Way too cold in the theater itself! We told the employees twice but they couldnt have cared less. After all it was nice and toasty in the lobby, where they all were! Also the seats have zero leg room! Im only 511 so I cant imagine how bad it must be for taller people.

A little expensive (but all movies are these days), would be nice if matinees were more discounted or there were a discount night. Other than that: The staff was great (ticket seller reccomended that we go to an earlier showing advising us that the previews were 30 minutes long and the showing was 19% sold out so not only would we make it in time, we would easily find a seat which we did... she should be a data analyst). Great artwork. Video and sound quality likewise were good.

Went last week and the volume was so low you could barely hear the movie. Went last night and they had the volume cranked up to ear-splitting decibels. 30+ minutes after the scheduled showtime they were still playing ads and trailers

The history of this place is about the only thing I can see keeping this place going. By comparison with modern movie theaters this is far behind. Convenience of location is the primary reason to even come here.

Husband and I just had a grand time at the movies! We had not been to the UA Berkeley in ages, because the UA rarely plays the kind of movies I pay to see. But the fact is I am very picky with my movie theaters because I like a quality viewing experience when I go out -and I go out often. Frankly most of the Berkeley/Oakland theaters are miserable dumps, but the UA, to my surprise, offered us tonight a big screen, good sound, clean and comfortable seats and fair leg room (theater #2, people). No heads in front of me to block the view, an attentive audience and a decent projector quality. Yes, it was cold in the theater (I read the reviews before going and I bundled up), but honestly, it was no more freezing than any other theater in the Bay Area! We will happily consider the UA again on our next outing.

The showing I was in did not start, and it took a group of patrons complaining about it for them to fix the issue. Once they did get it fixed the movie ran fine. On the upside (or downside for some people) they did skip all the trailers to make the movie run to about the right end time.

The big rooms are fine, but movies that have been out for a while are shown in the theatre with the awful seat placement. No adult human person has legs thin enough to fit in a 1.5 inch space between the rows of seats. So even if a movies been out for a while, plan to come early to find seats you can sit in.

The sound wasnt well balanced, the space was oddly laid out, and the bathrooms were tucked away and infrequent. Definitely not going back unless I have to. Seats were squished together JUST enough to make it uncomfortable...But the movie did play (after 7 hundred previews) so good job there?

So I havent been to the UA in awhile and I definitely wont be going back. The staff was really nice which is the only reason Im giving the review 2 stars. The facility itself is so run down I can barely believe this is still a functioning theater. The screen was so dusty and there were clear finger streaks through the bottom of screen which were so distracting while watching our movie. The floor was peeling and so sticky that when someone went to use the bathroom it echoed during the show.... Sad since this is a theater I grew up at.

I like this Theater, even though its an old Theater, its usually clean and the workers there keep it presentable at all times, including the restrooms. You can enjoy watching the movies here in the same way as you would at any of the modern Cineplexces or big Cinema Chains ( minus the reclinable more comfortable seats ) other than that, the movies sound and look pretty much the same! In addition, it has some kind of nostalgia to it with the big space outside the showing rooms, the old paintings, the wide staircase and decorations from back in the day, the snacks selection and drinks are good, and the Popcorn is fresh and yummy!

Not impressed with the lay out at all. I am 64 and 65 years old. This was my first experience here. Went with my girlfriend to see Midsommar during matinee time. The showing was in Auditorium 5, the seats in front are situated so close to your knees. Mind you Im 54 135lbs, so if youre a big guy/gal you could have a worse experience than mine. We had a group sit in front of us and the backs of the seats slammed into our knees. Needless the theater wasnt packed so we just went to a row behind us and fixed the issue. Probably wont come back. Midsommar 10/10.

A well-established multiplex conveniently located in downtown Berkeley. Come here for the studio blockbusters. The theaters are a little old, and the quality varies. I prefer the smaller screening rooms with deep seats and more legroom. Its not always easy to figure out where to buy tickets when the box office is empty. I wish the management would put up a sign directing patrons to the snack bar. Otherwise, staffing and service are pretty good.

Mission Impossible: Fallout was good.I cant speak on other screens but for Screen Room #6...New Clean leather seats, but whoever was the Contractor who installed these seats should take a class at Cal Berkeley. The seats are severely too close, as in, if you are taller than 55, your knees will be pressed firmly against the seats in front of you.I am taller than that and my girlfriend and I both had sore knees. This was my favorite theatre, and they deserve a high rating for cleanliness, ease of access and staff, but I wont go back until they announce that they have fixed their Sardine Seating arrangement. (in screen room #6) I hope it is not all of the screen rooms.

What have they done to the seating in the cinema? Im not a tall person 58 but my knees were pinned to the seat in front. Then a woman sat down in that seat and it slammed into my knee trapping my leg between the seats. I had to sit for the whole movie with my legs out in to the isle facing side on to the screen. The guy across the isle was doing the same thing. Literally any time the guy behind me moved I was jolted forward, this was clearly because he was having the same problem. My girlfriend who was sat next to me came out of the movie with knee and back pain. I dont get how you can put seats in that dont fit averaged sized people into them. Im just glad I wasnt sat in the middle of the row otherwise I dont know what I would have done. I will not be coming back to the cinema until they put in better seating. I would not be surprised if this lost them a lot of customers. I was sat in Screen 6. FIX IT!

Fake 3D! Plus, we felt like a sardine. We came to see Advangers last night in 3D and to our surprised we found ourselves blind with or without glasses. Why would you sell fake 3D? There was nobody in that room, possibly bc this theater already got flagged by this scam. We had to move to another room, lucky they had another session starting 15 minutes after ours did. Room six was another surprise. I could barely.... I said barely fit between my seat in the front seat. When the movie started, they left the lights on!? Good gracious. The seats in this theater were the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. Let me explain why: the seats leaned all the way back with almost no pressure, crushing the knees of the person sitting behind you. So you either have to lean forward in your seat the whole movie, or just accept your seat back getting knee-ed back and forth every time the person behind you would unsuccessfully try to reposition their legs in a way that wouldnt lead to their calves falling off due to lack of bloodflow.TLDR: Come to this theater if you want your knees crushed for two hours.
