I give it a 4 star review because it looks pretty

We were so excited to go to this, but the organization (or lack there of) is saddening. We wandered around after parking trying to figure out where to go to tour the grounds. There was a gift shop but the lady behind the counter was assisting someone. There werent maps anywhere or even placards giving the history of the buildings. We finally ended up looking info off Wikipedia so that we might find out what the buildings were. Other than the one worker in the gift shop we didnt see anyone else to help us.

Wonderful new national park highlighting a principal era in American history.

For a National Park it was not up to par compared to others. Its not very well organized and not too much to see. The main building that is in the park was not open when we went. Its combined with another attraction. The stamp for the national park book is in the office building where you can get tickets for the movie and museum thats not technically associated with the National Park. If youre in the area it maybe worth going but not if youre from out of town. They did have a farmers market going on when we went on Saturday.

Wasnt sure how to rate this. The historic significance of this place as the first school for African Americans is awesome. The center tries to remain relevant by having a modern civil rights agenda. I was more interested in the history and that story.

This park tells a great story! Be sure to visit the signing place of the emancipation proclamation!

Got there at night so didnt see much
