I was amazed at the amount of historical and genealogical materials in their collection. The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable. My 8 year old granddaughter was with me and loved the interactive museum and staff and did not want to leave. Batesville is incredibly lucky to have such a valuable resource.
As far as small local museums go this has to by and far be one of my favorites for how much effort they put into putting on free community wide events. I go to everything they have to offer and my daughter always has a blast
Local history all in one place. The children loved the exhibits and the staff was exceptional. Definitely a must see for locals and visitors.
Interesting place, didnt get to look around much because I was there for a training seminar but I will definitely be back.
It was a nice little museum focusing on the history of a large part of the eastern Ozarks and even into the delta area.
A hidden gem for a local museum. A self paced stroll through the history of Independence County.
A fantastic museum with local info. Several times a year they do “family day” and you can visit for free, plus they have crafts and demos going on that are really fun! We have made our own paper from pulp, seen apples pressed in a 100+ yr old apple press, made fancy paper airplanes, made animal prints in plaster, made bird feeders, and too much more to list!! It’s a great place!!
I love this place- especially family and homeschool days events!
A great place to spend the afternoon with the kids learning about the local history my kids loved it and so did I
This place was definitely a hidden gem. We were marking places off of our passports for AR. The lady that worked there was super helpful and explained the answers to every question we asked. My kids were fascinated!
This place is one of the more interesting and important places in the county, has tons of information that would have long been forgotten by time. If you need help they are more than willing and might I add capable to assist you, genealogy, cave, mines, topographical maps of the area its all here and many interactive exhibits. Definitely a great stop.
The staff was super sweet and the place was...amazing!! So much information and nicely laid out for visitors. We cant wait to go back.
Exhibits were well done, intetesting, and interactive. Staff was exceptionally friendly.
Very interesting, had more stuff than I expected as people always tell me that its just a walk in and out. I wanted to go since Ive always lived in Independence county and I didnt regret the visit. It was cool
Looks really neat. Never been inside though. One day...
Had a good selection of artifacts and quite a bit of history about Batesville and surrounding counties.
Great staff and history. We will be back.
The 1936 National Guard Armory that houses the Old Independence Regional Museum is one of the most architecturally distinctive armories in Arkansas, boasting a design by architect Peter Blaauw featuring both Art Deco and Gothic Revival influences. It was listed on the National Register on May 29, 1998.
