Free and amazing destination to stop by and check out. The first time around you can take picture and really get caught up in how picture perfect this place is. But I highly recommend to just walk around and clear your head. I dont know of many mansions you can just walk around and hang out at. You really feel as if you were transported to a European mansion with so many beautiful views. I thought I would stop by real quick but spent a few hours here.Pro tips. There is a lot of free parking. professional pictures for weddings etc.. are by permit only. They do indeed have police rangers driving and walking around. The mansion is really bigger then it looks and they dont really have any areas off limits.Looking for an open house walk through of the inside? They do offer this once a year. You will definitely see signs and it looks with the $25 charge.

Nice place to chill. When I was there they were filming a movie. Very beautiful view of LA from the hill top, and very tranquil place. Lots of fresh air and and greenery around you. definitely a great place to get away from the busy city. Well maintained and manicured plants. Be sure not to sit anywhere, as you are not supposed to lean on the structures.

Ranger John gave us an awesome private tour of this historic estate as part of our homeschooling history class. Having been there numerous times to simply walk the grounds, I had always longed to see the inside. And it was not disappointing! I wont go into the history of Greystone, which you can easily read about online. Suffice to say it was built by oil tycoon Ed Doheny for his son Ned in 1928. Just four months after moving in Ned was shot dead by his personal secretary for reasons we may never fully know. His widow and five children remained in the mansion until 1955, when she sold it and moved to the house next door which is called The Knoll. The Greystone mansion and grounds ended up in the hands of the City of Beverly Hills and opened as a public park in 1971. The house itself is not generally open to the public except for events and private tours. It has always been rumored of course that the place is haunted - it certainly looks haunted. During our tour we were walking through the servant quarters, and Ranger John had just been talking about the alleged hauntings, saying that he would definitely not want to stay there overnight. He opened a door and showed one of the servant rooms, leaving it open as we moved on. As me and my son lingered behind the door suddenly shut by itself and my son starts whispering excitedly - Did you see that! It shut! The door shut! Indeed, the door was shut. Needless to say we stopped lingering. Greystone is as epic and historic as it gets - a must see for all who love old estates and local history. As for Lucy Dohenys other home nextdoor - The Knoll? That too has an interesting history, involving previous owners Dino de Laurentiis, Marvin Davis, Kenny Rogers and now the Harbor Freight Tool guy, Eric Smidt. The original Knoll is gone, replaced by a massive white home Smidt built in 2005, which you can see across the fence while walking around Greystone.

Wonderful gardens and grounds to walk. I recommend checking to find out when yours of the interior of the mansion are available, and buying tickets online in advance.Otherwise, the house is closed to the public. Many times, portions of the gardens and grounds are also closed to the public for private events, such as weddings, which are popular.Explore as many of the paths and walkways as possible, as there are many hidden sections to the property which you would otherwise miss.

I visited the Greystone mansion on 11/10/19 for a self guide tour. When I arrived the mansion I checked in the volunteer at the door (they had 2 tables on each side) they were checking all the guest in and they had a list I gave her my name glance threw the list and told me your not in the list( when I paid online) I pulled my email and she explained that only showed amount balance. So I spoke to the event Coordinator and explained to me that the list is set that it gets revised by 3 people, and that I will have to pay again and mail in copy of my tickets so they can refund me . I then became frustrated and told the coordinator to check the list again which she did and what a surprise I was on the list . Overall experience of the mansion was beautiful. I just did not like how I was treated my the volunteers at the door made me unwelcome I kinda felt targeted.

The Greystone Mansion was a film set for so many series and movies that you probably watched. Not only that, but it’s well taken care of on every single place of the property. It has a parking lot and you can walk around the property, just not inside the mansion itself because it still works for events or film sets. It is still a breathtaking place to visit.

This landmark is relatively little-known compared to others around LA, making for a serene spot to escape amid the hustle. This is an Incredible place to visit if you like to actually be able to walk around inside and out of a real mansion. Being built in 1928 with its 46,000sqft and 55 rooms sitting on 16-acres in the hills of Beverly Hills. I Love going from time to time and taking friends and guest to see this place that was left as it was when it was built. Its like walking through a time machine back to 1928.

This place looks underwhelming when you walk up to it - two slides that go up maybe 15ft? I was hoping for a slide that took me down to Pier 39! But low and behold, the slides are AWESOME and actually extremely dangerous! For sure wear long sleeves because if you dont, you have the chance of ripping the skin off your elbows. You dont need to bring your own cardboard because theres usually a lot just scattered around.

