John was great to work with. You can tell he loves what he does. He took great care of our group. We really enjoyed being part of the process. We had 4 couples with us and we all loved it. A must do if you are going to be anywhere near here. John was assisted by another young man, Josh who also made this a most enjoyable experience. Thanks to both of them.

Wow ! What a once in a lifetime experience it was learning to blow glass and make your own ornament. John was AMAZING! his passion for glass blowing his apparent from the moment you meet him, this is what hes meant to do and his love for his craft is seen in every piece he creates. There were 8 of us in our group and he took the time with each and every one of us to explain in detail his art. Hes a fantastic teacher and was such an incredibly cool and down to earth person, we all enjoyed him personally as well as the experience. His apprentice Josh was also wonderful, he took the time to explain some processes and the science behind the art to us when we were waiting for others to finish, he will be an amazing artist one day, this is truly his calling.Thank you John and Josh for such a once in a lifetime experience and memories that we will all carry with us forever, we all have a beautiful work of art to forever remember you and this incredible experience.I cannot recommend this more highly.

It is a lovely place! They have great art work that you can purchase. Along with other amazing items like preservatives, quilts, clothing, accessories and books. They also have a cafeteria in there with the best foods. Virginias finest dishes! You can even see how they make some of the art work. I actually got to watch someone work with glass and make a masterpiece, it was colorful, just beautiful! Whenever Im near there I like to stop in and see whats new!

Displays of works and crafts from nearly 2,000 West Virginia artisans. Make sure to schedule enough time to linger and appreciate. I could spend hours, plus lots of money, here. If I were a tourism marketing consultant, I would bring other tourism marketing professionals here on a fam tour to show them whats possible.

Tamarack is a great place to stay on your overnight stop through. It opens its parking lot in the back for all RV travelers to stay in the evening to early morning. They do not allow big rig trucks or your RV to setup, but they do allow you to stay for free over night in a safe spot. Since they offer this, go in and check out their great breakfast and interesting art and shopping.

What a wonderful place to stop and shop. So many great gift ideas from quilts to musical instruments to dinner place settings. Their food court is well stocked and the food looked good. I had already had lunch so it was just a birthday gift and cup of tea, which was delicious and reasonably priced. My wife and I will be back through there in the Fall and will spend more time.

You know those sci-fi scenes where a character starts walking one direction and after a while they end up right back where they started like some kind of weird alien pocket dimension where time and space are different? I had a similar experience at Tamarack.I walked in the building and kept walking and after about 10 or 15 minutes I realized I was right back where I started. I thought I was going insane. Turns out the building is round. I felt like a total goober. The walking sticks they sell are dope as hell.

Nice place to visit and support local artists and info about different areas of West Virginia and cultures of the different regions. Nice book selections and jellies jams and so much more to look at. I enjoyed the wooden kitchen utensils, they are hand made. Of course I purchased a few of these items. Restrooms very clean, plenty of parking and a friendly staff to assist you. I would recommend if you have time, just to stop and look around. They also have a restaurant to, along with hand dip ice cream.

Tamarack is THE best roadside stop if you are driving through WV. You get to learn about what makes this state unique and it highlights what it means to be from WV in the past and present. I love the mix of artisan goods, traditional crafts, and modern art. It is a MUST STOP on your road trip. Pick up a book written by a West Virginian author or homemade pottery with a recipe card included to get a feel for what this state is all about!

Bought a bottle of mountain dragon Mazery tulip poplar honey Mead. The bottle says it’s dark and sweet with a reddish tinge. This stuff is yellow and sour and tastes of nothing. This has and always will be a stop on my trip from St. Louis to Virginia every time. This gathering of locally sourced artisan made goods is astounding. From soaps to moonshine jellies, they have so many wonderful things. Workshops for the artists on site, and a cafe with vegetarian options that were nice for me. All in all, its too much to sum up in one little summary. Its full of so much culture and it comes along right when you need a break from the driving.

Facility was clean and staff friendly. However, the sandwiches for sale were stale and definitely overpriced. The self check out was unnecessarily slow, taking up to 30 seconds to scan each item and the food way overpriced for the quality offered. This is a great place to stop on your way through West Virginia. You can watch local artists at work and purchase their handiwork. The building is easy to navigate since it is one big circle. Although I don’t mind paying a premium price to support local artists, the prices here are significantly higher than what we pay at other places for the same craftsmanship.

Tamarack is the most unique crafts center and the only one of its kind in all the lower 48 States specifically focused on WV. As a former Over-The- Road truck driver, I always looked forward to stopping at Tamarack when traveling along I-77 through Beckley. All the items featured are the best of West Virginia, especially the food prepared and served by the staff from the Greenbrier. If you dont take the time to stop, youve really missed a special jewel. After being absent from the road for 16 years, I brought my wife to Tamarack to see for herself. We stayed over just to go back the next day. Now that were back at home in Florida shes already asking to go back!

Maybe the best place to get recommendations for things to do in WV. Try your best to find Logan and get his tips, they are golden!! He is straight up gonna tell you where the locals like to go, not tourist traps or chains. If you like coffee hes got a great following too, in fact a spot in Morgantown I told them I knew Logan and then they said the cup was on the house, I of course did not accept but it was great coffee nonetheless.

Tamarack is a welcome culinary option in the middle of West Virginia. The meals are tasty, you can get meals that are fairly healthy (a MUCH better option than the fast food joints that populate the interstate exits and rest areas), and the service provided by the staff is wonderful. We always make it a point to stop as we travel to and from Columbus, Ohio to visit family, as its almost exactly the midpoint from our home in Richmond, VA. Take some time to walk around and look at the various items offered by local vendors before or after your meal. Theres a lot of interesting things to see.

Just A Great Place that Showcases West Virginias Artists and their creative soul...everything from BBQ Sauce, to soaps and lotions, glassworks and potteries to wood works. There is a restaurant. There is history. Just a nice place to stop, stretch your legs, and relax, along the way. Some of the artists have begun to overprice themselves, not being as unique or original as you might think...I set a few pieces down for that reason. One example was a water pitcher...over a hundred dollars...well thats no fun. It does not encourage people to bring it into their family and use it and something that gathers dust is not fun either. But some artists are reasonable and their work quality. I couldnt bring myself to spend 40 dollars for a coffee mug. But spent over 200 in my Blenko one of a kind( the sales woman said) ( she better not lie) ( will change my review)vase which will catch the morning light beautifully. Anyhow. I love this place and if you shop, there is something for everyone, whether indulgent or practical...
