Visited their shop yesterday, Oct 24, 2020, after being treated like a human over the phone. Other local shops seem to be staffed with people who have no business serving the public. At Freedom, the staff was great and took the time to patiently answer all my questions. Every single person I spoke with was helpful and accommodating and it was very much appreciated. Ill happily make the 30 min drive to Freedom from now on instead of the 5 min drive to the firearms store in my own town.

I went to this store to buy my first gun. I wanted a hand gun. The clerk was trying to convince me I wanted a rifle. He explained that his mother thought she wanted a hand gun but what she really wanted was a rifle. I said no, please, I want a hand gun. He wanted to show me the three reasons why I really wanted a rifle. I finally said that He was not listening to me and I was not comfortable buying any gun from him. Would not listen, talked down to me. I left.

Okay but way cheaper at On Target in Kalamazoo, they seem to put people down if they ask questions. Im a former infantry paratrooper and know a lot about AR platforms but still had an associates eyes roll over asking about what uppers were compatible with my lower. I also dont like politics in gun stores and its there obviously so I refuse to shop anywhere that makes their views known.

Great place and range, the staff is awesome and always helpful. Recommended to everyone whos looking for a range to practice.

Was in there recently to pick up an ordered item. The guys were awesome to work with and took care of me as soon as the person before me was handled. Jason answered questions and gave me some helpful tips. Good shop - will be back!

I typically do not leave negative reviews but it would be hard not to after my experience today. I spoke with someone on the phone and placed a 100 down payment on a gun I was reassured over and over was in stock. After the 2.5 hour drive and arrival to the store I was disappointed to see the exact model of the gun I specified I did not want yes a mini Draco vs micro Draco is not a large difference but when someone is willing to drive hours and spend over a thousand dollars in the store please make sure you’re aware of what you’re selling.

I havent been to their range or purchased any gunsmith services, this is only a review of visiting the store and purchasing a firearm.I bought my first gun here in January, this year. I had never shot a gun or so much as held one, and I cant say I really fit in with the crowd here, but I felt welcomed! I chatted with the employee about video games, its the little things that make you feel more like you fit in.I first visited the store and browsed the selection, and found one of their cheapest guns that I had been eyeing on the website, a Rock Island Armory M5 12 guage pump. The employee didnt know much about it, but I held it and came back the next week to purchase it. Very smooth transaction, quick background check, within 30-45 minutes I was walking out with a shotgun. All they had were rifled slugs, and the employee was confused as to whether they would work in a smooth bore or not, so I got the impression these guys mostly just care about rifles and handguns. Overall it was a great place and introduction to guns, but I wish they carried more ammo for shotguns, even if they cannot be used on their range, and some research into even the lower tier models would be helpful for entry buyers. Was impressed with service when I went in to pick a conceal carry that was right for me. I felt I was being assisted by a coach/teacher rather then a sales person. Spent well over an hour until I narrowed it down to 2. Prices allowed me to purchase both. I definatly recommend to any women that may feel uncomfortable/treated differently at other stores(which I almost always experience even if just buying ammo). I wont go any where else for my firearm or ammo needs.

We were new to shooting. The staff was extremely helpful and sure we had no problems. If youre new and always wanted to try it, go for it! The excellent staff will take care of you.

The CPL class I took was well given and did not wonder into entertainment. The instructors were professional and personable and took serious information and made it easy to understand. Id highly recommend taking a class here if a Michigan CPL is what you are after.

Staff are knowledgeable on their products and the store has a pretty solid selection.Highly recommend taking your concealed carry course here. Class was very informative and well prepared.

Excellent service and products

Every time I have been there the guy have been helpful and knowledgeable. For someone inexperienced with hand guns, they are definitely the best to help. They are focused on your comfort not the sales price.

These guys are great! Been there several times and they are always willing to answer any questions you might have and they give great advice.

I started out looking about a month or so ago and everyone was very helpful in answering questions and helping me find something that fits my needs. I mostly delt with Stacy and Dennis, they were very helpful. I took the CPL class yesterday and it was very informative and they also made it fun. I would recommend anyone to go there weather you are a first time buyer, looking for another firearm or even just need information.

