This is the best art store in the bay hands down! The employees are funky and nice and it’s not super corporate-It seems like they actually enjoy working there. I always find Something i wasnt planning on getting and If i can’t find what I came for they can often help me order it. The layout of the store is fun and there’s a whole back section with craft stuff. Long live artist and craftsman supply!

Another neat local business which cant get any respect in 2020.

Ive acquired many high-quality art supplies from this store! Well-organized, clean, friendly staff, and much better priced than most art stores. It really has essentially everything. Some things Ive gotten: brush markers, watercolors, portable self-wetting watercolor brush, art crayon, spray paint, colored pencils, portable sketchbook!

Great selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and much better than other art supply chains. The real deal.

They have friendly staff and great prices. I especially appreciate the lowest prices on Golden products out of anywhere I can regularly obtain them from.

I really enjoy this place and the location is very nice. I am a professional artist and I need a good selection which have. My one criticism is the prices could be a little lower on some items and they could partner with more specialty brands (like rosemary brushes for example)to compete and differentiate with blick more.

I love this place because all crafts do is help people create,grow,and come together. This place is awesome, they sell my favorite sharpie pins everybodys always stealing,and I bought some glue so I can fix things instead of replacing them. The staff are knowledgeable and very sweet. Very nice&quiet peaceful place.

One of the last remaining gems in Berkeley. I hope they are not put out of business any time soon.

This location is plenty big and has all the regular stuff.They have a wide selection from casual arts and crafts to stellar fine arts supplies in all major mediums.This chain always has good sales and will give you a student discount with a smile. The people working at this location while I was here were very nice!

I was delighted to find an artist and craftsman store In Berkeley. Compared to blick there just seems to be more variety and selection, prices are more realistic and reasonable, checkout is usually quick and easy and staff is usually more friendly. 3 out of 4 staff that I interacted with were very helpful, one staff gave me incorrect info about a product. Cool store, like I said great selection for pros, hobbyists and for kids. This store like the one in Brooklyn, ny is painted very funky to look like an art studio. Would suggest over blick and would return during future visits to the area.

Love this place, the staff is v knowledgeable and sometimes have open products on the back if you want to test something. Bought fabric paint, screen printing ink, watercolors, brushes, stamps and even socks.

Artist & Craftsman Supply is a well stocked independent store and carries items that others may not. Higgins ink markers and brushes as an example.

So many items to choose from! A massive selection of paints and paint supplies, woodworking tools, and pens. They even had modeling clay and castable silicone!

Great independant art supply store...near my office too, so I can just run over and pick up colored pencils and trace...super fine point pens...they always have exactly what I need.

Love this place and love the variety. Only critique is theyll be out of things and not get them back in for ages which is discouraging.That said, staff is nice and I can get inspired to try new materials here.

Amazing craft store that was much bigger and better stocked than I expected. They carry a wide variety of supplies covering pretty much anything you could need, whether youre a kid, hobbyist, or serious artist.Definitely worth checking out, even if just to walk around looking at the cool art supplies (as I usually end up doing when Im in the area).

Wow what a great place for Artist of all kinds. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

They’ve got a lot of different ‘intro’ kits to projects and crafts. That said, if you’re already heavily involved in woodworking, pottery, sculpting etc there are cheaper places that cater to your specific hobby.

Great location, not too far from the South Berkeley Bart Station. Great for artists both professional or just beginning. The atmosphere is very relaxed and homey. Its easy to spend an hour or more here on the first visit, the selection is great. And the staff are really polite and helpful.

Ive been a patron of Artist and Craftsman for years, and its my favorite art supply store of all time! Their selection of materials, along with the range of quality and price points is impressive. Not only that, but their prices beat just about every other art store Ive had to find things from when away from A&C. The staff is really nice, very helpful, and will help you make an informed purchase when branching into unfamiliar art supply territory. They even do weekly draw and paint nights with customers. These guys are the best!!!

They might not have the biggest selection for my hobbying needs, but it’s the customer service that keeps me coming back. Friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to take a minute to explain the difference between various products to a layman like me. I’m especially grateful to the young man in the beanie for helping me figure out which kind of glue I needed for my latest project. 5 stars!

Good place with good prices. Unfortunately the avenue is packed of people that need help in any way (Homeless). Make America grate again. Im afraid the only thing that will be grate and better is Twitter.Anyway, grate place to buy materials for Artists.

Spent at least an hour with Andrew, with my daughter and I getting supplies, incredibly patient and helpful. The best customer support we have ever received. Managed to get everything on a very long list at great prices. Thank you so much Andrew.

I dropped by recently and loved their rather uncluttered selection of art shtuff, but even more- loved the prices. They were having a sale at the time of, so there was a good helping of lovely markdown tags throughout the store... which really helps when the cost of materials can add up so fast! They stock all your standards- from canvas and acrylics to pen and paper. Didnt see anything special when I dropped by, but feel free to try your luck at scrounging!

I just came out of this store. The bored looking young man behind the counter couldnt be bothered to stop looking his phone long enough to walk to me where the glassine is located. Instead he just gave me directions and left me to go find it myself. When I came back to buy the sheets of glassine he couldnt be bothered to count them. Instead he just asked me how many...I could have said any number and possibly walked out with whatever amount I wanted. Then he didnt even bother to wrap them, I had to ask for paper. Then I watched him struggle to even do that well. I ended up wrapping them myself! Dont come here! They have a great selection of items, but you may wanna look elsewhere if you expect customer service. Its so disappointing. The city store is so friendly and helpful. I gave two stars for their selection. Thats it.

Great little store! Check out the manager specials-- I found a pad of pen paper I normally wouldnt have sought out but it is one of my favorites!

Needed some spray Chalk. Looked around, everywhere. Nobody had it. Shopped online, shipping too expensive. Called this place. They had it, in tons of colors! They were friendly and competent. Not a pretty retail presentation, shelves are crammed with cool stuff. Highly recommended.

In to general arts & crafts? Want something different than Michaels?Here is the place to go. Parking out front is limited but there is parking out back. Do not forget to check out the back past the canvas rolls. Youll miss the stamps, bed supplies and the bathroom.General art paints have a good selection up front. On the right side is drafting and pastels. On the left is oils, gauche and water colors.Back right is the textile and wood burning section.
