Pretty cool museum of the railroad with the busy switch yard right on the other side of the fence. Great place to stop and enjoy the view.

I loved learning about the history of the Harvey house. Its beautiful decorated old fashioned from the times it was once being used as a restaurant with Harvery women and workers by the railroad. Now during the holidays its beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and lights like no other place on New Mexico. Its fun for adults and children to see!

Wonderful museum! It was fascinating to see the history of these railroad reststops and the lovely restoration of the rooms. I also was impressed by the different china from several different stops and the small walk-around tour was very explanatory. Great way to spend an hour or so. Would love to visit the other ones now that I know about them.

I visited at Christmas time in 2017. Absolutely beautiful and worth going to with many people. So lovely and just wonderful thoughts of the way things use to be. Only regret is that my parents would of really loved it. But they have passed away. But this was their era and they would have so enjoyed it.Thank you to the entire staff for doing such a lovely job of making Christmas even more beautiful and it was a lifetime memory that Ill never forget!!

This is such an awesome little museum. It shows how the rooms were from back in the day and had some older objects and things that were used in the past. I recommend anyone who hasnt been here to stop by just to learn and explore how is was in the past. Also when I was younger they had a big train show, some days they had a quilt show and different things on display. I would give a call before going and ask what is on display that day.

Great collection of original clothing, furniture, and items like a vintage time clock really made this fascinating. A nice look back at the history of Harvey Houses and the Harvey Girls who worked and lived there. Tours are offered but you can choose a self-paced option if you prefer.

Old bottling company,a couple times a year the open it up. They have old memorabilia on the walls and all over, basically a blast from the past, one year they had some old trainsets set up which was cool, but the coolest is all the old bottles from way back when they actually used the place for a bottling plant. They usually open in the spring and fall for a weekend.

Such a grand place to explore! The volunteers are so knowledgeable about the Harvey House and all other Fred Harvey Establishments. The old House is kept in amazing shape and it is always clean. The exhibits are expansive beyond just the Harvey House, but to what the world outside the House was like during that thriving era. There is always has something interesting to look at and buy! I always find a great book there. Even though it is a small museum I give it 5 stars because it is free (but please make a donation), it is unique, and the volunteers are amazing.

Enjoyable museum very organized & informative. Donation at the door, quiet tucked away across from Petes restaurant and backs up to the railroad yard. Great for all ages. Wheelchair accessible first floor - upstairs requires climbing stairs - both floors offer history of the era. Curator friendly & welcoming. Gift shop moderate prices worth shopping fun classy items. Highly recommend!

A wonderfully curated museum in the original Harvey House restaurant building. Both the building and collection are magnificent. Fred Harvey was an early feminist and had ideas that were way ahead of his time. Don’t miss this gem in Belen!

Going to the Harvey House was amazing. Myself and my grandchildren went to see the Bug Lights, which was fabulous all on its own. We toured the entire museum excitedly finding treasures among the Christmas lights. The gift shop was loaded with treasures galore. Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause were there to give magical coloring books and crayons to all the children. We had free hot chocolate and after making a small donation, we had enough left to buy two cookies each to eat. We laughed and giggled as we took pictures. This is a memory all three of us will remember. We look forward to next year.

I had never heard of a Fred Harvey House before Albuquerque residents took us there to see the Bugg Christmas Light display. There was not much museum-type stuff to see, but the place was charming, hosted by local, gracious volunteers. (Museum artifacts were probably moved to showcase the numerous lighted Christmas trees.) A very pleasant Sunday evening late in November!

I had recently began a series of book written by Tracie Peterson that incorporates the Harvey House history. After doing some research I found there arent many places left that show the history today. This museum however was perfect from the displays, guided tour, free admission, crowdless atmosphere, and gift shop--even for my dad and his wheelchair. Thank you so much for keeping up this historical gem!!

It shared a little bit of history about the town of Belen and a great place to kill some time. The ladies were nice and accepted a gift of metal art which made me excited at the idea my children may get to see it some day. I had a great tote and look forward to stopping back by in the future. An awesome part of American railroad history!

A must do stop while in Belen NM. Especially if you enjoy our history. The Harvey Houses were a staple of our past. Seeing the actual china, table settings, kitchen and quarters for the girls so cool. We (NM) had 18 Harvey Houses. Sadly many are gone. But there are still some here. In Las Vegas, NM they are renovating one, La Casteneda. Plus the Montezuma is still in regal form, part of a private college campus. The holidays bring beautiful decorations and many decorated Christmas trees. I cant wait to see!!