Freedom Firearms has a good selection of handguns, paper targets and some accessories. In my opinion, their handgun pricing is a little of the high side. They do carry a few suppressors and some ammunition. They have a great handgun range indoors and they offer concealed carry classes at the location. I do wish they would make an improvement for safety at the range. I would like to see a beeter bullet stopping barrier between the shooting lanes, where the shooters stand. Ive noticed careless shooters covering other shooters with the muzzle of their handguns. An accidental discharge could pass right through the thin barrier and strike the next shooter over. At least that is how it appears and with all the stray bullet holes you can see in the walls and ceiling, it appears there have been some careless shots fired. They do have a good selection of range guns that people can try out on the range before purchasing a certain type or caliber of handgun.

They have a decent shooting range and a great selection of firearms considering its a smaller store. I am very impressed with the knowledge of the staff and how helpful they are. I had quite a few questions and I felt welcome to ask them all without feeling rushed.

Great Folks. Knowledgeable staff, personable, helpful. Regardless what you may be out to find, everyone here can point you in the right direction, answer just about any question. From technical to mechanical to legal points, they know what they are about.As an added bonus, they have an on-site pistol range and pistol rentals. Not sure about something? Try it out!

The staff at Freedom firearms are friendly knowledgeable and willing to spend the time with you to make you sure youre comfortable with youre perches. They have a good inventory. If you dont see what youre looking for ask one of the staff they will try their best to help you. I frequently stop by to see what is in the shop and have since the day they opened. Several of my family members shop here as well i highly recommend Freedom firearms

Great little gun shop. If you’re looking for a handgun, they have it. They also have most popular handguns available for rental if you’ve been wanting to test drive one and they have some of the best ammo prices in town. The reason I subtracted two stars from an otherwise favorable review is because several staff members there have struck me as abrasive and conceited. There seems to be a class of preferred customers there, and I’m certainly not one of them nor am I sure how to achieve such prestigious status. It often takes 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by a staff member and the acknowledgement usually comes in the form of a sideways glance and a gruff “you need something?” Like I’m the homeless guy who’s always asking to use their toilet. I’m no expert on customer service norms for gun shops, but that seems like a less than ideal way to treat someone who is deciding whether to drop $600 at your store. I do understand that they get busy and they have a lot of people to serve sometimes, but this kind of thing happens reliably even when the store is all but empty. I want to love this shop, but the staff needs some serious adjustments to their attitudes and ideas of customer service before this review earns the other two stars back.

I am glad that these guys are in business but I was treated like an outsider here. i love the setup and the general atmosphere of the store but the employees have a chip on their should the size of a 50 caliber round. When I walk into a store it would be nice if when I asked a question that I was not scrutinized for not knowing everything about the gun. The prices were generally competitive with other stores and some of the employees were very polite, but the larger gentlemen that I was working with was completely. How should I say, bull headed about everything, it was his way or the highway.

Good place to go for knowledge and guns. Also, their shooting range is very nice as well. One thing on that, expect to be patient on Saturdays. They get extremely busy as they do classes and also conduct business as normal. If your new to guns or have tons of experience this place is for you. I enjoy it and have bought a couple guns from them.

Only 6, narrow lanes that can only accommodate pistols. Went on a Saturday (oops) and waited well over an hour for range time. Tiny little shop with plenty of over-priced gun accessories to choose from.Its not a half bad range, but unfortunately I wont be returning.

Great staff and a very informative and helpful CCW class. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, made me feel at ease and answered all my questions and assisted me in the purchase of a firearm, no high pressure tactics, very helpful on the range while firing the loaner firearms. Being able to actually shoot with the firearms you may be interested in is a great asset, that’s what sold me on the firearm I purchased. Made sure I had everything I would need for the firearm prior to me leaving, i.e. holster, practice ammo, carry ammo, cleaning supplies. I’ll definitely be back to use the range and their knowledge, they have a customer for life!!!

