a small boat.

Nice recreational area with a scenic trail around the lake. It is right outside Tulsa and it looks like you pulled up to the mountains.

Lake Bixhoma is a hidden gem that is so close (30min) to Tulsa yet feels like you are out in the middle of the Ozarks! Its very peaceful and beautiful. Fun activities are fishing, kayaking, picnicking and paddle boarding. The only facilities is a Port-a-Potty on the north side of the lake near the boat ramp. Theres also a waterfall and 3 hiking trails. (I sketched out a reference map that is attached to this review)-- Bixhoma Falls: (500) This trail starts right where the road crosses the outlet for the lake. A short walk along the creek takes you to a beautiful 40 waterfall that really roars after a good rain.-- Ichabod Crane Trail: (1/2mi) long (Google Maps calls it the Sleepy Hollow Trail) This loop trail is on the NW corner of the lake and was built as a Boy Scout project in 2007 and goes through some old growth Post Oak forest w/ trees 300-400yrs old. It can be hard to follow since it isnt well-used and isnt marked at all past the trail head.-- Bixhoma Lake Trail (~2.5mi): This trail is a little more adventurous as it goes all the way around the lake (walking the 1mi of road back to your car makes it about 3.5mi total). It starts at either road end on the SE side or the West side of the lake. From the SE side you cross the gate and follow the old dirt road for 1/2mi until it becomes just a trail. After that just follow the yellow and orange flags. Wear good hiking shoes as it can be rough. It also includes a creek crossing that can get your feet wet as the water can get high after a good rain. You can get an idea of how high the water will be with how much water is flowing out the lake outlet.

Its a great place to take the family or friends. Its super chill and quite. I do wish that they would put more camping and bathroom areas. There is also a waterfall near the small bridge. Definitely recommend checking this place out for for yourself. ️

It is a beautiful lake. You will need a fishing license from the city as well as the state. If you habe to register your boat with the syate you will also need a city permit as well. The permits are $10 each and can be bought at the gas station down from the lake or at the city of Bixby. Good bass fishing here. They are over pressured though.

Great little lake, water is super clear fishing is supposedly good and the spillway runs down an awesome creek with water falls. There are lots of trails with lots of nature interaction. The falls are steep and not for the unfit. Reasonably clean well kept facilities. There was some graffiti on rocks at the waterfall but it was in an out of the way place and looked to be high-school kids.

Very neat place that’s hidden away in a nice spot. Some people live in the area their whole life & never know it’s there.

This is just a beautiful place to take the family for some fishing or picnic. It is hidden in the hills and has a nearby hiking trail. There is a fishing dock and a picnic area. Really just a peaceful and quiet location! It does require a separate permit to fish here that you can get at the Bixby city office.

We came in from the west to find the sleepy hollow trail. It’s a pretty spot. We found a trailhead marked Ichabod Crane Trail and followed it for a while. It was well-marked but unkempt and rarely used. It meanders around the lake… we ended up just turning back after a while because it wasn’t the pleasant hike we were looking for. Maybe another day if we have the mind to just see how far it goes. Bring water, insect repellent and ankle support and don’t hike alone.

One of my favorite hidden gems. Kind of hate to review this lake because it is so nice and close to Tulsa I dont want it ruined by a bunch of traffic. But the drive is worth it because this lake is beautiful, peaceful escape...good fishing too!

So we were looking for a picturesque place to be on a September morning and decided that we’d try Lake Bixhoma. We’d heard great things and wanted to try it out. Upon arrival we saw the “rules” of the lake. We’d driven 30 minutes to arrive at a sign that said no pets in the lake. Why? Humans do worse things in lake water than my pet will. The lake is pretty but smallish. Off to somewhere else.