I didn’t call when I went there but after I posted my photos, I realized that people get married there so I’m not sure if when there are weddings (even on weekdays) they let you in. A serene, chill place. Courtyard is beautiful for a stroll, and the view of LA is awe-inspiring. Its great to absorb the history of the place, to get a feel for how rich folks lived in Beverly Hills back in the day (while peering over next door to see how rich folks live in Beverly Hills now). Youll recognize a few spots from movies, always a dope Los Angeles perk. Only thing is that they dont seem to let just anybody inside the actual mansion itself. If they do tours or something I would jump all over that but regardless it was a great experience just walking around and soaking in the opulence.

Greystone has been on my list of places to visit for the longest time. It took me only a few years to finally make my way here with the encouragement of a friend. It is fairly easy to find and is located in the hills of west hollywood, not far from some great restaurants. We entered through sunset and took the road up to the back parking lot where there was plenty of space to park.Upon exiting our cars, we entered into the garden area and walked around the fountain and through the pebble stone steps to get down to the actual mansion. The mansion was unfortunatley closed off to a private event, so I did not get to see the one view that was a must see view by the pool area with LA as the back drop. But it was still nice to have access to explore this property. My favorite part of the property was the koi/catfish/turtle pond. This was where we spent the longest time. There is only so much you can see here and do. It doesnt take long to walk around the whole property. So I would recommend this place for a picnic day, or a date.

This is a beautiful home, which periodically opens itself up to self guided tours. We liked how they manage it - each room has a person in it who can give you details about the home and that room. I gave it a 4 because most of the rooms are empty, and pretty as they are, you can only see so many empty rooms. One of the docents referred to Greystone as a poor mans Hearst Castle - and thats pretty accurate. The grounds are really cool, and expansive - take time to walk the property. Wear comfy shoes, bring a hat on sunny days, and be prepared to park off site and take a shuttle (all free and with directions and staff to guide you).

Great place to hit if you want peace and quiet. Ive been here a few times and Im in love with the place. If you like quiet, dont come when there is some activity planned. Weekends are best...but some week days also work out. Im told its a meditation park...no sports or other types of activities like that. Also a place where single girls can go and not get bugged by the usual pervs you see in other parks. There are enough little out of the way places to lay out to get some tan line free sun. Dont wear ear buds or headphones...you want to be able to hear if someone is walking up.Once in a while, you may get to go inside the house...just amazing how beautiful it is. And another good thing...it is haunted...but the ghosts are cool. Great place to bring a date, have a chill picnic, hang out, talk, read, study, whatever else you can think of.Went again the other weekend, nice and warm. Went with a g/f and had a little picnic, lay out, catch some sun. Not a prob with perv or people. Just my favorite place in the city. Never crowded or noisy.

Place is very well kept and theres a lot to check out during a self guided tour. This last time we went, they had an event going on, so we could not go inside the mansion. They have very nice restrooms on site. While theres a lot to look at, I still think you could cover it all in 30 to 45 minutes. When you first arrive theres a sign telling you no to 6 different things. The two that I recall are no photography and no picnics. I assume for the photography, you can take photos, but can only use them personally. I took lots of photos.

The property with its scenic overlook of neighboring Los Angeles has meticulously manicured grounds. This is accented by the Koi pond, punctuated by the long list of films and TV shows it boasts as being filmed right where you stand. Whether you are a fan of Gilmore Girls or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, this place may just look a little familiar. With free public restrooms, free parking, and freedom to roam the grounds for free, who wouldnt want to saunter leisurely through the grounds? Do note that pets must be left at home, and there are no professional photo shoots allowed. Also, you may strain to peer through the windows, but the doors and by extension the building remain closed to the public. Get there before they realize the gem that they have and start charging admittance.

Also looking at the donors board (where donors have made donations of $50,000 - $200,000) was kind of nauseating. Wish people would donate their money to caring for our homeless population and healthcare/ research / education instead of old rich peoples empty mansions. Lets at least stop pretending we dont have the money for things that matter and just say wed rather keep multiple acres in Beverly hills and a perfectly functioning mansion empty rather than providing people with basic care! Oh and not to mention the city purchased this with taxpayer money after a developer wanted to tear it down... Who approved that expense? Is that legal? Is this still a review?
