It was a nice sight however more then a few lights were burned out. I didnt expect it to be where it was. However the picture come out great. There should be a time limit on standing in the middle so everyone can get a great shot. I would return tho.

Nice historical plaque outside and grounds look like they have been preserved. Theres even a birdhouse that matches the house. I appreciate that the old gardens were preserved. Good for a quick stop during a visit to the adorable downtown in Benecia. Cool coffee shop across the street, and Diannas down the street has amazing italian cookies.

Great place to visit for local history! Friendly staff can help with any questions you have and also entertained my grandfather and I with tales of interesting characters. We left with good history book and documentary recommendations. I got to turn the original key in the original lock on the front door! A must visit in Benecia.

A great place for a walk. Pop in and say hi to the docents. Make a donation if you have a couple dollars to spare. This historic place is worth preserving. Such a treat to take the tour. Rich history, and wild stories are shared by the informative guides.

Wonderful little piece of preserved California history. Restored building, original and recreated furniture in the Senate and Assembly chambers, good educational video shows the background history of the building, movement of the state capital and reasoning behind the movement. Only state house building still left besides state house in Sacramento. Located in historic downtown Benicia, worth the trip and 30 minute open tour.

Walking the grounds here is a special treat. The garden beds and old trees are so charming. The wisteria is breathtakingly beautiful when its in bloom. Take the tour sometime, its really good. The docents are really knowledgeable about the history of this place. Even if you dont take the tour, pop in and say hi. Maybe donate a couple bucks to them for the heck of it. Support this local treasure. ️

My wife and I walked Benicia one day. I asked her have you ever seen the old Capitol? No , so we mosey on over. I looked in my pocket had 2 dollars only. The Doscent says were only open for 15 more minutesHe says the $2. Was enough for us both. 2.50 each is the actual cost. This young man gave us the $100 dollar tourIt is a great piece of our history and the employees are awesome!

This was a great little historical stop. Very small place, so it can be done in a short amount of time. We also got a special tour of the house next-door and that was really interesting and the person that lead to tour was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Historic Benicia was awesome. Came originally for the car show for the high school and stayed to explore. The museum was educational and reminded me that at one time, Benicia was the capital of California at one point. The docents were extremely nice and made the visit pleasant.Highlight of the visit was walking the small garden. Though its in the middle of old Benicia, its still quiet and calming.I plan to my kids with me on the next visit. They would enjoy it.

A well preserved state Capitol building located in Benicia, is a very neat place to visit. You can go inside and see things left the way they are in the mid 1800s when Benicia was the 3rd state capitol before it moved to Sacramento.