I love going in there. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They have many firearms to choose from. Aware of the laws and help you with them. I would (and frequently do) recommend this place to othets.

By far the best gun store in the greater kalamazoo area. Always willing to answer questions. No matter how basic. You can tell these guys are all passionate about their jobs. And the range doesnt hurt either.

*Do not come here for gunsmithing* I will never come here again. I used to use the range, and train when I first got my transfer to battle Creek. 10 minutes away from my house. Once a week, and shoot about 500 rounds each trip. *The reason I will never go back is because the owner/gunsmith. I needed help with my service weapon. My screwdriver sliped off ruined the locking screw for my mag release on my 1911, and my driver head. it was totally stuck. I was in a jam, and needed it done right away I bought new release button, all was well till I got it back in 15 minutes. The magazine release was not seated to the frame of the 1911. The gunsmith/owner told me thats just how it is they are just like that. I said no Ive never seen that its not acceptable will you please fix this. He became confrontational with me when I told him that this work will not pass a (QC) check in quality control check that was that day thats why I was going through my weapon. I wasnt about to argue with him about how he thinks thats right and thats how it is, and he started to close distance on me. When the release isnt seated to the frame the mags will not lock in. He said he took tools to the new release. He lied not a damn tool mark on it. I depend on my service weapon for work. I fixed the gun myself after I got a new driver head. I did not see a gun smithing certificate, and obviously do not care about the quality of work they put out. The fact of your weapon is a tool you use for work. They do not care about you, or your safety, or the safety of your weapon by what they tried to pull on me. They cant even do a simple drill and tap for reference either. Thats a joke of a gunsmith, and a moron of an owner. I will try to submit photos in red.

I am new to the area and very new to firearms. I called with lots of questions and got great answers over the phone. I came in with more questions and was given great customer service. Ive now purchased here twice, taken a firearms class and am gaining lots of experience on their firing range. The whole staff is excellent and they take the time to make each trip an equally five (5) star outing.

As Brian Burke mentioned above me, this place has some seriously aloof employees. On one occasion I came in to use the range, was barely acknowledged, and when I accidentally dropped the case for my gun out in to the down range area, I went to ask for help, and the guy came in and I explained what happened and he looked at me like I just told him I boil live puppies as a hobby. He asked why I had the case up there to begin with, and I told him I was putting my gun away and he gave me this look like I should know I was doing something wrong, but my understanding was youre not supposed to have your weapon behind the yellow line in the range at all. Mind you at this point, I was still new to shooting, and this was a few years ago but I just visited last week and the employees were just as snotty. Only one guy was actually cool about the whole process and I have a feeling it was because it was closing time and he just wanted to get out of there. Just overall theres better, more helpful places to buy guns around BC/KZOO, but the range facilities are decent here and if you dont have anywhere else to shoot, it is serviceable. Just dont expect them to go out of their way to help you.

Absolutely horrible experience. Not only is their sales staff absolutely horrible but the owners are even worse. Not once but twice I was told that I could purchase a firearm and then was told the next day that its not for sale becuase the owner wanted it for his own collection. I would never do any business with freedom firearms.

It appears that the owners son won’t buy guns here and he drives across the state to shop at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Troy. Is someone’s own family avoids their business you probably should too.

I like NE of Detroit and my buddy lives near Elkhart, IN. We chose this place solely on the fact it is the closet place in between us. We got there just after they opened on a Sunday, (2/17/14) and stood in line for about 4-5 minutes for a lane. When it was our turn, the woman behind the desk was VERY nice and professional even though it was our first time here. (Some gun shops can be very clicky and if you are new, they treat you like a piece of dirt, IME.) Anyway, the women was very polite and courteous from the time we got there until our range time was over and we paid.Jon, the range guy was also awesome to work with. Always cleaning up shells and open to any questions you had about the rules of the range. He was very active in watching over people (Id rather have it that way as not everyone is a pro with a weapon.) and just making sure that no one is doing anything that could cause harm to themselves or others.We plan to go back here every time we want to meet up in the future.
