Nice establishment with a wonderful collection of pictures, displays, and various other historical items that surround the history of Lawrence County. The employees are very nice and offer assistance with several genealogical resources for those researching their family history. They also offer various programs throughout the year that offer a wealth of information. Needless to say. this place is doing a wonderful job, and I have a feeling it’s only going to get better.

Great group of people who volunteer their time to make it easier on those of us interested in the great and fascinating history of Lawrence County. Also very active and involved in the community. Not only are they reporting the past but they are impacting the future.

A excellent small museum with a diverse collection of historical artifacts ranging from natural to native American to WWII to sports and all with local significance. A lot of local flavor here.

It was definitely a pleasure to spend two days at the Lawrence County Museum of History & Edward L. Hutton Research Library in the historic part of Bedford. The limestone building has a wonderfully curated museum that spans about 170 years in the county on the first floor - its definitely not to be missed! The bulk of my time was spent in the Research Library on the 2nd floor where I received assistance from Joyce Shepherd, Librarian in my quest for genealogical information. Ms. Shepherd was very helpful and allowed me to look through a number of holdings in the Library. My first day was spent verifying my sources with correct citations and reading through files identifying what I wanted to copy. The 2nd day was spent copying the material. I am giving myself two years to line up my genealogical ducks and submit what I hope will be a scholarly (yet friendly) presentation to share with the Lawrence County Genealogical Society.I wish I had more time to explore all the other holdings in the Library but my time was limited this visit. I cant wait to return!
