Had a great time, many great acts and fantastic stories. Venue is fairly small but that just helped it feel more homey. I will definitely check out some other shows hosted there.

Lackluster experience.

Sweet, tiny, intimate music space on University Ave, great spectrum of music and Ira really makes it all about the music. BYOB, if thats important to you.

Great venue, run by the ever creative singer songwriter Ira Marlowe. Fabulous acts, playing many nights a week.

Great little music venue

I love this place. I love Ira. I love that I can see real talent that doesnt get the appreciation it should. I love it that I can take my 9-year-old daughter and I love the little fluffy dog. I love the fact that i can bring my favorite bottle of whiskey and drink it. And my friend can bring his favorite beers and snacks. It is small and the sound is remarkably good. Reservations are suggested but you pay at the door. Ira os a genius so pay him extra. He deserves more.

Great venue ! Friendly owner and good acoustics

I met Ira at the door and was welcomed into what Oakland Magazine calls The Best Underground Club in the Bay Area. The monkey house was an erudite, sensitive audience that just pulled the performance right out of me.The diversity and quality of the storytellers and one comedian on her first time up made my experience performing there some place I will come back to for stage time and community of creators.The Lone Comic TM

House Concert style shows. Great humble presentation & ambience. Lots of talent goes through here. Berkeley & the rest of the East Bay should really get to know this place. A real Berkeley gem!
